I just recently got back from a 2 week trip to California, and consequently my golf game took a hold as well. I was hoping for some advice ... Before the trip, my swing was great and I was shooting in the high 70s. However, I've been struggling since I got back with either not hitting the ball solid with irons (weak fade shots) and hitting the ball high on the face with the driver (again, with a weak fade). I have never really hit the ball high on the face before - do you guys have any ideas as to why that's happening? Maybe there's a correlation between the weak iron and high face hits with the driver? I actually just had a lesson too, and I was hitting great shots the entire time. So, I kind of wasted the lesson I suppose. I was working on basically feeling like I was swinging to the left after I hit the ball. This would hopefully encourage a squarer hit, without falling back on the downswing and hitting that fade I was talking about ... I kept trying to do this today and it wasn't working out too well. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

it's like the top of the skin kind of peeled off. there wasn't any liquid or anything.

I just started playing after the offseason, and about halfway through my first large bucket, a blister formed on my finger and then broke and hurt like crazy. ... I'm wondering, is this normal for not playing for so long or is it something to do with my grip?

Well, the season is nearly over but I'm going to keep on practicing as much as I can! I've been playing rounds lately and I've noticed that bad lies - anything other than the fairway) have been giving me trouble. My handicap is about 8-10 at the moment, and I've finally come to notice that the majority of bad shots that I have come from the rough or on some sort of elevation. I know the basics of how to get through this type of situation, but it just isn't cutting it now. I've been chunking the ball out of these situations. Could you guys provide any tips to further enhance my ability to play out of these types of situations? Thanks!

Even though I'm shooting like 9-13 over, my handicap went down from a 8.6 to 8.4. Why?
-
Usually I don't have divots, but lately I've been getting a bit more compression so I'm getting divots. Though I haven't been paying attention to where they are. I had a match today and I did pretty good with my irons. I was compressing it really well. However, my driver was still bad.
-
Help please? I went to the range today and I was drawing or chunking my irons (most of them were decent), but my driver was still absolutely horrible. Fades and only going like 70-80 percent of my full potential. BLEGH!
-
More swings today: I tried feeling like I was taking the club straight back. This way, I didn't turn my hands open in the takeaway. I hit draws a LOT, some really bad pull/hooks though. Maybe about 20 percent were fades. I can't really control this shot, however. Driver was so crappy - I'm losing so much power and I'm fading it still.
-
So I'll go to the range and film my swing again soon with the takeaway being straighter.

this guy dropped a f bomb so loudly that i swear the whole course could of heard him ... like twenty heads turned toward the guy, and he just got in his cart and drove off like nothing happened. lol.

Kind of fuzzy, but any comments would be great! I've been really struggling with a shank sometimes as well as a really bad fade with my driver. WOOPS i forgot about the thread name, SORRY!

Taylormade Penta TP?

It's just not going very far, my drives were only flying like 230 even with good hits. It was weird. -
I got fitted for the Bridgestone E6, but it's not working out for me. There's a sale on Pentas right now, so I'm wondering if this ball is good or in the same area as the bridgestone e6. thanks!

Today we had our first high school match, and I did terrible. bleh. The main thing that was just plain weird was that I was popping up my driver to the left. It felt as though I was getting right under the ball. Either that, or I was fade/slicing it. Afterwards, I asked my friend to look at my swing, and he told me that at the top of my swing, my hips started the turn way too much and left the face open... I'm still not sure what to do. Any help?

with releasing too early, flip your golf club around and swing it normally. hear the wind whistle on the left side of your body, not behind you (that means you're early releasing)

Sigh. Shanks today during my round.

so feel more wrist cocking at the top of the swing? -
I didn't read through all the replies, but I saw your swing and it's very outside-in and steep. Here's two drills to help you. 1. Line up three balls diagonally one ball apart and focus on hitting the middle ball. This will help you with the feeling of hitting it from the inside -- out vs outside to in. 2. (not really sure how to describe it... try putting a golf bag behind you and making sure you swing parallel to the bag (meaning don't hit it). Place the bag straight behind you and facing away from you ... i'm not sure if you will get what i'm saying but try it out if you understand. good luck!

Yep, they suddenly appeared with my irons out of nowhere. I went through most of the round with them, but at the 15th hole I figured it out (sort of). I was wondering if someone could confirm it ... So, I thought that I was taking the club too flat and to the inside so now I'm taking the club back feeling more to outside ... am I right in this? Can a flat swing cause shanks?

update: new morning, it feels a lot better! still a bit sensitive, but a lot better than yesterday!
-
will it affect my swing much?

this morning as i was taking out my clubs i closed the trunk door on my own pinkie finger. It bled pretty bad, and the nail is half black now. It's the pinkie on my left hand. If anyone here has had the same thing happen to them, will I be able to play at all?

I'm leaning toward the CG15's at the moment, but what are the pros and cons of each? Thanks!

For a 58 degree wedge, what differs between each angle of bounce?
