I think your talking this in the wrong way. Oh and last time I checked I did say this site is a good site, and I have been a member here for 1 1/2 years. I'm just curious if iacas got the idea for the contest after seeing the reactions of various companies and/or the increase in members at THP. You seem to have completely missed the point of my post. Lemme try this again. You've heard the old saying "practice makes perfect," right? Well I feel that's wrong. If you practice bad habits you're just reinforcing them. I think the saying needs to be "perfect practice makes perfect." If you practice the right things you will get better. So take a Tour players 1000 range balls, they are practicing with an swing coach every time, and their mechanics are amazing. Now take a 20 'capper's 1000 range balls, they will hit say over half with the driver, but they will it it with such poor mechanics and such inconsistency that they don't gain anything from hitting it. I don't buy the whole "all they practice is driver," crap. Just 'cause you practice something a lot doesn't mean that your going to get better with it. That's just my 2 cents.

Iacas, I noticed that you guys are running a contest here on the site for 2 Leupold range finders. I think that is a great idea, and I commend you for your generosity. I am also a member over at The Hackers Paradise, and I have switched my time to that website as I feel it is a better site, although this one here is also a solid site. But I wonder where you suddenly got the urge to do a contest and give away a few rangefinders. I say this because, as you now I have been a member here for a year and a half, and in the past if you can keep the product you either keep it for your self, or give it to another staff member. Never have you ever given the product away, you may have sold the product in the Marketplace, but never have you given it away for free. Now I get to the mention of The Hackers Paradise (THP). I know that site was started by a former member here at TST, and you two had different views on subjects so the other man left. Since the beginning at THP, they have given away every club that they reviewed and were permitted to keep. I have wondered if maybe you have seen this, seen the reaction of not only the companies, but the growth of members, and "stolen" the idea for the contests. I may be wrong, but that is just what I see on the subject. Ban me from the site if you would like, or put me in the "penalty box," but you will basically just be censoring the website because you don't agree with someone else's statements, which is wrong. You realize that Tour players hit 1000's of balls in a week. Most people can't afford to hit the same amount of balls as Tour players. Plus Tour players practice with a purpose, and IMO practicing with a purpose is better then just randomly hitting the driver a bunch of times.

Not quite, with 110 MPH swing speed you can expect a MAX carry, that's perfect swing, perfect launch, perfect spin, perfect contact, perfect everything, is 275 yards. Granted that's on level ground, but you get what I'm saying. And on the iron loft thing, no set of clubs has 8* of difference between another set. the reason some sets of irons have stronger lofts is because they launch the ball higher so the loft keeps everyone from majorly ballooning the ball. Even then it's only a degree or two difference, with the extremes being 3 degrees difference, but that's rare.

Something isn't adding up here, with those numbers a 175 9 iron just doesn't make sense, and you don't live in like Utah where the air is super thing and you hit the ball farther.

What is you SS with your driver and your 6 iron? 175 for a 9 iron is above Tour pros average, and they play X shafts, you got S300s. If you really hit your 9 iron 175 then you went with the completely wrong shaft for your swing.

Okay, you've already gotten your irons, but a 175 yard 9 iron? Give me a break, you need to grab a GPS and get the real numbers. Plus you need to get on a hole where there is no wind, and also no elevation change at all.

I used to game J33 CB's and they were great. Bridgestones make great irons, I would say if your looking at the ZB's (which I game now) I would say check out the J36's. You can mix and match with all 3 models (blades, cavities, and pocket cavities)

No I'm not missing any point, you are changing your own. The bolded statement in your first post clearly says "what ever he wants." Not "something that looks like Nike clubs."

Plying in my 14th season, I play year round. And Liverpool? Puh-lease!! Man Utd. is even worse! Man City? Better, but not quite right. By the way they are in the relegation group at the moment. I would hope that they could get out, with some of the players that they have (Robinho most notably). But I wouldn't be surprised if they get relegated as City's better half of the season is usually the first half, and so far they aren't doing too good. Don't even get me started. My best advice would be to let her know that if she ever wants to go practice with you, hit balls, chip, putt, and so on, to let you know. Don't make her go play or practice. Just tell her if she wants to that's great, and if not that's okay too. If she really wants to play then she will ask you to go all the time. I think that is one of the reasons that I am into golf so much now. My mom asked me if I wanted to go to a golf camp at a local course, and I said sure, and 2 weeks later I had the bug. Also when ever you play or practice with her keep it positive and fun. Never say negative things, always comment on the good things she is doing. If she hits a wicked slice, don't mention that, just say "look how far that went," or "look how long that stayed in the air." Also, make little games with her, if she makes 5 putts in a row from 3 feet you will buy her candy, or something small that she wants. One thing that might work if she doesn't have clubs yet is to make little games, and make each worth X amount of points depending on the difficulty. Keep a chart, or at least track how many points she gets, and then say if you get 50 points then we will go and buy you any putter that you want. And so on, with her gradually getting more clubs, until she gets a full set. It will improve her game, get her clubs, keep her interested, and best of all, it will be fun for her. No, that would be one of the stupidest marketing ploys in the whole flipping world. If Nike pays Tiger millions of dollars, why would the make it so he didn't even have to use one of their clubs if he didn't want to? I mean seriously think about it. For the purpose of proving my point I will say you are correct, Tiger doesn't have to play any Nike clubs. So lets say next season Tiger wins the US Open again. All the new papers rant and rave over his win, back to back US Open wins. The monday after the US Open you turn to The Golf Channel and Golf Central is on at the moment. They are talking about Tiger's win, and they do the whole section about What's in the Bag of the winner. But not a single club in Tiger's bag is Nike. What do the fans think? Oh Tiger doesn't even play any Nike clubs, so I'm not going to buy anything from them. You may think this won't happen, but it would. Many people, hackers and player's alike, only give Nike clubs a try because Tiger Woods plays them. People think, ooh I'm going to have the same clubs as Tiger! If he doesn't use Nike's then not many people will try Nike clubs. I see all over different golf Forums (Golf WRX, TST, etc.) that many people don't think Nike makes good clubs, and they should have never tried them. And with Tiger playing other clubs those people won't try Nike's, they will try other companies, and Nike would be wasting millions of dollars on something that doesn't make them money. Now does that make any business sense? No? I didn't think so. The only club that Tiger can have that isn't Nike is his putter. He has a 13 club, full apparel and footwear contract. Anything less just wouldn't be beneficial to Nike.

And therein lies the rumors, they are caused by assumption. Sergio and Retief are both TM staffers. Yes Stow, Sergio uses TM irons, and so does Retief. But up until a few years ago (2 or 3) TM used Miura to make their forged irons, RAC CB's, and so on. And you can bet your money that TM would keep that relationship with Miura for their staff players, even without offering it to the general public anymore.

Regarding irons shafts, the new S57's have TTDG R300, S300, and X100 as stock shafts. The ZZ65's are basically S200's (at least that's what my coach told me, he's a Ping staffer.) And regarding the graphite shafts, the TFC shafts are made by UST, and are made to optomize ball flight in each club head. But with the Rapture V2 driver, the Diamana Blueboard is a stock shaft. In the fairway's and hybrid's you can get the JavlnFX M7 shaft as a stock shaft as well. And in the G10 series (driver, fairway, and hybrids) you can get the ProLaunch Red or the UST Proforce V2 High Launch. On top of these stock shafts, that you overlooked, PingWRX does an amazing job, you can get grinds done on wedges and irons, different shafts, lofts checked and changed, lies perfected, and they can do a lot with putters as well. Yeah your right. Nike reps will lie, but Miura reps won't ever lie! And for the record, I would believe Tiger's manager over a Miura rep. Like it has been said, sale's reps don't know any secrets of the company, let alone secrets about Tiger's clubs. Now this is a rumor, and I have no proof. But I have read on a few different websites that his shaft is tipped 1". If that's true his shaft would be a WhiteBOARD!

I think the reason you and your friends think they are "hitting short" is because you are looking at the number on the club and not the loft. that 10 iron from your last set is probably the same loft of your current 9 iron. The clubs aren't hitting short, your just looking at the iron number and not the loft of the club.

You can order most balls in high numbers (5-8), but with TaylorMade you can order golf balls with anything from 00-99. And with Titleist, Pro V1's have a black number, and Pro V1x's have a red number.

Yes, but he can get his permit. ks, I'm 9 days away from my license, and my best advice is to have him get his license and put him in multiple drivers ed classes for the next 2 years. Also, at first take him to a open area with nothing to run into and just let him get a feel for driving. Once he feels comfortable I would say have him drive short distances, to the store or other things that are similar.

I think I'm with you stow. It's amazing how many guys here swing as fast as the tour pros. I can't wait until I get there, I'm excited, I think it will bring my handicap down. But I'm 15 (11 days and that changes :)) 5' 3" and I have an average SS of 96-97
