  1. Hi , just want to keep everyone udpated. Today I bought a used MX-23 in good condition for US$35. Happy with that. I also got an opportunity to try hitting some balls with some brand new irons in a shop. Finally, I can get the feeling of forgiving and less forgiving by trying the MX300 and MP68. I also see a very good condition used MP30 and even MP60 at the same price (US$35). But I want to stick with the more forgiving one for my loose iron and will get a more challenging ones when I buy a complete set. Now can go and hit some balls. Thanks again everyone
  2. hey all, just an update. Did an impulse buy last night @ ebay - a used set of MP52 (i was told it is very good condition one) for $340. Sorry, I know this is against some people's advice. But i reallly like it and it is pretty affordable in money-wise. So, let me challenge myself a bit to learn from a difficult set first. If fail, I will buy a cheap used 7 iron ... Will update you guys my progress. Btw, just met online a singaporen whose H'cap is 4 .... an ex-singapore national team and is developing a professional career in the tour ...
  3. went shopping today again. found the AP1 in good deal. the MP 52/58 are both cheaper than the MX300 (around $250 difference). Very strange, the MP series should be of higher end. the salesperson roughly measure for me, I can just go for normal lie. he also recommended me to go for MP58. he said MP58 is also quite forgiving because of the small cavity. he knows i am beginner but still said if i buy the MP58, I can stick with it for many many years..
  4. true.... on my hands, every irons look and feel the same except the look and weight and materials. Will go for a normal lie MX 300 Definitely will stay in this forum for getting more swing advice : ) useful stuff
  5. thanks. but still not 100% sure for the lie. may i should ask the shop to give me different angle lie to try if available. Thanks again all, I think i will get the MX300
  6. so, i should go to normal lie without angle? btw, is mx300 or mx1000 more forgiving? is one of them give more "feel"? more complicated and fun to play with?
  7. have another question again is it ok for beginner to use "lie angle up 2 deg"? what is lie angle actually? tks
  8. Again, another very useful advice. The salesperson offered me $580 for the used AP1. If it was a better deal, I may have chose to "tolerate" (sorry for the owners) the look and have bought it. I know nothing about the tech so I can only choose brand. And I am little biased to mizuno as I am a judoka. Mizuno makes very nice judogi, making me trust that mizuno is quality brand. I dislike Nike and Adidas because they are not brands focusing in golf. And I dislike Callaway and PING, dunno why
  9. Yes, that is what i am doing now. No, the debate is very constructive one. I can understand most of the argument. Now I am thinking whether I should but the newer models (MX1000 or MP52) of the older ones (T Zoid?) as it will make no difference to me. A second thought is i am going to play golf for a long time, buying a newer model (used clubs) with more technology advance and better condition will serve me a longer period
  10. maybe time to invest some nice cover for the iron he : )ad
  11. thanks. but a friend of mine told me to limit the time of reading and researching - just got to hit the ball! and I think it is a fair suggestion. I am getting a bit confused by so many brands. As long as many ppl give positive comment on Mizuno irons and they smile to me when I see them, then i will simply go for it if within my budget. But I will really avoid MB68. Will go for 52/58 or the MX 300. But I have some concern on the the perimeter weight on the MX lines...
  12. thanks a lot, thwak/ very useful link. Do you know the definition of the Game Improvement, Super Game Improvement or Ultra Game improvement categories? I can't tell precisely the meaning..
  13. Same here, that's why i hate the look of AP1.
  14. Sorry, English is not my first language and I typed my last reply in toliet, so I ignored most of the gramma. Thanks sean, that is really fair comment and useful suggestion. That's why when the salesperson told me not to go for MP, I insisted that I want a MP. But, it is also forunate to know before I buy that the MP68 has very low forgiveness. Got one more question, what is lie and loft? I tried google but hardly find easy to understand info. Do we have a thread of basic golf terminology for beginners?
