  1. Hmmm. Lorena plays, Annika doesn't and despite a few oh-my-God-there-she-goes-again moments ... Paula wins! So what happens next week? Is Wie playing?
  2. Maybe they should yell it on one-foot putts.
  3. I saw the transcripts of the post-tourney interviews on lpga.com. Paula said the wind would have made it impossible to stop the ball from that distance. At 15 yards closer she would have tried it. Annika was also asked if she considered going for the green. She said only if she were two shots behind and even then she'd have to hit a great drive. She also mentioned the wind.
  4. Riiight. Go for broke when you're tied for the lead. Brilliant strategy. Just fire a long club at a target as big as my bathmat. Especially when your opponent has been balky on the greens the last few holes. (That was sarcasm, in case you couldn't tell.) Seriously, to shoot at the island in that situation would have been a confession of weakness: that Paula doesn't think she can beat Annika without pulling off lucky shots. I never heard of any golfer winning consistently by 20 shots against any sort of competent opposition. Whatever. And, no, I strongly expect others to win when Ochoa doesn't play. And even when she does, sometimes.
  5. There's this thing called the Internet. Oh,wait, this *is* the Internet! Some folks even read newspapers. The former are female and the latter are male. Apart from that they're the same: all play pro golf and come from various countries in Asia. Why does that make them unknown? If there are fewer of them (is that what you mean by "less competition"), it's easier to know who they are, right?
  6. Yeah, Ochoa's won some blowouts very recently, but that's not a long-term LPGA trend. And Tseng was certainly well-known to me. Huge amateur career (won a North-South final vs Pressel and a Publinx from Wie, both were defending champs at the time) and she's won as a pro on the Asian tour already.
