  1. here's a question: i bought a 909H 19 deg 2 months ago and love it.. i use it off the tee and more recently off the fairway. off the tee i get an easy 215-220 metres carry and off the fairway i get at least 200. i am thinking about getting the 17 degree in place of my 3w .. and just not having a 3w at all. the hybrid is so much easier to hit and much, much more forgiving. my real question is (and it's a bit of a dumb question sorry) roughly how much further would a 17 deg carry on my 19 degree?? it's got to be 20 metres at the very least to do this. at present i have an old, old callaway warbird 3 wood which i need to replace either way.
  2. thanks a lot for that.. i will give that a try. it has crept in and a couple of weeks ago i had a lesson and the coach was getting me to move the ball away and address it right on the toe.. this is contrary to what i found myself a few years ago that by moving the ball closer i fixed it myself. by far the best fix, in my opinion, is something that you find yourself on the range.. as long as you have a good swing and an understanding of the fundamentals of the swing (which i do). but i'm not the type to argue with my coach and tell him he's teaching me the wrong thing. you gotta love this game... you really do!
  3. i have them now (hosel rockets)... if i remember correctly, some time ago i found that moving the ball a little closer fixed it, strangely enough. nothing worked for me at the range the other day, not even putting the ball a good 4 inches further out from where i normally place it. i really don't think it's much about ball position at all, otherwise it would be an easy fix. it makes me want to swear really loudly when it happens.. and of course the anger and tension build-up is just awesome..
  4. my coach told me to actively turn my hands over through the ball... this is a tough mental challenge because i don't want to be thinking about doing things with my hands in any way, shape or form in my downswing.. but it did work. your problem may be an outside to inside swing plane or open club face at impact (or both).. best is to video you swing and see what you're doing.. it could be many things. one thing that also works for me is holding my hands 'firm' through impact.. suggest you try one fix at a time. i would question pointing the toe in at address..
  5. titleist drivers really are more of a player's club than many others (although not all).. like a blade as compared with a cavity back, they are harder to hit well and less forgiving on off centre hits. but the flip side is that you do get more control overall when you do hit the centre.. it's a hard thing to describe. it's like the difference between the original wilson pro-staff tennis racket that sampras used and federer currently uses (although federer's is painted to look like the latest model) compared with most other wilson rackets used on the tour... the pro staff gives you unbelievable control but you need to swing/hit well and get it in the middle to experience that control. anyway, i have a 983k with a stiff shaft (titleist brand shaft which i don't think they make any more) which i absolutely adore and for the first time ever actually feel confident with at address. my question is, it's an old model (2004/5 i think) and i bought it second hand. do drivers wear out in time?? should i think about replacing it? i still hit it 270 metres more or less. i love it so much that i don't use my 3 wood any more.. i just choke up on my driver and tee it lower for 230 metres.
