  1. Lets not go that far. I dont particularly care how long it takes me to play a round, but Im not going to inconvenience anyone else in the process.
  2. Youre pretty much on the money. Im not condoning slow play in any way, shape or form. Im simply saying you have the choice of how to handle things. Once youve exhausted your options, you might as well sit back and relax, cause nothing is going to change. The only one suffering is you.
  3. Im starting to question the reading comprehension on this site. Im not defending the group in front of the OP, nor am I defending a person driving slow in the fast lane. Im saying its foolish to allow either to effect your mood very much as you have no control over anything or anyone except yourself.
  4. Basicly what Ive taken from this whole discussion is that people are different. Some people like to take their time, arent concerned about how long a round takes them and are just out there for the enjoyment of the experience. Others like to be on more of a rhythym, dont want to spend 6 hours on a golf course, and are also there for their own enjoyment, but that enjoyment is dependent upon other factors as well as golf itself. I figure in the end, so long as slower players are mindful of people behind them then the problem is solved. Thatll never happen, as there will always be those who simply dont care about their fellow player, but at least most are considerate of others. Personally, I could give a **** how long anyone thinks it should take me to play a round of golf. Im there to enjoy the scenery, the outdoors, to play a game and waste another day. I have no delusions of being a pro, though I do hope to improve my game. Im there for my own personal enjoyment of the activity itself. I will always be aware of my fellow golfers and allow faster players to pass me w/ no second thought. I wont allow others perceptions to dictate how I enjoy a hobby.
  5. Thats great, makes it cut/dry for everyone, but thats an exception to the rule I think. Most have that kind of statement, but I havent seen many w/ an actual time period designated. Here is my local courses: Pace of Play Slow play will not be tolerated. Course assistants will be on site to assist players and maintain the proper pace of play. Walkers will be required to maintain the designated pace of play. Again, Im not defending slow play by those who dont consider their fellow golfers, but I also think some are too quick to judge people or have too high expectations as far as a time period to get a round in. IMO they both are bad for golf.
  6. All thoughts help. I tend to like heavier shafts it seems. I played graphite shafted irons for a while, but ended up back w/ steel shafts which I prefer. My current setup is a 64g shaft, and as far as the weight goes it feels fine to me. I was a little surprised at how light the stock offering was, but they say thats to help increase swing speed.
  7. Just seems like trouble finds you, yet who's the only common denominator?* *Hint: Its you
  8. Hey TheNatural , from this and your other post, you make me think of a joke by Ron White with the punch line "Maybe its me"...
  9. The "" around your "appropriate" pace iacas are the key to this whole discussion. Its all relative. Who makes the call to what an "appropriate" pace is? Maybe all the guys complaining in this thread are blisteringly fast paced guys who have no patience? Point is that its impossible to say what is a decent pace of play as its all personal opinion. The key thing that should be taken away from this and all posts similar IMO is to be aware and courteous of your fellow golfer, whether it be in the form of allowing faster players through or in the form of not blowing up on a slow group in front of you if they are at least trying to be considerate of the groups behind them.
  10. Most of these posts Ive seen seem to be more middle aged gentlemen who are the slow players. 40-50ish years old. Not that it makes a difference, as they may be new to the game too, but I dont think you can say "Its those d*m kids" on this one.
  11. Would yall go w/ the stock RE*AX Superfast 49 shaft or a UST Proforce V2 65? They give you a few custom options on golfsmith for the same price so I figured whichever would be the best for the money.
  12. Ill address this one separately as I think it will better illustrate my opinion on the whole thing... Im not questioning or defending the slow driver in the fast lane. They are breaking the rules, and are not considering the other drivers, but their behavior is not under my control, so as I see it, I have two choices, 1. I can ride them, honk, flip them the bird and get pissed off. In the end, what have I accomplished? They dont care about me as theyve already made the choice to drive slowly in the fast lane. So basicly, ive gotten pissed, made a fool of myself, and Im still behind them in the fast lane going slowly. Now we have choice 2. I can see them, get upset a little, its only natural, go around them and continue on my way. Seems alot are choosing #1, more power to you if you want to live your life that way. Ill take #2 and be happy.
  13. Im not speaking in terms of the rules, as they were clearly violated in both circumstances, Im commenting on how you let it effect your mood. I guess its obvious that tone or mood is lost when conversing in this way, but I have not once intended on defending those who play slowly w/ no thought to others on the course. I think a few times in my posts I have said that explicitly. My whole points that I was attempting to make are two fold... 1. It seems foolish to me for someone to allow someone else to so negatively effect their mood and tarnish their enjoyable outting when such can be so easily avoided its not even worth it to complain in the first place. 2. I think some are overly critical and dont think of circumstances or situations that may be present to cause a person to play slowly. In this situation, it seems that the slow group in question were just inconsiderate and knowingly holding up play, but that is not always the case. Most people are considerate and aware of their surroundings. I simply disagree that there would be bedlam/chaos if the OP and the rest of the gentlemen stacked behind this group had simply gone around them to the next hole or skipped a hole for space and continued on. We are grown adults, its not like a bunch of 4 year olds trying to get to the lunch line first. And lastly, as others have said, I think its commonly a matter of unrealistic expectations. You are not going to get around a nice 18 hole course on a Saturday in 4 hours, I dont care how mindful everyone is, how focused the marshall is etc. If you go into such a circumstance w/ such lofty expectations, then youll undoubtedly leave feeling upset and not having enjoyed it as much as you could have.
  14. Thanks for the info. I think I will get it shortened quite a bit, probly 1.75". Any more adjustment needed Ill just choke up a tad.
  15. Thanks for the info guys. My thought process really stems from the fact my current driver is a "standard" 45" length shaft and I do struggle w/ consistency w/ it, and have always felt it was a tad too long. I figured the 46.25" would just be crazy. Im thinking of having say 1.5" or so taken off to get it in the 44.75"ish range since the 45" still seems too long.
