See, this is what he gets for playing that lightweight, cupcake schedule.

Wow. By that logic, Michael Jordan should've been allowed to play in the WNBA, or Roger Federer on the Women's Tour. It doesn't hold water because the given is that the PGA tour is superior to the LPGA. No one is disputing that. Better, stronger athletes that hit it farther. Because some PGA events allow amateurs to compete, does that mean that PGA players should be allowed to compete in amateur events?

The thing is, these sponsor exemptions she's getting usually go to some guy who doesn't stand a chance of making the cut either (like Arnold Palmer's 18-year old grandson, Sam Saunders, at Bay Hill this year). Exemptions are usually given out as favors, or exposure, or to some old coot that won the tournament years ago. Wie has as much a chance this week as Saunders had at Bay Hill to make a cut.

Not arguing against that point. Just an answer to the "She needs to play more on the LPGA before competing against the men" argument. And like Sergio, I say "Never say never." Some of the men's tournaments she plays don't necessarily have the strongest fields. I don't see her making a cut anytime soon, but I think she'll make one eventually. Either way, she's honing her skills.

Picked up a used Scotty Newport II...

Didn't get this one authenticated. Here are links: http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...a/PICT0057.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...a/PICT0056.jpg http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i2...a/PICT0054.jpg -
And again... she's played all she's allowed on the LPGA tour this year.

Came home to a yellow box on the front porch. My Studio Design 1 actually beat my Newport II home! Didn't get this one authenticated, because I'll probably bust this one out as my gamer (In case you care, "jojo" is my childhood nickname, and my family still calls me that) -

Noted. Photobucket from now on -
Then you should take your artwork and make the analogy -- Tiger's a master artist creating masterpieces before our eyes. Would've loved to watch Klimt or Dali create beauty on canvas. Same thing with Woods, except it's fairways and greens. And a lot fewer strokes ;)

You know, I'm thinking it will be my gamer. Maybe. I've got a beat up Studio Stainless that's in the bag right now. And your mil-spec is REAL nice. Don't ya love it??? -

This is the one from the first post in this thread... And yeah, it was a complete restoration. Paintfill represents my alma mater (Cal). Though it's not really an alma mater if you don't graduate, is it. -

He didn't call you an idiot. No one here is calling you an idiot. Settle down.

Whoomp, here it is. -
As an aside... Tiger would break 60 every single time, given those conditions.

Doesn't look like a typo... just wasn't very concise. I think he meant, "Here's what you do when you swing too hard -- you tighten everything up and rob yourself of speed." He then says, "Slow it down, ease up on the tension, and it's all good." In a nutshell.

In other threads, people are starting to flame Tiger and the PGA tour for being boring. I assert that it's the exact opposite -- exciting, well-played golf by the single-most dominant player in recent history. It not his fault that the field can't seem to raise its game to challenge him. It's not his fault that he plays a level of golf that most can't even comprehend. I never thought it was boring when the Bulls were winning championships with Jordan. I never thought that Montana leading the 49ers was boring. Was it boring when Byron Nelson won 11 in a row? Was Jack winning 18 majors boring? When exactly does mastery of one's skillset become tedious to watch? There can only be Yes and No in this argument, I believe. Let the fray begin.
-
But the thing is... Jim Rome really is an idiot. But that's beside the point. Looks like we're heading towards another off-topic Tiger-flaming thread. Personally, I don't find it boring. I'm not saying that those that do find it boring are wrong, but it's not exactly a valid argument. I'm going to start another thread to see where people stand on this.

Quite honestly, I don't see Vijay pulling away from Tiger today. He had to shoot a ridiculous number yesterday (sixty-freakin'-one????) to get into this spot, but it's not like he was lighting up the course the first two rounds. I say he comes back down to earth, maybe shooting a 70 or 71. Tiger probably shoots a 67 or 68. It'll be real close.

The last sentence of that paragraph has since been removed by Wikipedia...

Thanks to this guy, I stopped killing snakes at first site, and gained an appreciation for all wildlife. Every time I'd see a little garden snake or something on the course, I'd pick it up and do a terrible Croc Hunter impression for my buddies. I'm surprised at how bummed out I am over this loss.

What are some great, inexpensive golf vacations?
ragontona replied to Finn07's topic in Golf Courses and Architecture
One hundred percent agreement with the Myrtle Beach idea. It really is Mecca for the bargain-seeking golfer. Just make sure you do some research and hit courses that are well-reviewed. With over 100 courses at your disposal, you're bound to run into some dog tracks. Time of year is also key -- you'll find that early spring in Myrtle Beach can be a very expensive proposition. However, the period immediately after Labor Day offers some really nice bargains. Another nice destination is the Pinehurst area of North Carolina. Naturally, the Pinehurst Resort itself is an expensive trip, but there are other really nice courses in the immediate area that offer the feel of North Carolina golf without the premium prices. -
Especially these days, modern drivers (like your 454) require a parallel (or even slightly ascending) blow to the ball, for the sheer fact that the sweet spot is higher up on the face now more than ever. As drivers are at 45 or 46 inches, with 400+ cc heads that require longer tees, I've moved away from the "swing every club the same" school of thought when it comes to the driver. I think of it more and more like a specialized stroke, much in the same way that a putting stroke is different than other clubs in your bag. For me, I set up completely different for the driver -- I put the ball pretty far up in my stance (near my big toe), I ensure that my right shoulder is lower than my left (more than usual), and I definitely think "upswing" through impact. Every other club in my bag (even fairway woods), I hit with a descending blow. You descend with your driver, you may get steep, and that's how skymarks happen.

I've got two (an SD1 and a PP Newport 2) at the Studio right now as well. I used to think the last hour of work was the slowest, longest increment of time. Nope. It's the 40 day turnaround at the Scotty Shop. Feels like my babies have been there for years.
