Does the 588 RTX Black Pearl Finish Wear Badly?
jimmyzl1 replied to NBCgolfer's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Yes, I clean my clubs and dry them thoroughly after each round. -
Time for a new driver, any recommendations?

Sorry, my mistake, but yes, get fitted for sure. Usually places will fit you for free, you can haggle with prices too. -

I have one, it wears VERY well. I have used this one for about 10 rounds. I will say this though, I find that the RTX face pattern gives you absolutely no more spin than any other wedge does. I prefer my wilson wedges to it honestly and the weighting on this makes it much more prone to skulling IMO. -

You can get the R1's for a good price. I am not much a believer in the bottom weight closing or opening the club, but the weights in the toe and heel work, and adjusting the loft is nice. Are you a lefty by any chance? I have a brand new R1 for a lefty that was given to me I would like to get rid of, namely because I am right handed. :-D -
I was out at the course a couple of weeks ago, I am 32, in decent enough shape, a 15 handicapper and my handicap is dropping steadily. I am not a power hitter by any stretch of the imagination. I drive about 230 although I do have those rare moments where I crush it 280+. My irons are not long either. I hit my 7 about 150 yards if I really whack it. My typical shot is a fade, sometimes I slice, sometimes I hook, but I am pretty reliable at hitting a fade. My equipment is a TM R1 driver, Callaway X-hot FW's, and Callaway Diablo Egde-R Irons. I found a TM R7 Draw Biased PW at the course. (Yes I turned it in). But anyway, I was about 40 yards out and I thought i would hit that club and see what it does, well, i hit it straight as a dang arrow, hit the pin. I thought maybe it was a fluke, so on the next hole I hit it again, and it went DEAD at the pin. I have never hit anything that deadly accurate before in my life. Are there any other sets out there like this? I can find them used all day, but new is almost $500 as I know they are a long discontinued product, I also thought, couldn't I put some weights about a 1/2 from my hosel to produce the same results? Like these? http://www.ebay.com/itm/Stick-On-Tire-Wheel-Balancing-Weights-50-oz-90-OZ-New-/330914110636?pt=Motors_Automotive_Tools&hash;=item4d0c049cac&vxp;=mtr I know that last one is odd, but I am a tinkerer.

So, I have decided in my search for the right golf ball for me, I would play just about all that there are out there on the market today. Here's some of the new ones in the sleeves so you can see all the different ones ive tried I had a bag full of some others I emptied out of the sleeves I tried the TM Rocketballz, TM Penta 5, Titliest NXT Tour S, Titleist Velocity, Titleirst DT Solo, Titleist PROV1X, 2013 Nike Mojo, Nike One Rzn, Nike 20XIX, Nike Vapor, Wilson Staff Tour, Wilson Staff Tour X, Callaway Diablo Tour Hot, Callaway Hex Black Tour, Callaway Chrome, Callaway Solaire, Srixon Q Star, Top Flite 2010 Gamer V2, Bridgestone E6. I am 32, about a 15 handicap and quickly getting that lower, strike the ball pretty well, driver speed is about 105mph, and I played all the balls throughout this past month in good temperatures, usually 85-95 degrees outside, 5-15mph wind speeds. They all have certain aspects that are good about them. But the clear winner as far as distance, driving feel, reduced side spin, good feel on the greens, good spin on the greens, and good feel off the irons and chipping is......... I only have about 150 premium balls now, but as soon as they are gone, I am buying up the V2's as much as I can, tried to get an ammo box of them yesterday but they were out.

I bought this about 2 weeks ago as I had reviewed all of them and thought this offered a lot for the money, minus the putting aspect. All I can say is that this really is a cool little device, it accurately measures your plane, backswing position, hip turn, wrist release, hand speed and swing tempo. It is extremely accurate on all of these. What it does NOT accurately measure is your your club head speed, and distance. This says I have a an 85mph head club speed on my driver and that I only drive it 200 yards. The reason I know this is false is today I was on the driving range and I was carrying my drives 250 yards plus whatever i got after the roll. There is no way the club head speed is at 85mph when I'm carrying 250. Additionally, you can compare your swing to that of a PGA pro, their downswing time is 0.41 seconds, my downswing is 0.29 seconds, their handspeed at impact is 12.4mph, mine is 18.5, so I have a faster downswing and handspeed, but am swinging it 10mph less than they are? I think not. All in all, for the price, it's a good product, they just need to fix the algorythym that determines club head speed and distance.

I have a Taylormade 200 steel 3 wood, I use it as my 3 wood/rescue club, very versatile in my bag. I hit around 210 yards from the ground. I would like to get a 3 and 5 wood set that is just as hittable as this club, but goes longer, any suggestions?

Driver and Woods and Head Covers?
jimmyzl1 replied to Gatsby1923's topic in Balls, Carts/Bags, Apparel, Gear, Etc.
I put covers on ALL my clubs. I don't want them banging against eachother causing needless nicks. -
Widen your stance, straighten your feet out, you're swinging from outside to in instead of inside to inside. Good hip rotation, but your weight transfer is bad. You look like you have a death grip on the club as well. Just relax, spread your feet out more, straighten them out, and try to tuck your right elbow in more to create some more lag in your swing.
-
Under rotating your hips on the backswing. Everything else about your swing looks incredible. Good lag, spine angle, good weight transfer, good hip rotation on your follow through. The under rotation going to the proper rotation on your hips is causing your problem. I have much worse hip rotation than you. I would kill for your swing.

Get some lessons. The power is coming from you taking a baseball style swing to it in relation to your footing. You arent aiming. You aren't setting up. You're lifting your left foot, and you are off balance. However, not every golf swing is picture perfect, look at Jim Furyk.
-
Just as I suspected, you aren't rotating that club face closed enough with your wrists.

I've been Playing Golf for: 2 Years My current handicap index or average score is: 15-20, I'm not real sure My typical ball flight is: Straight or Slight Fade The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Slice This is my regular swing, all three hits were on target. I am just wondering if anyone has any tips. The last tip I got of widening my stance worked really well. Also hitting the birdie balls in a field has really helped my swing a lot. Videos:

Thank I'll try those drills. Honestly I do feel myself come up when I downswing on my drives, but often if I don't I will dig in or top the ball. I was trying a new swing with those swings as well. usually my right elbow doesn't bend as much and I tend to sway back and carry all my weight to the right foot then transfer it all to the left as I swing through. I have found my old swing is better than this new one I am trying, and that I hit a lot more straight, I was just trying to get some extra distance but it doesn't seem to be there with this new swing. Tomorrow I will hit and post my usual swing.

I think you have a very nice swing, your head does move to the left a little in your back swing, and your weight seems a little off on the downswing, but I think your main problem is failing to rotate your wrists to bring the club back to square. You also look a little tense. Everything else about your swing is very nice IMO other than a few small things.
