  1. Thanks andef... Guys- no other feedback?
  2. I bought the 2008 AP2's in March and honestly love these clubs. They have really helped my game tremendously. The only issue I have with them is that the Proj X 6.0 shafts have gotten rusted pit marks all over the shafts on all clubs (I dry them off after playing in the rain). Also, I hit my lower irons so freakin high its absurd. I mean high... I've tried hooding the club, etc. but I moon shoot anything from a 9 iron down. I'm going to send the clubs back to Titleist to replace the shafts because of the rust, but I'm not quite sure I want to replace them with the Proj X shafts. Can anyone give some insight as to the major noticable difference when hitting these clubs with S300's in them? I've never had those shafts on any iron set so I'd appreciate any opinions. Also - Damn is anyone else kinda salty about the new Titleist line-up being so sexy looking? I'm kinda bumed I just paid all this money for the older model. I think the 710 CB's are the new sweet clubs out for the cavity back forged player. Still very happy with the AP2's though!
  3. Decent actually. Only had two that came with a bottle of Johnny Walker..
  4. I was also in this situation a few months ago - deciding between the Mizzuno MP 52's and the Titliest AP2's. The decision I made was the Titliest Ap2's with project X 6.0 shafts. It seems as though most of the people who replied to this post chose the mizzuno irons, but I have to tell you.. I am a golfer that was hitting G.I Cobra S9's and was looking for a better players club that would enable/force me to hit pure golf shots and not completely bury me on mishits. For me they both felt great off the mats (both only 6i demos) but I was getting a more consistent and "buttery" feeling shot on each stroke with the AP2's. In the end I'm really glad I made the choice I did. I'm hitting my irons beautifully now (took me a few months to get consistent/confident) but now I'm hitting every iron 10-15 yds farther, dead accurate and am still able to save holes on mis-hits. My buddy that I play with a lot hits the MP 57's and swears by them. Its all about what it is your looking for. Seeing as you already had MP's maybe you should stick with them. But my opinion is that you really can't go wrong with either. Since the switch in April I'm shooting 10-12 strokes better than I was previously. I absolutely love them and everyone who hits them says the same. Now if only I could putt - I'd be shooting low 80's - but thats the subject of a new thread..lol Good luck man.. sorry to hear your sticks were stolen..Try the Titliests!!
  5. All, I purchased a brand new set of AP2's in April and I love them! But I played on Friday and we got caught in some rain (for the first time with the new set) and I noticed today that every single one of my shafts have rust blotches from club head to grip all over the shaft. I can scrape it off if I really work on it with my finger nail and I do not want to take steel wool to them. This seems to be because there are many tiny "pit marks" in the shaft through the chrome finish. I plan on calling Titleist first thing tomorrow morning, but I'm not sure what the outcome is going to be. Has anyone had this happen? I want them replaced. A 4 year old set I can see...but 4 months old? Not acceptable for a $1,000 set of irons. I have also noticed that the club face on a few of the irons are also showing rust spots. Interested to hear something about this. Thanks

  7. I know this might not be considered "equipment," but I don't know where else this thread should go on the site. Has anyone seen that Titleist New Era 5950 fitted cap? I've seen one or two guys wearing them but I can't seem to find them anywhere... If you guys know what I'm talking about, and/or know where to pick one up - let me know. Thx
  8. I got Neoprene ones too from Sports Authority. The number is printed on the side of them..no tags. They are also pretty easy on and off. I take them off after each round though so they don't sit in them (its been pretty wet conditions in Jersey). I'm just upset about the dings on the club faces.. One or two actually cross over a groove or two. I don't think it will impact the performance, but I'm just anal since I've been sweating these clubs for the last few months before pulling the trigger. Oh well - as long as I'm hitting them straight!
  9. I read the thread about the dings and dents on forged irons but I still said I would never use club covers. I bought brand new AP2 irons and played a few rounds with them. I played on a very windy day last week and my bag kept getting blown over by the wind. My irons took a serious beating and I never would have expected that they would be "this" soft. Even the club faces have dents in them from the other irons falling on them. Needles to say - I have raised the white flag and got a set of covers. I take them off after each round but the dents bothered me more than I thought they would. Its all I see when I look at the clubs now. Kinda sucks.. they're not even a month old
  10. Any one have any quick fixes for getting rid of a wicked iron slice? I'm definitely coming out-to-in on my down swing.. I just can't stop doing it recently. This is a new problem since I got these new clubs. I just want to fix it. So let's have it. I want to hear all of your "slice cures". I'm sure theres a bunch of theories out there.
  11. I think I'm going to go back to the range and try to work it out tonight. Although staying away for a day or two might not be a bad idea. Thanks for the tips!
  12. on some of the chips and pitches I was obviously pulling up or coming across my body because I wasn't even making contact with the club face. But I pulled out all my other irons to take full shots as well and that is when I experienced the problem. I always practice from S wedge to driver consecutively. so after a while I went to hitting full shots and couldn't do it. 9i.8i,7i.6i.5i.4i. NOTHING. Driver 3wood and hybrid were fine. its so weird
  13. I wasn't trying to apply what Stan was preaching to my full swing. I went to the range with the intentions of working on some chipping, working on some pitch shots and seeing as I have brand new clubs, I got enough balls to practice my full shots as well. I usually start my range practice with the sand wedge and move up consecutively to my driver then back down. I was chipping ok..although some of my longer pitch attempts were being shanks immediatly right.. ( I think too much wrist action) Either way the club face wasn't coming through at the wrong angle. So I took a break and pulled out the 9i, 8i. etc etc. and I could not hit the ball to save the life of me. same issue with every single club. My hybrid, 3 wood and driver however, I hit perfectly.. no issues at all. I just don't get it. So to answer your question - No I did not try to apply it to my full shot. I was perfectly confident and content with my full swing. I just wanted to save some bs strokes I pick up around the green or from 65 yds and in.
  14. Well i read about 4 chapters of Stan Utley's Art of the Short Game book since Monday and I went to the range last night and bought a jumbo bucket. (still trying to work into these irons) I sh*t you not, I hit 140 absolute SHANKS! EVERY SINGLE ONE! I was hitting the hosle on most of them. Not even hitting the club face? I don't get it!!! I hit them beautifully the other day. I think maybe all of this technique is in my head, because I just did not feel comfortable. EVERY SINGLE SHOT either off the hosle and to the right screaming ground ball, or I got the ball in the air with a terrible slice. I could feel the club head turning in my hand at impact. I think maybe I was swinging around my body? Really I have no F**KING CLUE. But it was torture I started analyzing things... my buddy is cracking up next to me... and I was so furious I dumped the rest of the balls out onto the rang and left. I have an expensive round coming up on Saturday. HOW DOES THIS GO AWAY????? Sorry this might have to go to another thread but I had to say something
