Some good players use lady wedges for better head feel. Also the club is 1" shorter for better control. In the good old days when I could really play, I used a Harry Vardon that was built around 1949. It had a dot face and the shaft was the first steel shaft covered with brown plastic to make it look like wood. The shaft was so soft it was more like a junior shaft, but I could make it talk around the greens. If I tried to hit it full it hooked bad, but from 60 yards it was deadly.
Also you might consider some of the softer Winn grips, they wear quick if your hands don't work well together, but the are great for absorbing shock.
