First of all didnt invent anything...took someone at their word went out and tried it..it worked for me.... therefore thought i would share it......if you want to know where it came from its from NEWHORIZONSGOLF.com......i dont have a golf instructor or "guru" as some of our infamous country club pros like to say.........just found something that works better than the most complicated golf swing than ive ever seen....instead of fundamentals we should call it "complications".. hell it took Ben Hogan most of his life to figure it out....lol...good luck.....and for most of you with closed minds good luck..youll need it as for me..im really very happy with a 4 or 5 handicap off the back tees at age 60.....email is BJMCD@hotmail.com...if you ever want to play...warning if you dont hit the ball over 250 then be prepared to be short all day long....because i will.....my last post as to the delight of most here...bye bye........ps..not quite gone yet....just wanted to say this...didnt say my swing was best for everyone..never said that..but def better for me and worth experimenting with if you have the "balls"... -

First of all if my swing matched that of your example i would agree with you....he has rotated his his forearms which have rotated his wrists to get to that position...think about taking your right hand by itself...keeping your palm facing the ball and taking it back as if you were gonna slap someone...would you rotate it open then back..i dont think so........ -

you need to read ALL the article.....the clubface is basically laying on the arc facing the sky....it is still "square to the arc"(180 or very close)....and my forearms do not rotate......put your left hand on the golf club and show 4 knuckles and you will see that your forearm doesnt have to rotate.....No forearm rotation.....when i see my club facing the sky its def perfectly square to the arc of the swing plane,,,if you say its 90 degrees then so be it(90 degrees to me is parallel to the arc)..if you rotate the club up then its perfectly parallel to the swing -plane or perpendicular to the arc...i call what you call 90 degrees laying perfectly across the plane and staying there until impact...does that help at all...if you see my swing you will just say its like my "teacher/guru".....the clubface simply "turns over" as the back swing progresses to facing the sky and to me the clubface itself is laying at 180 degrees......if you read the article you will see that...some students have some rotation while others dont........this if "you dont rotate then the club is over your head" is ridiculous!! -

Where you are totally off is that when we say square to the arc thats exactly what we mean..i think its terminology that goes wrong here....if you take a hula hoop..and put a clubface directly in the center of it facing the ground and slide it back keeping it on the hoop the clubface actually turns skyward somewhere close to parallell on the backswing...did you read the whole article?.... -

Sorry didnt mean to infer that i was the guy in the video(just noticed that you thought i was trying to say that the guy in the video was me)...no..i said that this is my golf swing...and as you can see the driver head is pretty close to facing the ground at parallel...now ive posted a link that explains(with pictures) why Tom Watson Moe Morman David Duval and others used this "square to the arc" method....but you no longer have to take my word for it(which you didnt).....just show me due respect and read the articles.........thank you.... -

I am able to use this method even with my driver and actually hit it further than using rotation...you know what else and this is with the irons of course...my divots are dollar bill long versus a small half dollar size in the dirt ...meaning the clubface has stayed longer on the ball and down the line...meaning better accuracy....i know youve probably noticed that since u use the square to the arc with your irons.......im curious...i use a very very strong grip...is your left hand strong on the club...thanks for your response...Roy -

Im having some "up to date" shots taken. hope to post them soon....but first of all....i understand what u are saying and dont mean any disrespect....if theres any rotation in my wrists it is certainly a very minimal amount...ive been trying to think of ways to best convey my thoughts on this.......and i think this may help..........1..my left hand on the golf club is extremely strong..in other words i have pretty close to 4 knuckles visible at address....with my right hand "covering " the left thumb as you would expect.....2...when i take the club back...my left hand simply has to hinge(with out rotating) and the right hinges back on itself...at 90 degrees the clubface is facing the ground....the right arm stays very close (doesnt disconnect) thru out the swing......in other words i try to keep 2 towells under my armpits when i practice.....the angle ive created is maintained(hopefully) thru impact......3.....If i was able to keep turning beyond parallel the club face would indeed face the sky or be damn close....Thanks Roy -

take a hammer hold it in your right hand....a 2x4 is standing directly in front of you with a nail started into the board from the right side of the board you will hammer the nail through to the left side...you certainly are not going to 'rotate' the hammer open then shut it back to hit the nail..you simply hinge the wrist and hold the angle and "hit" the nail..the most simple move there is....the wrists actually determine whether the clubface is directly on plane or square or perpendicular to it....with the hammer..the head always faces the nail...just as with the golfclub the face always "faces" the ball until its taken so far into the back swing that it eventually faces the sky unless you dont take it all the way back...very simple..AND...YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO TELL FROM A DISTANCE BETWEEN A SQUARE TO THE ARC SWING OR A CONVENTIONAL"ON PLANE" SWING....and this is also a "single plane" swing..because it doesnt go around AND up and then drops back down near impact.......not saying its for everyone but does indeed work for me....thanks Roy -

My swing.....this will compare the conventionalforearms rotation with the "square to the arc"...not "parallel to the arc"....golf swing...keep in mind that both swings are on plane but one is square or perpendicular to the arc and the othe is parallel to the arc....pay close attention as to how each is acheived......neither swing looks crazy at all.....lol hopefully the link works -

Not true....thats the first way that a golf swing was ever taught...ask any of the old pros....dont know how mant ways i can describe it to you...were not talking about your body rotating here were talking about your fore arms which are attached tpo the clubface..if you turn your body and dont rotate your forearms the clubface will be 'sqare" to the swing plane all the way up..you will find it pointing toward the sky at the top of the backswing.....the reason nthis works(AND IT DOES WORK) IS BECAUSE THE CLUBFACE NEVER LEAVES THE BALL AND IT STAYS SQARE MUCH LONGER THAN A ROTATING ONE!!!!/.... -

YOU KNOW WHAT.. if you dont understand something then tear it down...im not a friggin instructor...but i know my golf swing....and it will beat the crap out of yours..you got some money and some time will meet and decide what works.....then you can tell your friends u got beat by a golf swing thats impossible to execute!!!!....lol...youre a peice of work..now dont bother me unless you want to go play golf some where!!! -

take the clubface without a shaft....move it square to the swing plane all the way around your body and reconnect it at address..you will see the clubface facing the ball until it reaches about shoulder height where it will then start to face the sky ..then the back of the club will face the ball until u finally reach the address position again ....just follow the hoop (or swing plane all the way around your body with the clubface only).....its really simple the clubface never swivels it remains in one position the whole time...if it turns on the shaft at all its not true square to square..........hope to have some images by the end of the week to show u....take care..Roy -

actually it is..at evry position the clubface is square..once the wrists hinge(back on each other) they never change until after impact...the body rotates taking the club up on the arc behind the shoulder..the clubface actually facing the sky which is still "square to the arc" -

Its actually a natural position...if you were tp play a piano your wrist would have to break in that direction to get your fingers on the keyboard...not side to side like youre washing a window....more of a natural position to me then the conventional wrists cock -

ill have to get them..dont usually have them ready to show....just remember the forearms also play a roll in this they do not rotate either they dont have to...left arm comes straight across your body while the right shoulder and arm turn behind you while the wrists fold back on each other..they do not cock upwards..we still have lag and plenty of it coming down still facing the swing plane...there are a few pros that teach this swing..i found one online a while back i will see if i can locate him...vids and evrything -

think about it the wrist can cock 2 different ways....like youre curling hand weights(square to the arc)...or like youre washing windows(conventional) -

roy2xeagle replied to roy2xeagle's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
you are forgetting that the wrist cock is not the convention where the right wrist cocks up..the right wrist cocks to the right at the same time the left wrists also cocks to the right..i forget if its called supination or pronation....but that is what precisely keeps the club from rotating because any wrist cocking upward would cause the club to rotate..i will have to go find my videos.....i will try to get them later this week....its actually very easy not to rotate...unless youve been doing it for years -

roy2xeagle replied to roy2xeagle's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
no no no!!!..not true...no rotation at all..have it on film...right shoulder goes immediately around the body keeping the club on a perfectly square to the arc plane....much easier than all that rotaion...how far to rotate ..then rotate back to square..thats one of the reasons the "conventional" swing is so damn complicated...its easy ..just take your right hand put it on the club facing the ball take the club back..if you try rotating youll never hit the ball...Nick faldo used to parctice this all the time....David leadbetter uysed to talk about "cranking the lawn mower with the right hand arm and shoulder......ive done both..i know which one works for me.... -

by the arc i mean swing plane..If you take the face of your golf club at address,it is most likely "square to your traget line...Well if u draw your swing plane arc back and up like a tilted hoola hoop u have your swing plane of course....Think of your right hand(if youre a righty) as the clubface facing the ball....It should face the ball at all times until it disappears behing your right shoulder...your hands DONOT ROTATE....Your hands (instead of rotating clubface toe up)...just cock back on themselves keeping the clubface "square" to the arc or swing plane...its called supination or pronation i forgot which....Nick Faldo used to use his right hand just to hit balls to get this feeling..most important is the right hand (clubface faces the ball).....some pros(and amateurs) will tell u that your clubface is shut at the top..I dont give a damn if its wrapped around your left ankle as long as its "square" at impact..just think it "never leaves" the square position thru out the swing...u want more power ?..wait till u get a load of this.....good luck..im 61 and i can still hit it(at times 280)...most of the time 255-260 average...its a nice swing to learn to draw the ball and as we all know the older we get the "shorter" we get....i am still talking about golf here... -
im 61 i play from the back(i mean back tees as far as i can get),,,im a 5(best) handicap 8 (worst)..depending on what day of the week it is..but pretty consistent.....Ive been using sq to the arc for 5 yrs now.....i finally learned what i was doing and became a better golfer.........For 4 of those years (8 or higher handicap),,i was back and forth between "rotating" and not rotating the clubface.....meaning i felt more comfortable with square to the arc..but i would take a "lesson" and be told i couldnt play that way...when i finally decided what was best for me(sq to the arc) then i became much better..longer and straighter.....i play fg59 wilson staff blades(project x shafts)...2 wedges (cleveland 52 and 56)...a 13 degree 3 wood.....and a 8.5 taylormade xstiff diamana whiteboard shaft........when u really think about it the 'square to the arc" is much more simple(not as many variables or moving parts).....
