  1. Has anyone played at the Ritz in Tucson? It was the home of the match play this year. I am heading down to Tucson next week and have a tee time out there, any tips or thoughts on the course?
  2. Has any played Common Ground since it reopened, I have been meaning to get out there. Here are some of my favorites: The Golf Club at Bear Dance (the greens are like ice) CC at Castle Pines Riverdale Dunes Murphy Creek Green Valley Ranch
  3. I am going to be in the Orange County area this weekend and I have the chance to the play 1-2 of the following courses via a gift card I have. Anyone played any of these courses and have any suggestions? Eagle Glen Golf Club Oak Creek Golf Club Riverview Golf Club Strawberry Farms Golf Club Tijeras Creek Golf Club Westridge Golf Club Thanks!
  4. Thanks, that is one of the courses I was looking at.
  5. I am going to be in Yorba Linda (near Anaheim) for a conference in mid-March and I was wondering if anyone had some course reccomendations. I don't mind paying a little more to play, but nothing ridiculous. Thanks!
  6. Welcome to the area. The Denver city courses will all be near Wash Park, and aren't bad. I am also new to the area and I have found that the City of Aurora course are all pretty nice, especially Murhpy Creek (it is probably 25-30 from you). Fossil Trace is also a nice track, pretty uniqe, it is in Golden. In the broomfield area, Coal Creek is a pretty nice course and I have heard the Broadlands is nice as well althought i haven't played it. You should check out either Avid Golfer, or GolfColorado for some more courses. I have also reviewed a few courses in my blog if you want to check them out.
  7. You won't have to worry about that course getting too wet, it is built on a sand and gravel quarry so it drains really well. I am not totally sure on the caddie price, but the pro shop should be able to tell you. Enjoy!
  8. Enjoy Chambers, it is a great venue. If you don't mind spending some extra cash the caddies out there can be very helpful and possibly save you a stroke or two. Enjoy and bring your camera!
  9. I have been meaning to get out to the Ridge this summer. I have heard good things. Plus I have a free round through Golf Now that I can use there.
  10. I have been meaning to check out Green Valley Ranch and Riverdale. I have actually played Fossil Trace in the past and enjoyed it.
  11. I am heading down to Tucson next week and was wondering if anyone has any recommendations. My parents live on Arizona National so I will be playing there for sure. I have also played the following courses, would love to play somewhere new if you have any recommendations. Arizona National Ventana Canayon 49er Club Fred Enke Star Pass
  12. I just moved back to Denver and am looking for some great tracks to play. I posted about a month ago on this topic and got some great recommendations. I have played the following courses since I got back. I have been very impressed with the condition of the City of Aurora courses during this hot and dry summer: Bear Dance - Larkspur (Very Nice) Murphy Creek - Aurora West Woods - Arvada Meadow Hills - Aurora Kennedy Fitzsimmons - Aurora Any other reccomendations
  13. You should also check out Bear Dance in Larkspur if you have time. I just played it the other day and it is fantastic (Check out my review here saturdaygolfer.com/blog). It is $95 during the week, but worth the price.
  14. I have played of the courses in the greater Seattle area and here is how I would rate them 1. Chambers Bay 2. Gold Mountain - Olympic Course 3. Washington National 4. The Home Course You can't go wrong with Chambers Bay, it is the best course I have ever played, plus how oftern do you get to play an Open course.
  15. Westwoods is a good course, my parents actually live on that course. I think we are going to be moving to the Stapleton area so I will have to check out some of those Denver city courses.
  16. I will defenitley have to check out Murphy Creek. We will probably be moving out near Fitzsimmons as my wife is doing a residency program there. I have played Fossil Trace and really enjoyed that course. Thanks for the tips. Once I have played a few I will have to add my favs to this thread.
  17. I am moving to Denver from the Seattle area and was wondering if you have any course suggestions. Also are there any good golf value cards/promos in Denver? I use golfnow.com a lot out here and in Arizona but it doesn't seem to be as strong in Denver. Thoughts?
  18. New Castle is a great course, I am still not sure it is worth the hefty price tag, as mentioned a lot of it is for the views. However, summer prime time you can play Chambers Bay for the same price as Newcastle and there is no comparison between those two courses, there is a reason Chambers is hosting the Open. If you want to play Newcastle on more of a budget consider the Oki Card if you don't already have one. The sister course China Creek is also nice. It lacks the spectacular views but has a nice layout (it is significantly shorter as well)
  19. I think I will make a store visit to have them take a look at the swing. I am interested in moving to a shaft that will allow me to get slightly better elevation off the tee than the stock stiff shaft. I have also toyed with moving to a x-stiff shaft at the same time.
  20. I have to say I really enjoy watching the US Open. I like to watch the pros be challenged and see them really have to use their short game like the Open makes them.
  21. I am thinking about getting my driver re-shafted. Does anyone have any tips on how to go about selecting the proper shaft? I currently play the stock Taylor Made stiff shaft, and will definitely need to put a stiff/x-stiff shaft in. Thanks in advance.
  22. Another great source for discount tee-times is golfnow.com. I use them here in the northwest. My parents live in Colorado and it appears there course selection in Colorado for Golf Now isn't quite as mature, but hopefully it will get there. As far as good courses I have a gift card to Bear Dance and I am really looking forward to playing it this summer. Fossil Trace in Golden is a great and unique course.
  23. We have had such a brutal March, hopefully we get some sun in April. If you are looking to for a dry winter course and are willing to shell out some coin, Chambers Bay is in fantastic condition. http://saturdaygolfer.com/blog/
  24. I recently played Chambers Bay for the first time and fell in love with the course. If you haven't been out to play this course you need to get out and visit it. Don't hesitate to play it in the winter as the course is built on a gravel pit so it drains wonderfully. Check out my review and pics
  25. I will be playing my first round with a caddie tomorrow and was wondering what an appropriate amount to tip him/her at the end of the round is? I have read online that you should start at half the caddie fee and then adjust based upon how good they were. Any thoughts?
