  1. Don't discount the 695CB's just yet. I was very close to pulling the trigger on the MB's. In the end, the CB's combined with Rifle Project X shafts were the ticket for me. The CB's have decent feel, good workability, and just enough added consistency to make a difference. On good days, the MB's were perfect. However, those days when the swing is a little off, I am happy I chose the CB's. But the MB's do look soooooooo nice. -------------- Handicap: 0.8 Titleist D2 10.5 YS-6 Stiff Titleist 904 F 15 YS-6 Stiff Titleist 695CB's Rifle Project X Titleist Vokey 52, 56.5, 60 Titleist Futura
  2. I have been playing the 905R (11.5 w/ YS-6 Stiff) for 1 year. Our club is lucky enough to have the Titleist Launch Monitor. This really helps to quantify the performance of the equipment. I have been playing the D2 (10.5 w/ YS-6 Stiff) for the past two weeks. The new D2 combined with the new ProVX decreased the loft by 1 degree. The sound is noticeably different. However, after 10 minutes on the range, the sound becomes comfortable - Unlike the new Cobra and Nike drivers which sound very loud no matter how long you use them. I do feel (and the launch monitor confirms) that the new D2 spins less than the 905R. The two clubs are very similar. The black finish on the D2 looks great. I could easily stay with the 905R if I had to - luckily I don't have to :).
  3. I just got my hands on the new 585h with Fujikrua 904HB Stiff. (Previously used the 503h / Rifle 6.5). Very good looking club at address. Much more "wood" like than the 503h - somewhat similar to the Taylor Made hybrid. The 585h is much easier to hit off of the fairway /out of the rough than the 503h. The launch angle appears to be higher with the 585h (might be the difference in the shaft - but probably the difference in the head weighting). For those of you who struggle to make the 14 club limit, this can easily replace a 4 / 5 wood or 2 iron. In my case, I go Driver / 19 degree Hybrid / 3 iron... This is one great club.
  4. FYI - I was in the Titleist tour van this past week at the John Deere Classic. One rep said Sept. The tech in the van said first of the year. BTW - The 585H looked great - so does the new fairway wood (very similar to the 585h).
  5. Our club pro was able to get the Titleist Launch Monitor system for 10 days of use. This is basically a computer system that is hooked to a sophisticated camera. The device measures launch angel, ball speed, spin rate, etc. 50+ players (myself included) were tested by the system. I have a +1 handicap and would be considered a long hitter. I thought that my equipment (Titleist 905T 9.5 w/ Grafaloy Blue Stiff; 690CB’s w/ Rifle 6.5; Pro V1X) was well suited to my game. The results of the Launch Monitor: 11.5 Degree 905T with a much softer stiff / reg shaft, change to the Pro V1 in order to obtain higher spin rate, and weaker shafts in the irons. The change in the driver resulted in 20 additional yards of carry and additional 5mph ball speed. Not to mention that the 11.5 degree driver feels incredibly easy to hit down the middle. 49 of the 50 players were fitted with a higher lofted driver. Approximately 10 players were fitted with a 14 degree Ping Driver. If you don’t let you ego get in the way, I bet the majority of you guys would drastically benefit form a little (or a lot) more lot and a softer shaft. If you have the opportunity to use a launch monitor – DO IT.
  6. I contacted Titleist customer service (irons) yesterday and inquired if there was an official release date set for the 735CM's. Aug 15th is the date. Here is the actual response: "Below is the answer to your question submitted on 07/31/2005 QUESTION: I have been waiting for the release of the 735CM's. Our club pro is using a set and I love them. Can you tell me a release date for this set of irons. Thanks, Paul ANSWER: Thank you for contacting Titleist Golf! The release date for the new 735CM irons is Aug.15th. Thank you again for your support in Titleist Golf. Dylan Consumer Relations"
  7. Our Titleist rep was at our club today. I played with a set of 73CM's / rifle 6.0 shafts. I currently play the 690.CB's. The 5 through 3 irons are very very similar to the 690.CB's. The P through 8 are blade like with some forgiveness. The 7 and 6 irons are half way in the middle. After the round I told our pro to order a set as soon as they become available (The rep said within the next month). This is a set that gives you all of the benefits of a perimeter weighted cavity back with the feel of a forged muscle back blade. With out a doubt the best set of irons I have hit.
