so I'm now going to focus on hitting my 3W and 3H. I never really bother hitting them unless I have to, but they are the final set of clubs That I need to be good with. My 3w I hit maybe 220 yards and my 3H maybe 225yds tops. My typical ball flight for these clubs are in to out fade and they are pretty low angled. My 4H which I love I can hit it 210-215yards tops. Any secrets to hitting the wood and hybrid? Specially the fairway wood? Cheers

I practically have no problems hitting my new driver now. It's a matter of tweaking the accuracy and power now. However, I have a hard time hitting my 3wood and 3h beyond 220 yds

Stretch... yes... I'm rather happy, but I felt really stupid. Well, I learned something new and it'll definitely stick to me for future reference. so now I'm wondering, when you open or close your stance, your back and down swing will be in line with the feet / body while the club face is pointed to the target correct? Thus Close stance: swing more inside and open stance almost out to in?

I can hit my 5 iron fine but my 4 iron is awful!
Sai-Jin replied to MB1630756's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Darn, Project X 6.0 ?? isn't that X-stiff shaft?? Mine is 5.5 and it's stiff enough... just wondering, who fitted you? I'm asking because I find that a lot of retail places who claim they can fit you well, don't... And maybe it's just one of those tiny little fix that you need to swing that 4i of yours. Like me... I had trouble hitting my new driver for 1 month... guess what the fix is... go back to a neutral stance... that's it... -
So my friend who is a golf pro took a look at my driving... guess what... he fixed 1... ONE bloody thing that didn't come to my mind... took him 3 minutes to fix me, in which 1 month I took and was unsuccessful... he told me to have a neutral stance ... and not do the Ben Hogan closed stance anymore... and BAM..... I'm back to hitting my driver 280+ yards... and not just 1 or 2 balls, but the majority of the balls out of 100 balls / bucket... I still can't believe it... my closed stance is what's causing the grief the entire month, not my back or down swing, not the ball placement and not the tee height...

Gosh, that's a lot of replies in this thread... so many to digest. Well , right now I have lost but regained some of my confidence with my new driver. But I know that I have a problem with relaxing and still have that "hit hard" mentality which makes my shoulders go up in tension. But anyways, this is what I want to focus on next: And yes, these vids are all titled for different purposes, but at the same time, I'm going to try to use his tips to see if I can further redevelop my driver swing. Right now, my right hand grip is rather strong and it's dominating, thus the first vid. the 2nd vid is more for my own feel, since I never knew if I were straight / stretched out after impact, but if those drills will help me be more consistent in the moment of impact,... So yea, let me know what you guys think and thanks to those who shared their opinions.

For me, what I tend to Do is forget that it's a 4i and think that it s 5i. They seem very similar to me. I don't use those clubs often honestly, but when I do tend to hit, I just try to forget that it's a 4i. Hope I helps a little -
I'm in the 2nd list for sure when it comes to woods and mid irons. I like to bomb tee shots and I definitely sacrifice some Fairway % for distance, even though it gets me in trouble at times. 150yds in (8i - wedges) I have a mentality of control and accuracy.
-
What's a control player? I do know that I have a 2 plane swing.
-
You know, I have heard this over and over and I still don't know if I even did it. And of course, when I try it.... it doesn't work for me. What is it exactly? How do I practice this?
-
Well, I needed to be clearer... ever since I got a new driver 1 month ago, I can't hit the club and I ended up losing all confidence and my swing... I don't have a slice problem, rather an address problem with the driver all of a sudden. So those vids are mainly for the "address". I see some people have a back tilt and some don't. I for one I tilt back, still have 60-40 weight stance front to back when I was swinging my driver 283yds average. I just got back from the range today and I combined the 2 vids and make it to a medium balance for my preference and it seems to improve my ball flight and I think I'm starting to get to the point of my old swing. So the answers I was looking for are: 1. How do the pros fix that open shoulder when they put their club face to the ball? (I fix this by making my right shoulder lower, thus tilting more) 2. Driving the ball... is it up swing? level swing? Down swing? I got so many different replies from people here and it's driving me insane. Again, "I" up swing the ball. 3. Do we address the ball by putting the clubface next to it? Or is it 4 inches from the ball?
-
So some of you know I'm having major issues hitting my driver... can't even hit it 150yds. Now what do you think of these videos? One addresses the ball by putting the club by the ball and tilting to the right. the other is a normal setup and puts the club face 4 inches behind ball, but doesn't tilt. I used to address by club by the ball and I ended up opening my shoulders at times and I don't even know the feeling of correct tilt. I wanna go try the 2nd set up. and Let me know what you guys think of these 2.
-
So it feels as if my head goes backwards on the downswing at impact? I have done this with my old driver and sometimes I ended up with a reverse pivot where I failed to transfer my weight to the front, rather I fell back. Question: The ball height, and tee placement is something I have to experiment myself right? lastly, how do you guys eliminate that open shoulder on address with the driver? I get that at times and had to fix it by taking my club face 4 inches behind the ball.
-
I just got back... Can't hit driver still... The only time I was able to is when I don't swing full force and I kept my head really still. Another thing also, for some reason, I was having a problem swinging in to out... my body won't let me do it, so I had to close my stance a little to compensate the out to in swing... sigh...
-
Thanks a lot for taking the time to write that much for me. You know I know about the "let the hands drop" , but I have never been able to consciously able to do it or know if what I did was exactly that. I'd like to try this one first, one by one. So how do I do this correctly? What should I feel??
-
I finally figured out why I was hitting so bad with my driver... my head and body moved up and to the left a little whenever I try to rip the tee shot. But when I focus on keeping my head still and behind the ball until after impact, I can hit it far again without effort. Then when I try to swing faster,... the result is usually a duck hook or a pull hook. Please help me? How the heck to I keep my body and head still yet drive it farther?

Driver was used for 1 round and a little bit at the driving range. Owned it since 2010 of Novembre. No scratches on the crown. Just a bit of impact scratch on the bottom of the face. Headcover is included as well as the original Taylormade Box for shipping to you. Selling this since it's my back up driver , just like the R9 TP back up irons I have for sale in here as well. Again. I always take good care of my stuff... maybe being too anal too. SOrry about the photo. I only have my phone to take photos with. PM me for any questions. **NO TRADE PLEASE*

Hello, This set was used ONCE for a round and was purchased last Novembre for a full retail cost of $1000 + Tax. I bought this set mainly as back up, for when my main Mizuno set needs a touch up and I ended up never using this set at all. Shaft is KBS Stiff and the rest is standard specs. Pretty much no flaw and the only scratch you'll see is on the bounce, which is very light. I never used this set on hard or sandy surfaces. I'm very anal about my belongings and I take really good care of them. Selling them to help me with my financial situation for 1/2 the cost I paid for + shipping to you. Will also include the original Taylormade Box they came in. Sorry about the low Q photo. I took the photo with my phone at night since I have no camera. The white / reflection in the photo won't be visible on the clubs. Just bad lighting. Please PM me with questions if you are interested. Sale is final. **NO TRADE PLEASE**

Ok.... my driver is still sucking... I don't know what's going on with my swing, but that driver feels heavy compared to my R9 . Called TM and they said it's practically the same driver only with extra sole adjuster. Anyone got a good video for me to watch? specially from all angles? Top of back swing, side and back would be great... Thanks

How conscious are you of you ball position?
Sai-Jin replied to upah's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
yes, I used to play the balls in the middle of stance and it's so inconsistent. With all my balls 2 inches from left heel, it doesn't require me to think where I need the ball at for all clubs. Also, I can take shallow divots with my set up. As long as my sternum is an inch behind the ball approximately at all times. -

Same stance width for all clubs, Zeph? -
I'll try those. Thanks for the tip

Ok, I just got back from the range and I am hitting it better and better now. Maxed out at 270 yds before it lands and rolls further. But I was only able to hit that shot a few times out of 50 balls. With this kind of driver, the more you try to smack the ball with power, the more you hit the ball low / duck hook, isn't it? Feels like this driver head and shaft doesn't have any forgiveness compared to my old R9 supertri TP ANyone can tell me? I try to be as relaxed as possible and sometimes it's just so hard to be balanced as in between relaxed yet fast. WHen I relaxed and just try to swing fast, the ball doesn't go anywhere... -_-

How do you hit the ball say 5-10 yards off a damp sand that's heavier than fluffier sand?
