  1. I tried the r7's, Mizuno mp52's, Callaway x-22's, and the Ap2's. The r7's weren't my first choice hitting in the store but once I played them on the course, I knew these were the best for my game. Even so, the mp 52's were unbelievable...
  2. That's awesome. Congrats on the good deal too. I spent this past weekend in Birmingham (AL) looking everywhere for a set of new Hogan Apex irons myself, with no luck. I did however finally hit some Mizuno irons and fell in love with the MP52 irons with the project X rifle shafts, talk about buttery smooth...... In the end, I ended up with an open box set of Taylormade R7's 4-AW for $199! I feel like I stole them
  3. I think you will find the r7's by taylormade give very similar performance to the Burners, and can be bought for 3 bills with a little haggling. The r7 irons were a very solid design, and to me there was no improvments made when the Burner irons were released. That being said, what were the shaft differences between the two irons if any? Flex and rifle shafts versus TM t-step shafts will give very different feel when hit side by side. Good luck, and remember the length of your irons are not near as important as the accuracy.....
  4. First work on your grip, alignment, and then your swing like many people have already suggested. But I would recommend the Nike 5900 cut down about a half inch to an inch. They can be bought very cheap, especially used and are verrry straight. If money isn't too much of a problem, get the Dymo2 for $199 and cut it down as well. After all The Dymo2 is the driver Tiger said was too straight...
  5. The r7 is a great looking and performing driver. In the end I ended up exchanging it though because I did lose about 10-15 yards because it is all carry with this club and my swing with very little roll. I hated to make the switch because this is a great buy on the R7. Try it on the launch monitor before you buy because ballooning the ball has been a complaint with alot of the reviews. I chose to ignore when I purchased it and had to learn the hard way...
  6. What is probably happening is you are hunching over to compensate for your height and thus hitting the ball correctly. The Golfsmith employee was more than likely just looking at the impact tape and or lie board if you were using it, and not trying to analyze your swing. Your instructor who is trying to fix/adjust your swing recognizes that you are compensating and is correct in his assumption. But like others have said, nothing beats getting out and hitting your clubs to determine what is right for you. Everytime I hit a new driver in the store I crush it straight down the middle.....
  7. I tried the Golf Logix app for my Tour today and all I can say is wow. Yardages were right on, and the ease of use is great. Yardages were checked with Bushnell laser and were right on. For less than $40 a year, I would absolutely recommend this if you already own a Blackberry or Iphone.
  8. I just downloaded the golflogix app for my Blackberry. I will be trying it out this weekend and post my findings. Anyone else try this yet?
