It's fine as long as there aren't too many pockets. You know a cargo tux.
-
It has EVERYTHING to do with the conversation. It is about image. Cargo shorts don't harm the greens, they don't kill little animals, they don't tear up the cart path and they don't take divots. The only reason they aren't allowed at the places you go is image. Now are you really trying to tell me that places like Pebble and the Straights don't have a cultivated image they try and uphold or generate?
-
But it is hardly a muni either - they do have a very upper class and proper image to maintain. That's his point. Never not once had someone equate where I live with Rosanne Barr. Most people know GB by the Packers but this is hardly the only place I have lived. Lived in Monterey California for a good stretch, spent time in Del Mar and Silicon Valley as well. Those places had no problem with me in shorts, cargo or otherwise. If we are going to make generalizations about location and people - I can say, given what I have seen here that the NE and NY in particular should be known for poor grammar and spelling and the indecency of not even making sure they spell another forum member's name correctly when addressing him. (Lemay vs LaMay) Your behavior here just "backs up the image" of an arrogant jerk from NYC but remember -I'm just busting on you here, but it does go to show how location does play a role. And I'm not making fun of you, or looking down on you. No hard feelings. As to the spending 6 figures on a club - big deal. Money does not equal class. I have had 2000 dollar dinners with friends, I have had 2 dollar hot dogs. Money or dress does not limit who I chose to associate with, character does. I thought you just said shorts were just as cheap as the cargos?

No hard forged metal things in my pocket or on my body as I swing. Can't say the same for the bag.
-
Both. Nice - you don't we insult my mother while we are at it? What is this the 3rd grade? I like in NYC so I am better than you in the fly over states... nya nya nya. And to the "gentleman in slacks and polo shirt" that neg repped me - I couldn't care less but at the least have the golf balls to leave your name. Flipping cowards.

They are allowed on far more courses than not. That's complete BS and you know it. Show me the count of courses that do versus that don't. Maybe you don't know the definition of "most"? This I can agree but I don't agree cargos aren't proper attire for the golf course - the aren't allowed for that course maybe; but the merits of that are open to debate. I have played exactly 2 munis in my life. All the rest have been places of "high repute" and have NEVER been asked to change. There is a difference between a rule and what actually is proper. I find guys coming off the course in sweat stained polos with sweat stained khaki pants after a round much more offensive than cargos and a shirt - where the player is allowed to breath. You know no smell etc.... If you want to continue to think that you golf "real places" because they have this dress code - go ahead but please don't fool yourself into thinking you are some sort of well heeled gentleman because of it.

So what scientific evidence do you have to prove your theories? Clones do have to have a quality to them, any idiot can sell 2 sets, if you want to stay in business you have to make a quality set.The fusion clones my brother bought aren't exactly the same as a Callaway. Not the same metal etc. BUT they do have very similar head shape and graphite shafts. Full set of Irons 4-9 with AW, SW, LW for 200 bucks. Find me something similar. Clones from a reputable place such as Pine Meadow or Pacific Golf Center could hardly be illegal - they are very large and well known businesses here in the US with a large internet following - granted the US Justice system isn't the best but I am sure if they were illegal they can be easily found and shut down by the DOJ.
-
It's the material they are made from. Plus cargo's tend to be fuller cut with room for all the stuff I don't want banging around my bag. I have to ask then - if cargos are nothing but a PGA short with a pocket - what makes them do damned evil to you? Does the pocket bother you?
-
Little brother got his clones last night. Went and did a fast 18 with them. Beat his personal best by 8 strokes. FIRST time. Went from a set of Accuity clubs to Fusion clones. He loves them and for 200 bucks I can see why.

The misplaced idea that attire some how makes you more valuable or higher placed in society. The man was at the time one of the richest 400 people in this country - his family owned business does several billion a year. Some here equate "reputable country club" (and by extension "reputable people") with what type of clothes they wear. I was pointing out that it's BS.
-
As a veteran, I would much rather buy Made in the USA. Can I all the time? I don't know but it is something I do look for.
-
Maybe... I've walked around Pebble in shorts - not golfing but literally walking around and no one said boo to me. I don't judge people on their clothes - I have eaten lunch with people on the Forbes 400 list - he was wearing jeans. Some people like to think that golf is somehow above the average Joe of society because of the high dollar entry fees to a country club - if they measure that by khakis and polo shirts and it makes them feel better about themselves, well I feel sorry that they haven't anything truely meaningful in their life to hold onto. Some golfers are trying to cultivate the image based on the expense of the clubs or clothes - hate to break it to them, there are many sports out there where golf is very inexpensive compared to. (Sporting clays for one, $18,000 shotgun is nice but hardly upper echelon)

I understand your frustration. I've stopped clicking on the Miller insulted Rocco thread a long time ago. As to keeping it on topic for this thread. TM - driver and woods Callaway x-20 irons Vokey SM wedges SC putter TM red balls
-
Then again the thread title didn't leave much to the imagination. My cursor flys over the page and where it stops is up to me. Were it to bother me so much - stop left clicking on the thread title.

The fact no one is trying to talk me out of it.......... You guys aren't helping!!! lol

Yes this isn't a Charcoal Mist but what appears to be very excellent gun blue.
-
Thank you - exactly what I was looking for. Now to decide if I really want it at 150?
-
Tha't the prob - ebay is so unreliable - I see 2 putters, the same, go for priced that are 50 dollars appart. The problem with auctions are - emotions set in. I need something clinical. NADA type of information.
-
I was wondering if there is a NADA type of thing to get the value of a club. I have my eye on a SC Circa 62 #2 in great shape - legit the whole deal for 150.00 and I would like to know if there is a place where I can see if this is a good deal or not. So is there a web site where a guy can make sure he isn't getting taken for a ride?

Don Schneider went to work in blue jeans - I mean he only ran and owned the largest privately held transportation/logistics company in the world. My question is this - if we won't tolerate it on your local golf course, why do we then tolerate it anywhere? Go into a restaurant and you see all kinds of things - guys in tank tops (exposed armpits around food) or the like yet you won't and don't allow shorts or a t-shirt while hitting a little ball with a stick. It's the hypocrisy that gets me.

Appropriate etiquette when golfing in a group with people you don't know

Just like a bar though - no religion and no politics and you should be fine. -
She is Ok to look at - she gets much better with the mute button. Seriously for a Stanford educated person her verbal skills are horrible. I can't listen to her at all. I keep waiting for her to say: I personally believe that, U.S. American golfers are unable to do so, because some… people out there in our nation that don’t have golf balls, and I believe that our golf courses, like such, as in South Africa and Iraq, everywhere like such as, and I believe that they should… our golf education over here in the U.S., should help the U.S., er, should help South Africa and should help the Iraq and the Asian countries so we will be able to build up our future golfers.., for our…

Yeah - I started to cultivate an active interest in golf back in 2002. At that time the wife (now ex) started her issues and all my spare time was taken up dealing with that BS. Oh and btw - I happened to be living in Monterey Ca at the time so - perfect time to get involved and perfect place but she (a woman) screwed it up - so yeah they can.
-
Depends on if her shirt is tucked in Yeah - they can, if they are the type of woman to monopolize your time or if you have to promise the world to them so they "let" you take the day and golf. You think more about that than what you are supposed to be enjoying.
