  1. Wow... looks like this thread touched a nerve with some folks. Based on the locations of some of the posters it may be that certain colder regions of the country have moved to a 'jeans acceptable' policy. Maybe its a NW thing... to each his own. Thats not the case here in VA. Its a pain to change before a round but the rules help keep a standard in place. Besides, it gets too damn hot here to wear jeans. That being said, put me down as one of the preppy fratboys. I like to look good on the course and in the bar afterward. Now if only my game were that easy to put together.
  2. I have been using Winn grips for a couple seasons and have not noticed the wear issues that some people complain about. (this may have been an issue previously?) Currently, I have the PCI (half cord) grips and like them a thousand times better than the old Golf Pride cord I used to use. The appeal for me is that they seem softer and tackier which helps me ease off my grip pressure.
  3. Ultimately, you are the best judge. The A2s could be the best fit for you. If you like them it's hard to question and I don't think there is a wrong choice to be made. Like the previous poster said, Adams is a good company. The 5-6 are ibrids? I have not used them too often but have been able to hit them better than my previous clubs. They are odd looking in the bag but standing over the ball you don't notice. I was using an old set of Lynx Black cats from the early nineties (anyone remember the insert?) After coming back I have struggled with hitting clean shots (I hit the ground first the majority of the time.) For me the wider sole has helped. Now I just need to put in the time on the range and the course.
  4. I just went through the same search and ended up purchasing the A2 OS set of irons. I started out seriously considering the new A3 set but found them to be a little less forgiving. I started playing again last year after a 10 yr layoff and needed to upgrade my old set. Its been two rounds with the new clubs and already I am a big fan. Based on your description, I would suggest looking at the A2 OS. You will get room to grow but won't need to devote as much practice time in order to get good results. My plan is to hold on to these for a couple seasons until my swing becomes more consistent. The wider sole and hybrid technology in the long irons has helped build confidence.
