  1. The pinky moving UP shows you how the forearms should rotate through the downswing. I'll find a message board with less anal-retananot jerks. Please delete me completely from this forum. Thanks.
  2. Ok, so I'm dying to get this sorted out so I looked at some flipping videos online and saw one that talked about rotating the forearms through impact so as to get the feeling that the right pinky was rotating UP through impact (I swing right handed). I went to the range during lunch and I have NEVER I mean NEVER compressed the ball the way I did trying this. I also find myself facing the target at finish when doing this. Will let you know where this takes me. I chipped doing it also and chipped GREAT. I guess I was releasing the club instead of flipping it.
  3. This is good info. I took some swings and think I actually stop moving the handle on the backswing while the rest of the club goes too far back....meaning I think my back swing is way to shallow/crowded..whatever you call it. Then there's nowhere to go on the downswing. I'll try to post a video of my swing as others have suggested.
  4. Uhhh, like I just said....does anyone know any good drills to FIGURE OUT WHY I'm FLIPPING. I thought this was a community for ideas and helping, not talking down to others.
  5. Would love to know anyone's thought on a good drill(s) to stop the flip.
  6. That's a good one, too... Visualization. I really struggled this weekend when I played a round. I don't practice much, so I went to the range this evening and got in a groove finally by basically not worrying so much about the backswing and just trying to keep the handle moving up and left through the downswing. Flipping is my problem and I think I should just focus on that.
  7. Good stuff. Totally agree. If you are thinking, you're eyes go out of focus. I guess it's almost like letting your eyes be your brain.
  8. I just meant that you should keep your eyes focused instead of focusing on what your hands are doing etc. If your eyes aren't focused on where you want the club to hit the ball, you are screwed. At least I am. Thinking about keeping the club in between both arms throughout the swing is not a good thought, as I found out today. What was working well was keeping my eyes focused and making sure I rotated my back to the target. Seems I play well when I get my back to the target and when I play bad I lean towards the target (reverse piviot) on the backswing. So I'm just gonna take a couple of practice swings getting my back to the target and then clearing my mind, focusing on the ball and pulling the trigger.
  9. haha. Me too. Please don't hit it out of bounds, please stay out of that bunker, etc. I can't turn my brain off. Then again, 2 beers and I can't be stopped. Play well this weekend if you play!
  10. I did a poor job conveying what I was trying to say and what Nicklaus said. He was saying that you can't be telling a body part to do something DURING The swing. We all think before taking the club away. He was saying there's no time to do that stuff after you've taken the club away.
  11. I try to stay away from telling a part of my body to do something. I remember Jack Nicklaus saying never to do that. Easier said then done, though. It's amazing how hard it is to just clear your mind and focus your eyes on the task at hand. As they say, "trust your hands, not your eyes".
  12. That's interesting. I've had issues with my entire left foot coming off the ground in the backswing and didn't even know it was happening.
  13. Been trying to get one, consistent swing thought. I've tried everything from telling myself to see the ball being hit, right shoulder under chin, don't think about anything, etc.... I found one that works very well, and is amazingly simple. I just tell myself to keep the shaft in between my arms throughout the entire swing. When I do that, the club ends up in all the correct positions and I stay in balance. What's your swing thought, if you have one? I still can't believe I found one so simple after so much grinding!
