  1. Downhill with wind. Good job.* Only slightly downhill. I have a good swing is all. I'm tall and strong and so I have a lot of leverage. I'm gonna start taking a camera on the course and start taking pics of my big drives. No one believes anyone without proof here.
  2. That's perfect! Don't start tuning up the power yet. If you can do that at the range for an hour straight for a few days and develop some muscle memory then you can start putting some power into your swing and adjusting. I'm glad you figured out and good luck!
  3. I believe 100% that you must get worse before you get better. I had a bunch of swing tweaks a couple months ago and for a while I thought I would never get my game back and then I just worked hard at the range and I've improved my long game greatly. But do the golf digest thing because if your long game is good, no offense, but your short game must need a lot of work if your crushing the ball but have a 16 handicap.
  4. Well then if that's the case. Start keeping track of all your Putts, chips, up and downs, fairways, GIR's and Sandys. Go to the Golfdigest.com stat tracker and see where your lacking. I'm a six handicap on the tracker and my long game is a -3 and my short game is 12. It just shows you what to work on because if your hitting everything straight don't change a thing! Believe me it really opens your eyes when you start seeing how many putts and chips you have in a round. Anyways...are you even struggling with anything long game wise? And look at John Daly, he goes waaay past parallel and still hits a straight bomb. Like I said, if it works don't change it but figure out where your game is lacking and then ask for advice because it sounds like you don't really need any swing advice, but just tips to sharpen your game.
  5. Golf Digest has a pretty good stat tracker that I use. Doesn't give you an official USGA handicap obviously but it's free and has a lessons library.
  6. I turned my slice into a hook and in my opinion it's much easier to control. It's just a matter of toning down the turning over of the wrists which causes a hook in the first place. With a slice, there's no control, it just happens. If you do develop a hook, all you need to do is concentrate on a snappy hip rotation which will keep the club face open and when your wrists turn over, that will cause a high draw. If you get wristy however, you'll hook so just be careful of that. If you don't snap your hips around you hook since the clubface will be shut. Good luck, hope I helped.
  7. Post a video. I'm 17 120 some odd pounds and I CAN and have hit over 300 yards before so I honestly believe I could help if I just saw your swing Face on and Down the line. PM me.
  8. First off...SLOW DOWN! You lose your balance way too often and if you slow down you'll have the same if not more distance and a lot more control. Grip the club very loosely. I know this sounds crazy, but you shouldn't have one white knuckle. Even if you think your gripping lightly and you have a white knuckle, you're still gripping too tightly. This will allow the club head to turn over naturally, which will cause a straight shot or draw. Next...you're swing is huge. Don't stretch out so far because then you become all...JELL-O ee is the only 'word' I can think of and will cause you to lose a lot of distance and you won’t be able to shape shots as easily because it will slice or hook every time. I’m sure you pull or slice your irons and have a wicked slice with your driver. All you need to do is rotate your left shoulder + arm back until you can feel your bicep on your pec then think about throwing the club out and keep your head and wrists behind the ball to a certain degree. If your wrists are ahead of the ball the clubface will be wide open. You have to maintain a compact swing, which is where the real power comes from. Try to feel as relaxed as possible bring the club up and think smooth and fluid, not power. Also when you stretch that far out you get a lot of lateral movement (side to side), which will cause slices and skulled shots. You're head should stay almost perfectly still over the ball, but will shift a bit on your downswing. If you look at a pro's head during the backswing...it doesn't move a fraction of an inch. If you have any questions just PM me. Sorry if it seemes like I'm tearing your swing apart but I'm not, just saying what I see. Hope I helped.
  9. I have been pushing lately and the reason is that since I try to keep a really loose grip, I don't set the club at the top. I kind of let it droop which causes a bit of a push. My suggestion is on the range or on the course I guess, bring the club up a little more than 3/4s and make sure you don't feel the club slip close to the meaty part of the thumb/palm.
  10. I can honestly say that my game improves greatly. 3 or 4 strokes...which doesnt sound like a lot, but when you average 79 or 80, it makes a huge difference.
  11. I am sort of in the same situation. I only hit my driver around 285 consistently but about two rounds ago, I crushed my 5 wood off the tee: 287 on the first hole (Obviously it wasn't a completely 'proper' shot. It was hugging the trees like mad and power drawing, then it must have got a good bounce off a small slope surrounding the forest (no pics on the scorecard right?)). I took a picture of my 287 I was so proud of it :). But anyways...I've recently been trying to find a 3 wood that I can hit farther than my 5 wood with no luck. The one 3 wood that 'feels' longer (the range I was hitting at was only 245ishyds then it just goes into bush) but I haven't seen it go farther yet. In my opinion it would be nice to have the 260 - 275ish range off the tee between a normal 5 wood (245-255ish) and my driver, but obiously if you're hitting it that far it's just a waste of money. I've given up on my search.
