  1. Thanks for the information. I have been trying to get my wife out to learn the game so a split lesson would be awesome.
  2. What do you think Jim Roy? Is he a pretty good instructor?
  3. What software do you use to do the side by side comparison? Sorry I don't have much to say about your swing I am struggling with my own. I do practice at the same range as you though :)
  4. Hey guys, I have a couple more videos. I have been practicing a lot, my irons have improved they have become the most consistent part of my game. My driver is still a mess though and from these videos my swing is still really flat, I am having a really hard time with the proper hip motion and I feel like I am compensating a lot in my swing but I have no idea where. I have a wicked slice still with my driver, I have been practicing my driver and fairway woods with a tee in my armpit but it still looks like my swing is an in to out. Take a look at these videos and let me know if there is any improvement from previous videos and what I am doing wrong. Driver front Driver DTL 7i front Thanks guys for your help.
  5. Craziest bad shot I have ever witnessed happened about 4 years ago at a local muni course. Myself and a buddy get paired up with this older guy. He was playing a really fancy set of clubs, all dressed up like a golfer from the 30's and at every tee box only used his driver (even on par 3's). Anyway, we get to the ninth hole, which is a par 3 maybe 160 yards with the clubhouse directly behind the green. We hit our shots, not particularly great shots by any means but safe and not in the clubhouse. So this guy proceeds to tee his ball up (I should mention he also tees the ball up about 4 inches off the ground), my buddy suggests he not hit his driver on this par 3, but he does anyway. He takes a huge swing that would have surely gone right into the clubhouse and cleanly takes the tee straight out from the under the ball, the tee sails through the air and the ball drops straight down onto the ground where the tee had been. It was all I could do to not laugh, it was the greatest miss I have ever seen.
  6. Thanks, for the videos. That last one is a complete revelation. I had no idea that I was supposed to be lifting my arms. I will practice this and hopefully get some more videos up. Thanks again for the pointers.
  7. Sorry, can you explain pushing my right hip towards the ball? Do you mean that I am not getting enough rotation in my hips? Also, I am not sure what you mean by lift my arms instead of tilting. I can see that my arms are starting the back swing, but my shoulders should be doing that right, with my arms staying fairly quiet?
  8. Is the chicken wing causing me to go off plane or is it the lack of hinge in my back swing?
  9. I noticed my right elbow flared out a bit at the top of the backswing, are you saying I should keep it close to my side? Will this prevent the arms from taking over the swing?
  10. Yeah the video were I slip is an outside range but, the grass up here isn't growing yet ( the temperature still drops below zero at night) so they have mats out, added to that it had just rained. Probably not the best time to be out at the range but I have the bug. What do you think of the most recent videos? I was back at the indoor range, and I feel like I was hitting it much better than the previous videos.
  11. Here are a few recent videos, I'm not really sure what to make of any of them. I know I need to work on how much my head moves but when I focus on keeping it still I literally cannot hit the ball. I think I am making some progress with the hips, I feel like they are getting forward through impact, and I try to focus on them starting the downswing. I think I have done a bit better of a job of not swaying backwards with my weight as well. We are also still on mats up north so it's hard to tell where my club is making impact with the ground, both of these shots were straight and felt good. Anyway take a look and tell me what you think. 7i Side 7i DTL Thanks again for all your help. The few simple tips I have gotten have improved my ball striking dramatically.
  12. I tried filming on my iPhone 4 but I find it doesn't capture all the frames of the swing. My digital camera has a fast frame mode that films pretty well.
  13. What do you guys think about thick putter grips? Watching KJ Choi putt I really like his stroke and the look of his putter grip. I tend to throttle my putter grip, but when I make an effort to ease up I notice my stroke is much smoother and controlled, I was thinking that having a thicker grip for my putter would help me to not grip so tight.
  14. Yeah, I am a Windows user. I have V1 home at the moment. I guess I will just spend the money and upgrade to the premium version. Thanks.
  15. Can anyone recommend a swing analysis application that will allow me to save a slowed down swing and allow me to view side by side? Preferably free, but if it has a small cost that would be OK. Thanks.
  16. My best round last year, the first time I broke 90 I just told myself each time I stepped up to the ball "This is just the range". Then I would swing, not every shot was good by any means but it was the most fun I have had playing golf. There was no rage, and I was hitting the shots I knew I could make. I think I even got two chip ins in one round. It's crazy how much of a mental game this really is.
  17. I was at the range today practicing keeping my weight centered, I can definitely feel a difference in the shot when I make contact it's just really tough getting myself not to shift the weight back. It takes a few practice swings and a swing thought prior to me hitting to maintain the weight over the center. I did notice that on a few shots were I really laced the ball I lost my balance, and I was hitting a few quite fat, though I chalk the fat shots up to me not concentrating and getting really quick in my down swing. I am going to try and get some videos of myself practicing and I will get them up asap. Thanks for the assistance. These few tips have made a huge difference in my distance and consistency.
  18. Tell me if I am understanding correctly. Looking at the images of Ben Hogan, on my back swing my hip should slide forward or at least by the top of my back swing they should have slid forward and then on my downswing my hips should rotate? Please tell me if I am way off base here.
  19. OK, so I spent a little time at the range working on moving my hips first. I think I made some decent progress but looking for an objective opionion. My ball contact feels way more pure, and it feels like I generating more power in my swing. Here is a video any feedback would be awesome (Video quality is a little sketchy, but I filmed it in high speed so there should be at least more frames this time).
  20. OK, I can definitely see how my arms are doing all the work and the hips are just kind of along for the ride, which is exactly opposite of what Ben Hogan and Tiger are doing. Any tips or drills to get the feel of hips leading the swing? This is something entirely new for me so I want to make sure I practice it properly. Thanks so much for all the insight.
  21. Yeah sorry about the crappy video quality. Quick question regarding the hips, I have a good visual in my mind of what I need to do, but not sure how it should feel. When I try to get more rotation in the hips should I feel a noticeable sway from back to front? Also, would loading more of my weight on the front foot help with the feel in my hips? Right now I would say that I have my weight 50/50 split on both legs, as I am learning more about what my hips need to be doing, in my head it makes sense to put more weight forward, but I don't know if that is correct.
  22. Thanks for the input. I kinda suspected my hips weren't moving enough, this is definitely something I am going to work on at the range next time. From the side view do my hands look flippy? I know the video quality is kind of poor it was taken on my iphone, sorry.
  23. Sorry, I will fix that right away.
  24. Hey guys, New poster (obviously) but I have been lurking for a while, reading and trying to understand the flaws in my swing. My issue is distance and a miss to the right. My average 7i distance from launch monitors is 130 yards and driver distance is maybe 220. I recently purchased the tour striker and my consistency has definitely improved but my distance remains the same. Here is a video of my driver, I can upload my swing with the tour striker if needed. Thanks for any input. Here is a semi side view, sorry for the angle couldn't get a better one.
