  1. That's a great drill! I used to do that before playing in a competition....it's like you're actually playing. Thanks for contribution!
  2. The one I love doing the most is playing up and down contests with my buddies (if there is time). You alternate choosing chip/bunker shots around the practice green and get the ball in the hole with the least amount of shots (9 holes matchplay). What's your favourite?
  3. Hey Paul, the easiest thing to do in order to hit a draw is to have a closed stance (feet line pointing to the right of your target - if you're right-handed) and swing along the path of your feet. This inside to out motion allows the club face to be closed, relative to your feet line, creating a draw (ensure you fully release your hands as well!). Hope that helps. Sean
  4. For me, it's all about confidence....stepping up to the tee and knowing you are going to knock it down the middle. However, easier said than done. When I am spraying my driver all over the place, it's usually because my tempo is faster than it should be (I believe this is the biggest reason why most golfers have trouble with their tee game - it's a natural tendency to try and kill it off the tee). Confidence and a smooth tempo allows me to be much more consistent.
  5. I believe that was what's the hardest shot in golf, although I'm more interested in learning what segment everyone has the most difficulty with vs. one specific shot. Hope that's clear!
  6. For me, I struggle with my mid-iron play the most (had to rely on my short-game to rescue me). What do you struggle with the most? - Driving? - Irons? - Wedges? - Chipping? - Putting? - Bunker play?
  7. What I find helpful is focusing on releasing the hands towards the hole and on fully extending both arms on the follow through. I'm not aware of any drills to work on this, but try thinking about it during your swing and you should see a big improvement.
  8. I'm interested in hearing what questions you have about your golf game.....could be about any aspect of golf!
  9. I would definitely recommend using one grip. You should use the same tempo on any putt, it's just the take-away back and through is longer for distance putts. If you feel most comfortable using the claw for short putts, i'd try to make the long putts work with that grip as well - in the long run you will be more consistent.
  10. Hey Allin, I find that if you angle your shoulders to the slant of the sand (or any lie) will really help you make more solid contact. This automatically puts you in a better position to stay down on the ball vs. lifting up and skulling it.
  11. For fairway bunker shots, what I try and do is to keep my lower body very still (little weight transfer). You will lose some distance, but it is amazing how much more consistent your contact will be. Just take a club extra....try it next time you are playing.
  12. The best part about hearing your answers is that it's pretty much different for everyone....although the downhill lag putt might have swayed me to change my mind.
  13. I have always had debates with my buddies about this one....toughest shot in golf? I would have to say for anyone it's the 40-80 yard bunker shot, even the pros! What do you think??
  14. Some great tips so far. Two things that I notice most great golfers do out of the bunkers is as follows: 1. Swing along feet line - your stance should be slightly open, which allows you to swing along the path of your feet (outside to in relative to the ball). What this does is it creates a sweeping motion (mentioned above) and magnifies the loft of the club so that you can hit the ball high out of the sand. 2. Little lower body movement - I believe that keeping your weight transfer and lower body movement relatively still with bunker shots (compared to the full swing) creates great consistency. If you are very active with your legs, it will cause you to hit the sand in different places each time. The same holds true for fairway bunker shots. Hope that helps! Sean
