  1. Seems we all struggle with the same problems. I have never shot under 100 and I hope to break this next year. Fall started :( After each round (9 holes most of the time) I always have the feeling that I have played 5 to 10 strokes too much. Most of these are embarrassing puts and at least five toppers. The biggest difference for me between the driving range and the course is that at the driving range it doesn't matter if a ball has a slice or hook. You just pick up another one and start all over again. At the course it makes a big difference. So the tension in the body and the mind is completely different. Besides that, like almost all starting player, I'm focusing to much on distance in stead of on consistency. I do play wonderful shots (at least in my eyes) and varies these with the ones mentioned above. While this is a drawback, it gives my the feeling that the swing is there and that it is just a matter of time when all pieces fall together resulting in a much more consistent play. So, likes other have mentioned here: Hang in there and go step by step. And we may not forget that we can't all be scratch players.
  2. While I know that my swing is far from perfect and a lot of work is needed to get it to an acceptable point. I do want to show you all where I'm coming from. The video was shot in September 2011 after my first 2 or 3 lessons. My swing was so bad that even I don't have fingers enough to sum up all the faults Also I adjusted my grip according to the tips above. Not enough to see major improvements but on the other side it doesn't feel strange, so I think I will get quickly used to it. Cheers, Dremeber
  3. Thanks for the input. Will try the next time when I'm on the driving range. Today I will play for the first time 18 holes. So maybe not the best time to try it today. Will be though enough with the change in grip. Will let you know how it works out.
  4. I'm an information architect by a big consultancy firm. Currently stationed at one of the biggest pension funds of Europe. So, I know that it will be though to pay the green fees from my pension :)
  5. I've been Playing Golf for: 4 active months, spread over 2 years My current handicap index or average score is: EGA 54, havn't plaed 18 holes yet. Will do tomorrow. My typical ball flight is: not consistent The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Topping the ball, also to much slices Playing with a 7 iron. Video was taken, 2 months ago, when I did re-start playing golg after a stop of a year. There is much room for improvement. For the moment, I'm trying to start the hip movement just before the backswing starts. Videos:
  6. Hi all, Was browsing on the forum and due to the fact that there aren't many golf forums in Belgium, I decided to sign up. Started playing golf a year ago, with my father. We took 5 lessons and did quit due to various reasons. Restarted mid July. In contrast to America, you just can't buy some clubs and start playing on the championship courses. First you need to be a member of a golfclub, secondly to be allowed on the 18 holes course, you need to get a GVB. With is more or less the same as a driver's license but then for Golf. Since 3 weeks I'm in the possesion of such a GVB, which gives me the permission to play on the 18 holes course of the home golf club and some other courses. A GVB can be compared with a EGA HC of 54. The next step is getting a HC of 36, from which you are allowed to play almost on all 18 holes courses in Europe. The HC is dropped according to the stableford points. each SF point above the 54 HC, will decrease the HC with 1,5 point. Hoping to get some tips on this forums to achieve this. My biggest problem with golf is time. With a fulltime employment and 2 kids, the youngest only 8 months, time is not on my side. Cheers, Dremeber
