  1. I should find out soon enough if I have made a horrible mistake. I have been playing with the same set of Ping Karsten II's that I have had since I was 12 years old. A lot of good rounds with those clubs, and my fair share of round best forgotten. At the encouragement of the wife, I am going to start getting back into the game, start competing on the amateur level, etc...and she insisted that I get new equipment. Man, how lucky am I? Over the years, I managed to learn to shape shots pretty effectively with those old irons, but am hoping to get a bit more distance and workability, without feeling that I need to absolutely pure every shot every time to stand a chance. Picked the TM r7TP's. Seemed like a good balance, and just felt good. Haven't had a chance to play a round yet, but I suppose we'll just have to see. Since I've only played 2 sets of clubs (the Karstens, and a set of Jr. Chi Chi Rodriguez clubs from my childhood), I am kind of excited at my first upgrade in, well, pretty much ever!
  2. Was at the Shell on Sunday, and followed Olazabel from 15 on in. Took us until 16th green to figure out what the heck was wrong with his face! At first it looked like his face was peeling off or something. The advertising is a huge part, I am sure. I always wear a hat, but instead of getting paid to wear it, I had to pay for the honor of giving Titleist some advertising. Still, as stupid as it sounds, I never play without a Titleist lid on my noggin. As soon as the post round interviews start sounding like NASCAR, then look out. I can just hear it now, while sipping on a sponsor beverage of choice- "Well, the Titleist/Taylor Made/Scotty team put together a real good set today, and those irons ran real good in the heat today...", and so on....
  3. Never let one fly from my hands...have slammed a few into the turf, etc. Dumbest had to be high school state championships. Chili-dipped a short approach shot after a perfect drive, and decided to give my bag a tomahawk chop (before anyone thought of having stands for bags). Didn't think much of it, or realize how stupid this was, until I got to the next hole, a par three, and pulled out the requisite club, and noticed that I had managed to put a nice crease in the shaft of my 7 iron. Pulled all my clubs out and saw that my 8 and 4 were also damaged. Mind you, this was the 4th or 5th hole. Have managed to keep my temper in check since then! Much cheaper. I did get some good practice on hitting punch 6's that weekend.
