  1. Just as the title asks, I'm wondering how much developing a routine before actually swinging at the ball plays into a consistent game of golf. I would be inclined to think that it has a lot to do with it considering how mental this game can get (Kevin Na). But, I'm just a newbie to this game so I'm wondering what you all think about this. Do you take the same number of practice swings and look up at your target the same amount every time, or do you just get up there and give it a couple of waggles and then whack it?
  2. What I'm working on: After filming my swing yesterday, I noticed a slight motion at the top of my backswing that shouldn't be there. It's at the exact moment that I start shifting my weight forward, my shoulders tilt a little which moves my hands out away from my body ever so slightly which in turn moves the club head away from my shoulders at the top of my swing. If you translate that into my downswing, keeping on the arc, the club head comes down inside-out and turned out which should give rise to a push fade/slice. That's exactly where my shot is right now, way right and going more right. I'll be trying to work that out as well as keeping my hands in (left bicep against chest) and making solid contact with the ball. I'm really only 3 weeks into golf but I'd rather start out on the right foot than develop some terrible habit that will come back to bite me down the road.
  3. Hello all, I'm a new member (obviously) and actually a new golfer. I managed to pick up a near complete set of preowned callaway/taylormade clubs for a great price and now I'm looking to get into the game. I would like to think that I have a pretty decent natural swing, however, I have a big problem with a push/push-slice. That is my main reason for joining is to pick up some good tips/drills on working out the kinks in my swing and becoming a better golfer. I've only been at this for about 3 weeks now, but I'm not unrealistic about the time it will take for me to get better. However, I figured that it's better for me to start out on the right foot than to build a swing off of bad mechanics and develop bad habits that will be tough to get rid of on down the road. I'll definitely upload swing videos to the MySwing section in the near future.
