  1. Appreciate your analysis; clearly I am unconsciously incompetent about elements of the swing. I am inconsistent when it comes to grip/setup/stance but I know that will improve if I keep at it. Youre right about the grip being weak in that particular swing. I was using a stronger grip a few weeks ago but weakened it as I am pulling shots and read that too strong a grip is the usual culprit. Obviously I need lessons rather than guessing. Most (60-70%) of my shots are straight but nowhere near as consistent as I would like. Again, goes to show unconscious incompetence which makes my swing/shot quality random. Unfortunately, I won't be able to practice much longer as I live in a cold climate although I can practice some elements of swing inside. Evolvr seems a great idea and something I will look at in the spring. In the meantime seems like I need to work on keeping the clubface more neutral in the backswing/at the top. Thanks again!
  2. It's interesting that I am impacting the ball with a closed clubface when the clubface is open at the top of the swing. My most common mis-shot is pulling the ball and when this happens the clubface is definitely closed after my follow through. You mentioned I am "swinging so far right", but I am not doing this intentionally with my clubface open at the top. What you see there is my natural swing with no "swing thoughts" other than keeping my sternum and head centred to the ball to prevent swaying. I am wondering if my grip is too strong closing the clubface at impact or my wrist movement is incorrect (although my lead hand wrist does look flat at the top which is good?).
  3. Alright, I hope these are better quality; I tried to line it all up as best I could according to the filming your swing article. Also, slowed the speed right down to .2x. Down the line Caddy View

  5. Hi all, Happy to get back into the game after a many year hiatus. Im in Kelowna, BC so no shortage of beautiful courses in the area. I chose the best time to get back into it - Fall ! I've been hitting the range a few times a week since early September but haven't been out for a round. Aiming for the spring, but hope to get some swing practice this winter. Look forward to particating here at TST. I'm going to post a swing thread as well as look into Evolvr which seems like a great resource. See you all around
  6. Alright, I will give it another shot in a few days next time i'm at the range. Will get better angles per the stickied thread.
  7. Apologies, I recorded this inverted/reversed on my phone to check if the field of view was ok and didn't set it back to normal.
  8. Hi all, Lurked for a while, but decided to join as I am now getting back into golf after a 7+ year hiatus. I feel like my swing is not completely horrible, and I like my takeaway but my downswing seems off plane and I am coming over the top. Am I extending my backswing too far by "reaching" at the top? It looks like that reaching is causing the club to come off plane. I don't know for sure, that's why I am posting. It would explain why I occasionally chunk the ball/hit the ground before the ball on occasion though... Embedded is a 7 iron swing...Appreciate any feedback in advance! I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years when younger, just getting back into game My current handicap index or average score is: unknown My typical ball flight is: half the time straight, the other half to the right but straight (left handed) The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: 1) straight but to the right of where i'm aiming 2) chunking/hitting ground before ball occasionally Videos:
