    wet sand shots

thanks for the advice. seems i have a couple for closing the face and a couple for openning it up. i do need to work on not fearing swinging through the shot.
  2. the shot i will never forget was on a shortish par 5. teed off and hit a pretty good drive down the right side of the fairway. got to my ball and without thinking pulled out a 3 wood and put probably the best swing i have ever had with that club on the ball. i was watching a shot that was going too long and a little left. a bird flew in from left to right and ran right into my shot knocking it down and to the right leaving me an easy chip and putt for birdie. the bird actually hit the ground, staggered around, and then flew off.
  3. it is that time of year in colorado when we can start looking forward to the afternoon thunderstorms. my question is how do you hit a partially dug in ball out of wet sand? When i try to take the sand with the ball the sand just grabs the club and stops it. if i try to pick it i tend to cut the ball in half. any tips here would be great.
  4. never fun to have your mouth shoot abetter score then your sticks!
  5. a friend of mine and myself were priviledged a while ago to be paired up with a veteran of the 101st airborne from WWII. the gentelman was wairing the division insignia cap and i asked him about his service. i happen to be a bit of a history buff and was able to talk to him about some of his service with a bit of understanding. i am in my early 40's and he was very appreciative that someone my age could talk about bastogne and his campaign through europe. it was a great round and about as pleasant of a grouping as i have ever had. when it was over i thanked him for the round and his service and was stunned when he thanked me for taking the time to learn and remembering. at that point what i shot didn't matter. anyone else have some good stories?
  6. what tees depends on what group of friends i play with. at one local course playing the shorter tees kills me. on some holes the layout takes woods off the tee box out of my game and long irons off the tee are not my forte. luckily we have many different kinds of courses around denver with different challenges so i have had to adjust more to layout then just yardage.
  7. i have had the scoring go both ways. shaky off the tee. erratic with the irons and looked at more score after 18 and be surprised to be in the low 90s. when i look back i find that had few if any three putts and 1 or less chip per hole. when my scores baloon it is the 50 yards and in that kill me. too easy to turn a birdie putt into a bogey if you get frustrated.
