  1. I'm lacking distance on my irons because i don't hit down on the ball. When I play I'll put a tee in the ground next to the ball and I find the divot starts behind or is even with the ball. I hit the ball straight, but I am always short of the target and constantly chipping on. how can I practice getting the ball first so the divot is out front. If I consciously try to hit down when I'm playing, I tend to chunk the shots. I went to have the clubs checked at a pro shop and was hitting off the mat. I would get 150-155 out of the 7 iron. At the course off grass get maybe 145. I know the grass and the mat are 2 different animals when it comes to distance.
  2. I'm not sure how putter dynamics affect you stroke. I tend to miss putts to the right when i miss. is that a toe or heel issue? do you add more weight or is it my stroke? i use an odyssey white hot #1 design. maybe a putter lesson is in order. I found it strange most misses are to the right regardless of green contour. i would assume the putter face is staying open.
  3. I saw a pro using a prov 1X+, whats with that ball? just a pro model or a prototype?
  4. The ones i saw had nothing. The slots were empty.
  5. what happens with those new irons when the slots fill up with dirt? they slots on the front and the bottom. they need to slow down on pumping out new designs.
  6. How can I adjust the driver lie if the head isn't adjustable. I find if i get closer to the ball the drives go nice and straight but I lose distance. I think if I stand back a little I can get the distance, but then I slice the ball. When i'm right on the ball it's harder to get that full swing going. i notice guys standing so far away that the sole o fthe driver isn't on the ground and i know thats not correct. I know because they can't a driver doing that. I would think the hosel has to bend to be able to stand back and still have the sole on the ground.
  7. I just gave up the steel shaft driver a few years ago. Still using my steel shaft nike 3 wood. irons were updated 2 years ago. doesn't really make any difference, balls still go right when they want to.
  8. does shaft puring make any difference on adjustable head drivers??
  9. that looks like a serial number right near the hosel in the first photo. check with titleist.

    distance??

I went over to a golf shop to look at my swing. When I was done the guy said why are you here? I was hitting the ball great, but on the course i lose distance. I had the 7 iron going 150-155. On the course i can only get 145 or less. I'm always chipping on. What's with that? Is the mat helping with distance. I know the mat helps ball flight, but i din't think it helped with distance. I'll have to do lessons right at the course from now on.
  11. is there a special air adapter to use? what I have doesn't work at all on putters.mine doesn't seem to get any air under the grip.
  12. air didn't work at all. these are on good. they are odyssey putters. i tried 3 of them. couldn't build any pressure at all
  13. the grip is the big one. 3.0 i think. i'll try the mineral spirits and the coat hanger. I have a long grip remover, but it's too thick. the air doesn't seem to work with putters because it just escapes thru the putter head. you can't build up any pressure. i tried it. regular irons work good.
  14. can you get a super stroke grip off without cutting it?? regular grips are easy, but jumbo grips are hard. i can't even get my grip remover under it to squirt some mineral spirits. i wanted to save it.
  15. I figured out my wedge problem. At address I have my hands forward of the ball. during take away i move my hands even with the ball and start the take away. the take away should be one motion not two. I concentrated on keeping the hands forward during the take away and i was getting good distance. I hit 4 greens in a row for 2 birds and 2 pars.
  16. my iron shots are very high and i take no divot either.the only irons i tend to scoop are the PW or LW. they go high, but i get no distance.
  17. looking for a good, easy to hit hybrid in the 200 yard range.
  18. Its not strange. Its the score that counts, not what clubs you use to get there. I know a guy that carries all woods. There is maybe one wedge in his bag, thats it. He doesn't shoot great scores, but it works for him. Why play and get mad as hell if you can't hit certain clubs. Thats not fun. Some people might say you should learn how to hit the woods, not just discard them.
  19. I'll check the lag. I normally don't chunk the wedges. It's sky high or bladed. It would be nice if ranges had grass. Hard to practice on the course.
  20. i tend to scoop the ball, not trap it. i probably need to concentrate on trapping the ball. i almost never have a divot when i hit my irons.
  21. I PANIC ON HALF SWINGS ON THE COURSE. I CAN DO THEM ALL DAY LONG AT THE RANGE.TO ME, HALF SWING EQUALS SHANK. I'LL JUST PANIC. I TRIED OPENING MY STANCE A LITTLE, BUT THEN I PULL THE BALL.I CAN DO HALF SWINGS ALL DAY LONG, AS LONG AS THE SCORE DOESN'T COUNT. SO YOU'RE SAYING DO A HALF OF A NINE IRON? CAN I JUST CHOKE DOWN AND SWING AWAY?? I'M A 15, BUT ALL MY STROKES ARE 100 YARDS IN.
  22. how do i get distance from my PW?? it's 45* and the ball goes sky high. If i move it back, i blade the shot and the ball goes 125. from 100 in i'm a disaster. the ball goes high and straight, but i'm constantly chipping on. do i move my hands forward, sort of hood the club? 9 would be way too much. i can't do half swings because i shank the ball with wedges. it's all or nothing. thanks
