  2. I'm in the exact same situation as you are. Broke 90 with an 86 like 2 months ago and broke it just once more. Then it was back to low 90's. I play 9 holes 3 times a week and they are mostly practice rounds in the early morning then it's maybe a full round every 15 days on weekends. My long game has improved a bit but is at least consistent. My iron game is shaky and I get the same feeling that it's holding me back. I have free classes at my course, but the guy that teaches there is really old school (0 tech) and I sometimes get the feeling that he just tries to fix your swing short term instead of working out a plan for you to develop a long term consistent swing. I'll try to invest in an instructor that develops a custom plan for me to practice at the range instead of me making up my practice plan. Let's see how it goes. Keep us posted with your progress!
  3. Hi everyone, quick and simple question here. I'm an 18hcp and have always used the highly forgiving (and old) Nike Slingshot HL since I started playing. My father in law gave me a brand new complete set of Adams Speedline he won at a tournament as a present (entry level clubs). Since they were brand new I thought about selling them but have had no luck. Now that I got them sitting there for free, I'm wondering if I should switch from the Nikes to these clubs since they are newer (recent model). I know they are both low end clubs, but I still wonder if the adams would be slightly better than the nikes. Thanks in advance for your comments. 4. A friend of mine is selling his TW nike wedges in perfect condition and at a really good price. I want to buy them but he mentions that they have stiff flex shafts. I use regular flex on my irons. Does the flex really matter in wedges? Any comments by the more experienced players?
  5. I shot 49 on the back 9 of my new home course Mayan Golf Guatemala. Rained yesterday but the course soaked it well and the morning was beautiful. Still getting used to the course and made some rookie mistakes, plus I didn't swing as good from the rough. Happy to have a new home course though with the view of the volcano.
  6. Join a club near my job and play 3-4 times a week. This will help my game a lot (I hope).
  7. After several years of golfing about once a month (although day dreaming constantly about playing all the time) I'm about to join a club that's close to where I work. I had withheld myself of joining a club first because of the $ but mainly because I would only be able to play it on weekends and playing only 4 times a month (at best) for the fee didn't cut it for me. But a year ago I changed jobs and now work about 20 mins from a nice course that's not to expensive and probably will play 9 holes about 2-3 times on weekdays before coming to work. I will mostly be playing my weekday rounds by myself since it's kind of early for most of the people, but I've played a couple of times by myself and really enjoyed it. So, I guess it's ok to get that alone time doing the thing you like the most.
  8. Shot a 95 on a par 71 at my home course in Guatemala... tough course.. not too long but a lot of out of bounds and hazards. I was a 36 hcp 6 months ago and have been playing more lately and paying more attention to course management and have managed to be shooting 25+ to 31+. So this is a good score for me. Have trouble with the driver so I used the 3 hybrid at almost all the tees. Can't figure out if I need to change the shaft in my Driver from R to Stiff since I think its too light. Unfortunately here in Guatemala equipment y very limited so I haven't found a launch monitor to see my speed and there's no one to custom fit my clubs for better playing. Missed 2 birdie chances on 5 & 6, almost whined like a baby since I've never made a birdie and I left the ball an inch off the hole in both of them (but still grateful that I had birdie chances at all). But the they will come someday and I shall celebrate. Will compete on an amateur tournament this weekend with a 31 hcp.. hope it goes well.
