  1. Did you SEE what happened to Jerry Pate on Sunday? Good god, gag me with a mashie-niblick! What a CHOKE job! The three footer to win, wasn’t just missed, he MISSED THE HOLE! And the 8-footer “free look or go home” on the 1st playoff hole was ATROCIOUS! Man is golf cruel! I am a Jerry Pate fan, so I was bummed to see it. Also, his caddy taking the 5-iron out of his hands on the 72nd hole to “lay up” a 185 shot was the most insane thing ever. This is the same Jerry Pate who RIPPED a 5-iron to 2-feet in 1976 to win the US Open at Atlanta Athletic Club? Sheesh. If you heard the exchange on TV, Pate’s talking yardage “so we got 180 carry, 185 to the flag” and then his caddy mumbles and Pate annoyingly says “so what do you want me to do, lay up?” Pate should have fired his caddy on the spot and said, “look here douchebag, I may be coming off a 20 year layoff because of a bum shoulder, but I’m NOT laying up from 185! Water in front? Who cares? I’m still Jerry F’ing Pate!” He sticks the 5-iron in there to 15 feet, rips the bag away from his donkey caddy, and then walks up the 18th fairway to a standing ovation with his heavy Tour bag on that once bum shoulder. Oh well. Meet Chip Beck. He laid up once also. How did that work out for him? (copied from another site, but thought it was worth posting here)
  2. I gotta agree that she seems to be in tremendous shape. Very big and muscular. But after watching her attempt at playing on the LPGA I'm thinking that she might be better off playing in one of those Ladies Pro Football leagues.
  3. I agree with this point about those plastic tees. They can leave some might nasty marks on the bottom on your club. In fact I didn't think anyone used plastic ones anymore. And in the heat of the summer it seemed they were sometimes tough to stick in the ground without them either bending or breaking.
  4. I am revising my opinion on Dottie Pepper - I just saw her on a Golf Channel program . . . . she looks like she ought to be coaching in the WNBA unless there are still some professional ladies wrestling somewhere.
  5. Seriously I read she withdrew due to complications from her back!
  6. It could have been she wasn't happy with the way her hair looked this afternoon.
  7. Sorry to hear about the WD . . . I was looking forward to watching some of the Corning tonight on tape delay on the Golf Channel. I will spare the rest of you any of my thoughts about her back injury. I am sure alot of you are thinking the same thing I am about the "two" causes of her ailment! I hope Barbie gets another chance and in another LPGA event. And I am sure Annika is relieved to see her drop out of the tournament.
  8. VERY IMPRESSIVE!! Annika is truly a great LPGA performer . . . one of the best of all time!! Now if only she would take 3 minutes a day out of her exercise routine and shave that mustache.
  9. ONLY it seems if he finishes FIRST and Tiger plays and finishes at least tied for 3rd with 5 other golfers . . . or some other damn formula they use. And I'm not a fan of Mister Singh.
  10. Congrats to Annika, unfortunately she is making the LPGA a little boring with her domination of the field. Maybe to even things up they could her force her to gain 50-75 lbs. (especially in the "trunk" area) that way she would have the same handicap as most of the other ladies in the LPGA.
  11. I agree Raf!! Which chick . . . the left one or the right one is the better golfer?
  12. These rankings are a joke. Must be formulated by the same nitwits who rank tennis players. By the way - in my opinion Vijay should be rated no. 1.
  13. Welcome from another newbie! So far this place seems very informative and friendly. Hope you enjoy it as much as I have.
  14. Hey PGAfan790 - could we possibily turn this thread into a political skirmish?
  15. I picked up a 7 wood last fall and love it. I hit it approx. 180. With the height of the ball when I hit it good it just drops on the green real nice, very little roll. This along with my 5 wood has taken that 3 & 4 irons that I had a real tough time with out of my bag.
