  2. I bought the strips online, but not from Golfsmith...........I haven't had any problem either. As well, my regular golfing buddies are already in line for a regrip. I don't know which philosophy to work with yet...."give a man a fish, and feed him for a day" or "teach a man to fish, and feed him for a lifetime".
  3. I was in dire need of some new grips, and after some research and YouTube info, I decided to take the do it myself plunge. You read about the bad experiences, the mess etc, but I decided to try it anyway. I bought some GP New Decades, a rubber vise grip, some tape, a hook blade, and no odor mineral spirits. I have no negative to say about it. Very straight forward and pretty darn easy to do. What's nice is my grips will now be changed out more often. For those considering it, don't be scared, it is a very doable endeavor. Don
  4. Thank you all.....Misery sure does love company. Now to go to work on a bit more "ball striking consistency". Don
  5. OK, let me put it another way.....are there any other 11 ish handicappers out there that shoot a once in a great while 100?
  6. OK then, are there any other 11 ish handicappers out there that shoot a 100 every once in a great while?
  7. Thanks all........great help........one of the questions I still have is does an 11 handicapper shoot a 100 every once in a great while?
  8. Hello All: I am having trouble believing I am an 11 handicap. Here is some background. I play only between 12-16 rounds per year. I have had an established handicap for 15 years. I shoot in the high 70's on a very good day, and on a bad day, I am in the mid 90's. Last year my best round was a 79, and my worst was a 96. I played the other day and was horrible with a 100. Is this the norm? I just really don't feel like an 11 handicap, especially after carding my first 100 in quite a few years. Does an 11 handicap shoot a 100 once in a great while? I know I am physically capable of some pretty decent golf, so could my hang up be mental? Any info/advice is greatly appreciated.
  9. Well, I'm back from my round at Genoa Lakes (35 to 47 degrees/a bit frozen ground wise) .... I did not play well at all. Not all of it was the new irons, as I hit some very poor shots with my other clubs. I have to say that these irons give you immediate feedback as to how you hit the ball. The one thing I did notice was that on several occasions I hit a shot...say a 7 or 8 iron, and it was right on line, looking pretty good, and then came up very short....so obviously a toe or heel. On some of the shots, it was very evident I did not make good contact. I feel that in the end, these will be a good fit for my game, but right now, I look forward to my next round, as it can only get better.
  10. I have been playing with Callaway irons for the past 12 years....I scored a pretty good deal on a set of Mizuno MP 68's 5-PW,along with the 52,56,60 MT 10 wedges. I am playing with these for the first time tomorrow. I have hit about 150 balls with them and like the feel so far...You know immediately how you hit it. I am a bit nervous in that you do hear that blades are for very low handicappers. Will report back. Don
