  1. I've been pretty lucky and in my quest to play the Top 100 courses in the US over the last year I've managed to play about 20 top notch courses. I have a website at www.itinerantgolf.com with details of my experiences if anyone is interested. My Top 5 in no particular order so far are: Cypress Point Club National Golf Links of America Sage Valley Golf Club Shinnecock Hills Golf Club Pebble Beach Golf Links I've got Merion, Winged Foot and Pine Valley among others coming up this summer so my Top 5 could certainly change. Steve
  2. Not much mention of Virginia here so I'll throw out a couple from Central VA. Private Kinloch Golf Club: Manakin-Sabot, VA The Foundry: Richmond, VA Country Club of Virginia (James River Course): Richmond, VA Public Spring Creek Golf Club: Gordonsville, VA The Cascades: Hot Springs, VA Independence Golf Club: Richmond, VA DJ Yoshi, whoever told you that members could not take guests at Pine Valley and Baltusrol was mistaken. My brother played Baltusrol 2 weeks ago on a Saturday at 11AM in a group with 1 member and 3 guests. I'll be playing there in a 1 and 3 group there this summer as well. I'll also be playing Pine Valley with 1 member and 7 guests. One of our PV foursomes won't even have a member in it. You should re-investigate and see if you can play these courses with the member you know.
  3. I find that when I am at the range I take aim for dead straight straight ahead of me. For me alignment for straight shots is easier than angled shots. So when I get out on the course if I am hitting a shot that feels 'angled' (especially off the tee) I make sure I take my time and really line up correctly in order to hit the best shot. Same goes for sidehill lies. the range is conducive for aiming straight and flat lies. Not so on the course.
