  1. Now that's the kind of information I'm interested in. I actually got a friend to record my swing and it confirmed what my golf partners have been saying. My tempo is very smooth. As regards my left wrist, flat is definitely not the description. Some work required here. I hit some different flex shafts today and found the S300's to be the most comfortable and workable. I have been offered a set of nike vr pro blades for €300 ($385, £240) and can get a third off for trading in the Callaways. Have to say I'm very tempted. Loved the control I had with them.
  2. That's not much help but I get what your saying. Thing is, when I last got fitted the advice was to buy a driver costing over €400. On my budget I'm likely to be buying used clubs. Is it really worth getting tested before buying used clubs? Or do I get an idea of my specs and just go hit some different clubs at the range.
  3. Hi all, I'm have been playing Callaway X 14 pro series irons with Precision Rifle FCM 6.5 shafts for a number of years. I bought these in a local shop without any knowledge or advice. They just felt right for me.I'm now back playing regularly after a couple of years and want to make sure my equipment suits me correctly. I'm a six handicap that would like to get lower. I know my driver swingspeed is 104 and I hit my 7 iron 165 yards on average (irish conditions), with a higher than average ball filght. Are these shafts OK for me? Any advice on alternative shafts/ irons would be great. I know the obvious answer is to go get fitted but I would like to have understanding of what I'm doing before I get there.Thanks.
  4. Augusta is totally unsuited to someone who prefers to play a fade. That's why Nicklaus only won it six times. Seriously though I suppose the course changes have made it more essential to be able to hit a draw around there. Kaymer IMO has the ability and strength of mind to contend in majors on a consistent basis. A class act.
  5. 7-8 sounds about right. We have to remember he has only won three pro tournaments ( though I'm Irish and we have been talking of him as the next big thing for quite a few years). If he can get used to winning tight tournaments then the sky is the limit as I think he can win the Masters multiple times (Augusta fits his game perfectly). He and Tiger just have more natural talent than the rest. Wouldn't it be great to have those two head to head down the stretch?
  6. Quick update here. I picked up a Mizuno MP630 fastrack at a clearance sale last week (at the price couldn't leave it there). So far I'm more than pleased, the ball flight is nice with the weights properly set and while I haven't picked up much distance I am spending a lot more time on the fairway. Iacas review put me on to this club originally. Very accurate info. I need to read the reviews here more often.
  7. When it comes to a putter then whatever feels right is good. Most good players will change other clubs regularly but rarely change their putter. Technology doesn't really figure here, find one that feels like its yours and then learn to trust it.
  8. I appreciate this advice guy's. My local club fitter tells me an 8deg i15 with a project x 6.5 shaft is my optimum combination. To me this looks about right if I was able to play regularly. I'm just worried this is too unforgiving a setup for an infrequent player. I've never really looked at club technology before ( I'm a walk up and hit it golfer) and am trying to ensure I get the right club first time rather than second guessing on the first tee. Any further help/advice would be great.
  9. Hi guy's. Pretty simple question here, I hope. I play 2-3 times per week and am considering buying a new driver. I have a clubhead speed of 104mph and high launch. Will I benefit enough from custom fitted shafts to justify the expense, or can something like a Mizuno fasttrack with the stiff stock shaft provide most of what I need.
