  2. I currently play x100's but my launch angle with them is stupid high. because of my size (6'4 185) i have a pretty long smooth tempo swing. Almost that of a nick watney or sean o hair. My ball flight right now starts off normal height and rapidly climbs before hitting its apex and falling straight down. It makes shots into any type of headwind near impossible, and shots with a tailwind can fly an extra 15 yards unexpectedly. Id prefer a more boring trajectory, not necessarily lower, but just something that has a lower descent angle. Ive looked into kbs c-taper x flex's but I'm not sure of the benefits of those either. i like the weight of the x100's I'm playing, they're just going very high and I'm losing distance. my 6 iron and 8 iron distances are probably only 10-15 yards part because they balloon so much.
  3. well no disrespect to the company, but their selection of fitting options is very limited. Im 18 living in the retirement capital of the united states so basically every shaft in the fitting carts is a flex or regular. there are a couple s300's and project x 6.0's but nothing close to what i need. its frustrating haha. the only club that is an inch extra long is an s300 but if you extend a club an inch it brings down the flexibility a ton, almost making it an s200.... it sucks
  4. Hey guys, im taking a year off between high school and college to work and practice to get better. Im good enough to play division II or III right now but i really want to go to a big school and have some tougher competition. Im about to order titleist 712 mb's an inch extra long and 3 degrees upright, unfortunately i have no idea which shaft would be best for me. I like a heavy iron shaft, and strongly prefer a low penetrating ball flight. My 6 iron distance is 195 and i have a 97 mph iron swing (just got checked today, dad works at golfsmith). Im trying to get my launch angle down to about 17-18 and dont know the characteristics of each shaft. Project x 6.5, 7.0 or dynamic gold x100, x200? Any advice would be greatly appreciated! -James
  5. I hit down on the ball quite a bit which makes my longer clubs roll alot and not carry very far. my wedges go very far because of this though Driver: 285 carry 310 total 3 wood: 265 carry 285 total 2 iron: 235 4 iron: 215 5 iron: 205 6 iron: 195 7 iron: 180 8 iron: 170 9 iron: 155 pw: 145 52: 125 56: 115 60: never hit full swing but probably 95-100
  6. Oh haha my bad i just saw these clubs for the first time yesterday
  7. Anyone else seen these things? They won't come out for quite a while I imagine but they match the new Cobra amp wood line. First week that Rickie has had them in the bag. They look alot like Titleist 712's without the logos if you ask me though... hmm
  8. I am as well. tmag connection is where its at

  10. Cant go wrong with the titleist 910 series, but let me tell you what. I got to do a pre-view hitting of the Ping I-20... its awesome
  11. A common misconception about driver shafts is that the weight of the shaft affects stiffness. Shaft weight is entirely feel. Sergio garcia plays with a 105 gram shaft, and a few cleveland staff players like david toms use as light as 55, but they are both extra stiff. Sergio claims he cann feel the clubhead more and is more confident with it. So that part is entirely up to you. with a lighter weight shaft you will be able to swing faster, meaning that a 60 gram x flex would most likely be a better choice. the 70 or 80 gram diamana stiff would cause your swing speed to drop very slightly and your spin numbers would increase a lot. So fool around with what weight shaft you prefer (i use 70 in the driver and 80 in the 3 wood) and then go from there. Shaft flex primarily affects ball flight and spin. so if you would like a lower penetrating ball flight, go with the 60 x. P.S the kai'li is a great shaft but dont rule out companies like matrix, aldila, and even less expensive options like graffaloy
  12. Its a shame because he's actually been in contention a few times. This years british open he was on the first page of the leaderboard all 4 days and then fell off towards the end. Also, he's had the lead on sunday at 3 different PGA tour events and has never closed the deal. He's a really cool guy id just like to see him finish strong for once.
  13. I'm actually pretty sure hes still on with Cobra. However, he will still play prov1x, his scotty cameron, and most likely vokey wedges. Cobras new "Trusty Rusty" wedge looks like they found it in a trash can.
  14. my apologies i meant high and left. Forgot you were lefty ;)
  15. Definitely go with the X flex. Im 18 and working at golfsmith as well as playing collegiate golf next year. My swing speed is 116 and i was fit to the Aldila RIP X flex alpha. the fitting chart we use for our custom fittings at golfsmith is quite accurate. It says that with a swing speed of 85-95, a regular shaft is recommended. 95-105 is stiff, and anything above 105 is x. Id be willing to bet that your standard miss is very high and right because your driver shaft is too flexible. if what you're saying is true and your average is 106-109 then a lighter weight x flex shaft is what i would suggest. Some inexpensive ones to try would be aldilas. i know the aldila NV x flex comes in 60 grams (relatively lightweight for a driver) and can be purchased online for less than $50. Give it a try, cant hurt.
