  1. I'm not sure this is done/possible, but I was wondering if golfsmith or anybody else can customize golf clubs I already own. They are standard big bertha 2004's and would like custom fit ones but don't want to buy new ones. Any info in this would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. Also if it is done how much does it usually cost per club.
  2. @barrycuda Thanks for all the info I'll have to pay more attention to those things next time I go out to the range. Do you know of reasons for a really low ball flight I seem to be hitting alot of low balls that just dont have the distance they used to. But when i was slicing and getting that one good shot in out of ten it would go farther. Now I feel like I am getting more solid contact more often without the distnace and I think one thing is this low ball flight. My old shots used to have more of an arc with greater distance, the new ones have the better look going out at angle then dieing at the end just with out the real hieght or power( by power i am basing this off of distance only, I feel I am swing just as hard as before). thanks for all the replies in advance.
  3. thanks for the resonse, so if im off plane is there any drills or things i can do, both when im by myself and with somebody else that can help me get on plane. what things can tell me im of plane, what things/drills can i do to correct this? thanks again for your response. ill keep working on it.
  4. yeah i know 300 is alot, the instructor gave me a huge bucket/basket i've seen ones that hold about 100 ones that hold 200 and this one looked like it could hold 300-400 easy. he after the lesson he said i could just hit the rest so I did, I think I was out there for 2.5-3 hours not hitting full swings all the time. so i think that my blisters mostly came from a very tight grip amplify that by a large number of balls. I was just wondering how common it was to get blisters for ppl just starting out. but im sure after i losen my grip it will be better. thanks for the response.
  5. I had my first lesson a few days ago and one of the man things was fixing my very weak grip to strong/actually normal. That first day with the new grip I must have hit 250-300 balls, most of them didn't get off the ground as I was still trying to get used to the new grip. Anyways my question is when you guys first started playing golf did you have alot of blisters. I think part of the problem was with the new grip cause me to have a death grip because it felt so uncomfortable, but just wandering if this was common or was I still doing something wrong. I am right handed and have a blister on my left middle finger at the inside second joint from the tip, on my right hand pinky second joint from tip more towards my ring finger, on my ringer finger on the outside inbetween the top joint and middle joint caused from rubbing my pointer finger on my left hand, and lastly on my right thumb inside/toward pointer finger inbetween tip and first joint. thanks for all the replies in advance.
  6. So I had my first lesson a few days ago. I used to: 1. have a weak grip, causing me to be to wristie, also wouldn't allow my hands to stay ahead of the club at impact. 2. couldn't roll my right hand over(by the way im right handed). 3. could square the club face a the top. 4. all of this caused alot of slice's and push's, as well as alot of topping. Since my lesson the pro adjusted my grip so now I can basically do everything I couldn't do before but now im running into other problems that im hoping some of you guys can give me some things i can look at before i make another lesson. Now I noticed that on a full swing I hook some, draw some, and every once in a while i push them. now i like the draw not to worried about the push as i know im just not rolling my hands over at impact. but I cant seem to get rid of the hook. I don't know how to stay straight through impact and still make sure I roll my hands over at the end. Here are the questions and some things I noticed, hoping somebody can give me some drills or tips as to why the happen if there common and drills or things to look at to fix them. 1. When switching to the grip and trying to keep square at the top, I seem to have lost power that I had before, now I would rather have the loss in power and the better more consistent shot but still curious. I think I might be hitting more fat shots and maybe coming into shallow but not sure how to tell. also noticed that the ball is not getting up into the air as high as I would expect it. 2. on 3/4 shots i seem to have a some what pull/hook, maybe more of a draw/hook but its almost 90% of the time. basically it starts of left of the target and draws it doesn't seem to have that screaming right to left like i used to have with the slice going left to right. Like I said when I take full shots I get about 40% hook 30%draw 10% straight and 10% fade/push. So basic questions ways/drills to stop hook and reasons for the loss of power and low ball flight. sorry if this is long and redundant, and thanks for all the replies in advance.
  7. Thank you all for the great information, I will take it all into consideration as I try to find the right instructor for me. I have one more question that I am looking for opinions on. As this is my first lesson I noticed that at black gold golf course alot of the instructors will also give lessons for $60 for half hour. as this is my first lesson I would think an hour is best be make sure I have time to go over everything and to make sure I understand everything. I was just wondering if my assumptions were correct. for my first lesson is an hour better or would half hour be better as an hour might be over kill for the fundamentals. thanks again for all the responses.
  8. I have been playing for about 2.5 years only once a month or so, get to the range 1-2 a month. My handicap is still around 30, and now I am ready to start putting more time and effort into getting my game on the right track. So my first priority is to get the fundamentals down so I am building on a good foundation. I have searched through the site and found the pga instruction site, but not sure who to start with I live in yorba linda in southern california, I initial saw http://www.blackgoldgolf.com/onlinelessons.asp this awhile ago but never was willing to put down $110 on a one hour lesson. Here is the link to all the pga golfers listed from the pga site http://dyn.pga.com/improve/find-an-i...92886&miles;=10 I was thinking of going with scott stubbs just passed off of price and location $45 dollars doesn't seem that bad as a start. I was just wondering what your guys thoughts experiences were. thanks in advance.
  9. I was thinking of buying one of these style wedges. I was planning on buying a sand and lob first, maybe a pw, gw later, not sure yet though. My clubs right now are '04 big bertha's. with a handicap in the high 20's. My main question is from what I have read it seems that everybody likes the cavity back of the CG11 I was just wondering, is the CG11 just as good as the CG10 in most areas and better in some like forgiviness. or does the fact that the CG10 not having a cavity back give it some quality's that some players might like. like more control more shot making ability. If possilbe can anybody who has used one or both post pros and cons of each one. feel, forgiviness, build quality, etc. thanks in advance.
  10. Buying clubs from callaway preowned golf, need opinions and info to help decide or what types of things i should look at to help me decide. I am new to golf playing for a few months a few times a months. looking at these clubs wondering differences, similaritys, which one you would pick and why? Steelhead X-16 3-PW 1. true temper. 2. royal precision rifle. Big Bertha '04 4-10,W 1. true temper. three choices the x-16 have a 3 iron but no 10 and come in either true temper or rifle. the bertha only come in true temper, at least thats all thats available right now. I have heard that the berthas are more forgiving but are they that much more forgiving. if they are good for high handicappers like i have read. if/when i get better will they hinder shot making ability that much or will i never really get to that point if i only plan to be a recreational player playing 3 time a month on average. thanks for all your help and opions in advance.
