  2. I used to play a Cleveland Hi Bore XL with a 55g Regular flex shaft. I won a few company tournaments with it and never lost a longest drive contest. Even though this was the case, it never, ever felt good in my hands and I never was able to hit it consistently. I recently went to Golf Galaxy and tried 4 different Taylormade drivers. I ended up falling in love with the R11s. The pro noticed that my club head speed with the driver was averaging 105mph and my ball speed combined was perfect for a stiff shaft. Lucky for me they had an R11s with a Stiff flex TP (65g) shaft. I was extremely excited that I finally could generate the club head speed to move to a stiff shaft, but I quickly found out why the flex of a shaft matters haha. I played a few times with it and more often than not I notice that I am slicing the ball. The ball appears to go straight and long but then all of a sudden takes a sharp right turn and ends up with a slice. I'm not sure what could be causing this. I was at the US Open this weekend and Phil Mickelson's trainer gave me a few pointers on how to fix my swing. Though it helped, I'm still a bit more inconsistent than I want to. On the other hand, I play the Rocketbladez Tour irons with a regular flex and I'm able to hit them so well. I have been able to shape my shots when I want to with my irons. I just don't understand why I can't hit my driver now. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  3. This is the best topic. I've given so much advice to my friends about picking the correct golf ball for them with no avail. My friends don't believe in golf balls and just play with whatever happens to be found in the nearby rough/woods. I'm a big fan of the tour balls because I can generate a ton of spin around the greens and the feel I get from them off my irons is amazing. However, they cost upwards of $30 a box/dozen. Last year, I had a very drastic dip in performance and decided to get back to basics. I went out (after I had lost all my expensive golf balls) and bought a $20 box of Taylormade Rocketballz. Last year's model had green numbers on them with the "Rocketballz" writing on them. I can't tell you how much I love this ball. It feels great off the driver, has little spin off of it, and gets absolutely launched. I used to be a DT Solo/NXT Tour ball player, but I've definitely switched to the Taylormade balls. Taylormade has done such a good job with R&D; in developing their technology for golf balls, its pretty impressive. I would highly recommend the Rocketballz ball. At $20 a box, its hard to pass up since it is a great ball for beginners and experienced golfers. On the other hand, if you're an experienced golfer looking for a little more performance out of your golf ball, I would also recommend the Taylormade Penta TP3. Its a great 3 piece ball that generates little to no spin off the driver, large spin off the mid to long irons, and even greater spin off the short irons/wedges. It feels soft off the impact which feels great. This is last year's ball as well and most places (DIck's, Golf Galaxy, Golfsmith) are selling it for $20 a box as well. I currently use the Taylormade Lethal 5piece ball, but if I'm ever in need to go back to fundamentals and use a round to just get my swing mechanics back, I will always revert back to a Rocketballz or Penta TP3 ball.
  4. Driver: Cleveland Hi-Bore XL 9.5 Loft Fairway/Hybrids: Taylormade Burner Superfast 2.0 3-rescue - 15deg loft Irons: Taylormade Rocketbladez Tour, 1deg Up, 1/2" short, regular flex steel Wedges: Cleveland 588 56deg and 60deg, wedge flex Putter(s): PING G5i Ug-Le, PING iN Wack-e I've recently switched over to taylormade from Nike. I absolutely am in love with the new Taylormade clubs, though I almost wish I got them in a stiff flex steel shaft instead of the regular flex. They feel absolutely amazing through all stages of my swing and I hit them a country mile. Highly recommended.
