  1. Greetings, I'm basically new to golf as of last Fall. I've been taking lots of lessons, and practicing/playing as much as I can squeeze in during the week. (Someone should have warned me this would get addictive). Anyway, like usual, I'm fighting the driver slice. Of course this means I'm either doing the outside-in path, or having the clubface open at impact. So the point of my post is the following: I was experimenting with closing the clubface at address, to try and come through impact with a more closed face. What I noticed is the slice seemed to actually get worse the more I would close the face. So on a whim, I stared to open the face a touch at address, and much to my surprise the slice seemed to go away. I was curious if this is a known thing, or if I just have something really strange going on with my swing, because usually the slice advice on the net is to close the club face a bit, as well as fixing the swing plane. Anyone know whats going on here? My only guess was that it's mental, and with a slightly open face at address, my brain really works to close it during the swing.
  2. Had been looking to add a spin milled lob wedge to my bag for a few months. Of course I looked at the Vokey, and the Cleveland cg12/14. Both nice clubs, but I've been more and more impressed with the value Tour Edge offers, so I picked up their spin milled wedge for about exactly half the price. No stores seem to stock the tour edge wedges, so I had to order it sight unseen. Anyway, it arrived yesterday and it looks beautiful, can't wait to try it out.. Here are a few pics.
  3. It looks like they are just playing catch-up to the Nikon 500G.
  4. No, for hunting, you don't want it to be locking on tree branches and things like that. Only the innocent deer you're going to shoot
  5. From what I've been told, the "golf" range finders are programmed to lock on to the closest object, such as the pin, where a hunting range finder, will lock on to ther farthest object. Because of this, I would buy one specifically made for golf if that will be your primary use of it. Also, I finally got to use my Nikon 500G a on the course several times this week. It works great, I can range the flag at well over 200 yards without a problem.
  6. I bought a Nikon 500G. Max range is only 500 yards, but then again, how often do you need to range something over 500 yards away on a golf course? Only mention the range because the Callaway LR1200 (make by Nikon, says Nikon right on it), goes out to 1200 yards, and the Bushnell reaches 1500. I don't have much experience using the 500G, as it just arrived from Amazon a few days ago, but at 1/2 the price of the Bushnell 1500, and half the size, I went with it. The Bushnell w/ slope would be a neat toy, but I think the extra money is better spent on some lessons, at least in my case.
