  1. I got my swing speed measured the other day and was disappointed to find that it was only 85 with a driver. I was keeping a loose grip and I am pretty sure I was taking my normal swing, but I rarely succeeded in breaking 90 mph. At 5'4", 110 lbs, I realize that I will be at a clear disadvantage in this area but I would still like to improve. What tips do you have for increasing swing speed?
  2. Are you rotating your upper body? It is possible that you are losing distance because, when you keep your left arm straight, you cannot make a full swing without turning your body. Try rotating your torso while keeping your spine at a constant angle. This should help you get the distance you want while maintaining accuracy.
  3. I didn't mean to come off as someone who is seriously bothered by people who play with the latest equipment. I agree that, if they have the money, they can buy whatever clubs they want. But it just seems to me that too many people invest too much in their clubs and not enough in their swing. If someone blades the ball 9 times out of 10, they have a problem with their swing that needs addressing, not a new set of irons.
  4. ...and the 3 year warranty.
  5. I haven't played with these clubs, but they seem to be fine. Since they are $250, you shouldn't have any problems keeping the heads tightly secured to the shafts. Now would be the perfect time to make some crappy pun about "releasing" the clubhead through impact, but I'll spare you the agony. Your welcome.
  6. Does anybody notice how many golfers out there try to "buy their game" by constantly upgrading their clubs, even when they have a hard time breaking 90? My driver cost me $25, I got my woods at Goodwill for $6.99 apiece, I bought a clone putter, and my irons (Tommy Armour 845s) were given to me by a neighbor, yet I consistently manage to break 90, and on good days 80. I am not trying to say that I am a great golfer because I play with crappy equipment, just that some people should consider curing their shanks before going out a buying a $600 set of irons.
  7. The first hole on the course I usually play at is about a 350 yard, par 4, that has a 90 degree dogleg to the right. You have to hit it 200 yards to get a look at the green, so I took my 3-wood and faded the ball over the turn. Unfortunately, I caught it so pure (imagine that) that it went to far and ended up in the rough. About 120 away, I took an 8 iron and punched it to the hole. I landed on the front and rolled all the way across the green and ended up lipping out of the hole.
  8. I think the key to breaking 80 is irons and solid putting. The other day I couldn't hit my driver if my life depended on it, and my woods weren't much better, so I played the entire back nine hitting 3 iron off the tee, keeping the ball in the fairway, and two-putting. I ended up with a 39, just because of all the GIRs.
  9. 60 foot put, broke 10 feet to the left, dead center, perfect speed....for par. Crap.
  10. It looks to me as if you as shifting your hips towards your right foot, and then your left. What you should be doing is keeping your hips in place while rotating them. To fix this try keeping your feet in place and moving your right knee a few inches towards your left before you swing. This will prevent you from shifting your hips back and forth and will improve your ball striking dramatically.
