  1. I say leave the old man alone. It doesn't sound like you have the kind of relationship with him that allows you to call him out jokingly. He knows he cheats and I'm sure he sleeps fine at night. Having his son berate him about it won't change that. Sometimes respect is more important than rules. Some of you will say he is disrespecting the game and his competitors, which is true, and others will call him on it or probably already have. There was a time your father let you win, or even cheat to win. Let him do that now and enjoy your time with him.
  2. Everything you say there seems backwards to me. To hit a draw you leave the face open, or right of the target. To hit a fade you close the face left of the target. Closing the face adds more loft and opening delofts. My opinion on the OPs question is fades should go farther due to more roll out. My fades go farther in real life.
  3. So I have one of those moments last week. I was playing with a friend from work who I have never played with before. My general partners and I have a similar swing, out to in or straight with the resulting slice. this guy had a massively layed off club and his bad shots would hook. Epiphany! If I lay the club off my slice will go away. After 3 trips to the range I have a really nice straight shot and can actually shape it left to right and right to left when I want. This is all really new to me so I'm still getting use to it and happy to finally have some options. But my question is where did my distance go? I could hit driver to about 250 in the air with a 20 yard slice to the right. Now I'm getting 220-230 with a straight flight. My swing still feels "odd" and I don't feel comfortable "swinging harder". When I get more used to swinging around my body instead of up and down will the distance and speed come back or did I just fix one thing to only break another? Honestly I will take a straight shot that is shorter and never look back if I have to. Also, my iron play is now a bit off. My long irons are better but 8, 9, P and G are digging holes and making contact before the ball. I think I can fix the irons but the distance thing doesn't make sense to me.
  4. My normal driver flight starts left of target and fade to the right, or starts straight and fades to the right of the target. I almost never hit a draw with my driver, intentional or otherwise. I do hit a draw with my 5 wood and 3 hybrid when I want to, starts out right, comes back to target.
  5. I'm looking at a new driver for 2013. My friend suggests I get a draw biased club because he has been more consistent with his. I have always stuck with neutral stuff. My question is. A draw biased club has the face slightly closed. But to hit a draw you leave the face slightly open and swing in to out. Wouldn't a draw biased club make me hit more of a "straight" shot with a wicked draw at the end instead of starting out to the right and coming back to my target as i intend? I also have a tough time swinging in to out, most of my swings are "straight" or out to in. wouldn't a draw club make me hit dead left shots a lot?
