  1. I have been playing the same irons since 1983. They are the original Tommy Armour 845s Silver Scot. Currently I am only carrying the 3-PW in my bag along with a couple Vokey wedges. However, I still own the 845s 2 iron, Sand Wedge and lob wedge. Recently, I have played two rounds with Callaway X-20 Tour irons and I like them quite a bit. I was fitted for them and will probably buy them as this season is winding down. The pro shop at my brothers club usually gives discounts as the winter approaches in Pittsburgh.
  2. I have had 4 eagles during my many years of playing golf. The first two were the most memorable. The first was at Tidewater Golf Course in Myrtle Beach. My buddy and I had a very early morning tee time to play. Later that day, Tidewater was hosting an event for NFL players for the purpose of selling property to them to develop homes around the course. Well, we ended up playing with Lawrence Taylor (of New York Giants fame) because he had other committments in the afternoon. We played the back nine first and it was either the 17th or 18th hole that is a par 5. I hit driver, three wood and then sunk about a 45 foot putt. Lawrence Taylor screamed so loud that it made me a little nervous to play the remainder of the round with him. My second eagle was a hole in one at Speidel Golf Course in Oglebay Park, Wheeling West Virginia. It is a Robert Trent Jones design and I hit a beautiful pitching wedge shot 124 yards. One bounce and a bit of a spin back into the hole. It was awesome. That was July 5, 1007. Two others since then but neither were as exciting as my first two.
  3. I'm new to this board, but I thought this would be as good a thread as any to start on. I played both Saturday and Sunday this past weekend. Both rounds I shot a 90. I got there two different ways though. On Saturday, I played Tom's Run at Chestnut Ridge in Blairsville, PA. It's a very nice course. On the front nine I shot a 49 due to five penalty strokes on a series of four very tight holes. On the back nine I shot a 41 with four birdie opportunities, but no birdies. Sunday, I played my regular course, Lindenwood Golf Club in Peters Township, PA. I shot my typical front nine of 46 on the Gold nine and a 44 on the Blue nine. Next week we will play the Red-Gold combo. (My favorite two nines.)
