  1. Sorry I must of misread the stats on it. I was sure I read somewhere that 5% of golfers use it which I thought myself was too high.
  2. The thing is but today when I was hitting the ball using the "correct" grip I was hitting my irons 20 yards further and the shots all had a much better shape and trajectory to them. The only problem was consistency. I don't know if its worth my trying to work at it or just stay with my tried and trusted grip and risk not improving or do I switch it and chance maybe not being at the same level for a few months. The driver I was hitting roughly the same as what I was cack-handed as well and maybe a touch higher. So the question is: If it was you do you stick with trying the conventional grip or do you just forget about it and concentrate on being cross handed?
  3. It may look strange but its alot more common than you think About 5% off all golfers use it. I think the main pro at the moment is called John Callagher and he plays on the amateur tour right now. It does look weird but the people how use the grip, it feels natural to them.
  4. Yeah well remember haha I have moved to a new town and its a whole different golf course I play now. This new course is alot longer and with my driver and woods my distance is fine but its with my irons that I struggle to get the proper distances. The course I play is also links so its naturally alot firmer so the more loft in my hands the better for the approach shots. Plus I just feel that with the club play in seasons now finished I feel like this would be the ideal time to try and work on changing grips. I found out the reason for lost of distance was because I was flaring the club face way open on the way back. When I attempt the use the more conventional grip the club face stays squaring for me so I am naturally going to be gaining distance just by changing.
  5. Hey I have being playing golf now for as long as I can remember and I have always used the cack handed ( left hand below right) grip. I play off of 4 right now and I am finding it really hard to get down to scratch which is ultimately where I want to be. I have looked around the internet and found that being cack handed loses you distance and at the course I play at there are 3 par 3s all over 220 yards. So my question is should I change to try and get my handicap down to scratch or do I just stick with cack handed? I have being trying out the more convention grip and honestly I feels super weird but I have notice the my irons go further and have a nice draw shape to them. And also if anyone else has ever played cack handed and switched to a more standard "proper" grip please let me know how you got on :D
  6. Ok. The reason I want to fix this because I reckon I'am losing 2 clubs or so worth if distance because of the face the face is open during contact. Everyone else I play with, their divots point straight down the target line, or near enough, and they hit a lot further than me. This divot pointing left issue has only starting happening in the last 6 months or so and the distance I have lost is huge because of it I reckon. When I do get the ball traveling in the same direction as the divot points, usually when I hook it, the ball travels 30-40 yards further than normal.
  7. Hey guys and gals How is everyone today? Just a quick question about your divots. What direction does your divot point after your shot? Mine point way to left. If I am aiming and the target line the divot would point maybe to a 30-45 degree to that line. The ball travels straight but which means the club face must be way open through impact. Any tips or drills to work on straightening out the divot and keeping the clubface more neutral through impact? Look forward to your response :D
  8. Let us know the results
  9. Go to a local driving range and hit some shots with them. It probably is just a matter of new clubs needing to be broken in, so to speak. Plus needing to adapt from old iron tech that was in the firesole may feel different than the newer tech in the burners. Moral is try and hit shots with them and get used to them.
  10. It could be the weighting of the new clubs. The older clubs might have a little more weight in the toe of the club promoting it to turn over and hiding the slicing. Do you slice your driver or any other clubs?
  11. Wrist for me. When Phil Mickleson says the hinge and hold method is the best method then you listen to him.
  12. The bit in bold there is a problem when I watch the video of my swing my shoulder drops. I really do think it is something to do with my arc but I hit the ball 1st the majority of the time but I dont start swinging up for another 6" roughly.
  13. Right ill try and get into this in a little more detail The balls I mostly use are srixon ad-333. I dont use any that appear to be damaged and scuffed too much so the ball is not the issue. Next point is my divot. It points way too the left of the target maybe at a 45 deg angle to the line. I think I may be hitting the ball before i reach the bottom of my arc. Another point is I hold the club kak handed. Meaning my right hand goes on top of my left. I have played like this my whole life so I dont see that being too much of an issue. I appear to hit the ball solid. Sometimes it looks like it going alot further than what it actually is. I know I still have the power because I can sometimes get back to my previous yardages but very very rarely. I really want to get this fixed, its so frustating.
  14. Hey I might be wrong here but it could be your take away. It looks like your wrists press forward forcing the club to go way out and when you come back down its causing a hook. Try getting a much more 1 piece takeaway. Once again I may be wrong but thats all that really jumps out when I watched the video. Good luck
  15. Hey guys, here is my problem. I have lost alot of distance on all my clubs. I mean alot:- Club Old yardage New Yardage Driver 270 220 3 wood 240 200 Hybrid 215 180 4 iron 210 165 5 iron 195 155 6 iron 180 150 7 iron 170 130 8 iron 160 120 9 iron 150 100 PW 140 80 As you can see that is pretty dramatic. I personally dont feel like my swing has changed at all during the off season. My ball flight is now alot higher aswell but does mostly go straight, not the dreaded high slice. I have tried to do several things in order to try and fix the problem such as, moving the ball back in my stance to try and deloft the club but didnt really do much also tried turning my wrists over during impact which I did see a gain in distance but it was really uncomfortable. Is there any one else out there who has had the problem and managed to fix it or does anyone else currently have it? Any in put would be much appreciated
