  1. I have personally seen a driver face go from convex to concave. Not the entire face but a part of the face. My brother started hitting odd drives going left, right, and who knows where when he usually hits a sweet 10yard draw ~300yds. Finally looked at the face and it was smashed in. Sent it back to TaylorMade and they replaced it for free.
  2. The crazy thing is I always thought I had good lag because my drives average around 285. This year my drives have been pretty good with bad being a pull. My short game, < 50 yards is pretty good, but my irons are just terrible. Lots of fat shots, thin shots and shanks. I'm guessing that this is because my hands are so far behind the ball and I have a scooping motion. but hey, I'm obviously no expert!
  3. So I had a quick session on the range today and got a few frames put together. It looks like I am starting to initiate the downswing with my hips, but still not turning all the way through and holding on to my lag. It is a step in the right direction though.. http://www.sansink.com/golf/driver2.jpg Frame 3 in the first image VS Frame 5 in the New image. I'll get out again this weekend if the weather is nice and not blowing 40mph with sketchy looking clouds. Any good drills on turning my hips through and holding onto lag? I found one about taking my index and thumb off of the grip on my right hand, forming a gun.
  4. I just filmed my swing trying to figure out why I have lost all consistency and I might have an idea why. It seems I swing with all arms which results in fat shots, thin shots or shanks. I've been reworking my swing since last year and I have only done so by feel and results. I use to have a severe over the top swing which now is generally straight or slight pull. What are some tips to fix this zero lag problem, and do you think this is the cause of my problems? Here's the sequence which almost looks identical to my take away but it's not. :( http://www.sansink.com/golf/driversequence.jpg
  5. I had the same problem at the beginning of last year. Occasional straight shot, mostly slices with a good amount of distance. This is how I fixed it. First off, watch a bunch of videos of pros hitting shots. This will put the idea in your head on what your swing should look like. These are the points I focused on. First off, I made sure my clubhead was outside on my backswing, meaning if you are looking down the line, the clubhead is outside my hands. Second, make sure I am keeping my left arm straight as well as making a full shoulder turn. Third, initiate your downswing with your hips, not your arms. Exaggerate this move because you can't really over do it. At the range I would take tees and make a path from inside to outside. Then I would practice hitting balls through this path. If I hit one of the tees, I knew I was coming over the top. With enough practice you will be duck-hooking shots no problem! Lastly, don't get mad. We're not pros. We don't have the right to get mad.
  6. People who organize these events need to understand that you can't have prizes for winning. Or if you do, keep them very small. Have a hole prize on every hole and a big raffle. Or play 2 random groups together to watch each other.
  7. In the first video it seems like the ball comes off the club directly left. It is hard to tell but you probably came over the top a hair. This might be because of your stance distance from the ball. You could be trying to reach out on your downswing because the ball is a little farther out then it should be. Try standing a little bit closer and see if this prevents your pulls.
  8. There is a slight improvement over your first video, but still needs a lot of work. 1. Your takeaway is very inside. If you look at the section of the video from behind you and try to pause the video just as your club is parallel to the ground, you can see your club head to the left of your hands by a good amount. You want this even with your hands or slightly behind. 2. When you start your down swing you need to start with your hips. This allows you to come inside with your arms and clear your hips allowing for a more inside to outside type of swing. 3. You are all arms. Get those wrists bending and this should help out with your upright swing position. A good thing to help improve an outside to inside type swing is to place tees before and after your ball on an outside to inside path. What I mean by this is place a tee 8 inches before your ball and on the outside of the ball by 2 inches. Place another tee after your ball and on the inside of the ball by 2 inches. Now start swinging between the tees until you can swing inside to outside without hitting one of those tees. Can you hit off of real grass instead of mats at the range? Looking at your divots is also a great way of finding out what your swing path is like.
