Ok wow. It is now obvious that my hip turn is a big problem of mine. I appreciate the replies and I have checked out the threads you all suggested. So I really want to start working on fixing this and my question is, are there any drills to practice to improve a centered hip turn? Anything that I can go and do out on the range that might naturally help fix this besides flaring the feet out and imagining my right hip pocket moves toward my tailbone? Again, thanks.

Thank your for your reply. My question is how do I really go about steeping my shoulder plane? if you told me to clench my fist I would know how to do that but when I try to steepen my shoulder I'm not really sure how to perform that. Do you have a drill at all that helps with that. I don't really have anyone to stand in front of me to put the hand by my chest like the video.

It sees as if i'm starting to develop more of an over the top action towards the end?

I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years 1 year consistently My current handicap index or average score is: mid 90's My typical ball flight is:Fade/Pull/Slice The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is:Fade/Slice/Pull Hello, this is a video montage of my swing. Its from old to most recent swing ending with most recent within about 2-3 months time period. My adjustment were steepening my swing plane because it looked flat to ME, I am no expert just used my judgment, and my setup as far as but end pointing at my belt buckle.

I've been Playing Golf for: 3 years on off My current handicap index or average score is: 100+ My typical ball flight is: Slice/topped ball The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Slice/top ball Fist shot I topped the ball. Second shot was great contact but had a slice on it Third shot started great but couldn't get over a tree so not sure of path Fourth shot was almost perfect ball flight And last is the first shot I took but in slow motion. These shot are all on different holes, not one hole. Videos:

I practice because I hate sucking on the course, which is all the time.

haha whenever i do a bad shot i notice its because i try to lift the ball up in the air

Coming from outside to in on downswing right? I was trying to aim the direction the ball flew but yea it looks my feet are aiming way right, like my right foot is far back and my shoulders more left. Could that be causing that out to in swing path?

This vid has a slow motion And for the record i do have trouble getting the club square at impact especially with longer clubs. its horrible with driver. Always slice to out of bounds or holes fairway

Opening club face at takeaway is helping my shot?
xsv345 replied to xsv345's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Here is my swing so you guys can see. I know my back swing is completely wrong and it looks like im aiming way right. That is a 7iron btw and the shot was about 10 yards short of the green. On target but a bad shot. http://tinypic.com/r/f0pu6h/5 -

so would you say that most of what im grabbing the grip with is my fingers or my hands. In other words is most of the pressure thas being squeezed against the grip in my fingers or hands? -

So I think I figured out how to make my takeaway smooth without opening the club face. Instead of trying to pull the club back, I now focus on trying to get my left arm/hand under the club in more of a pushing motion. That might sound weird but I think gravity was working against me in a way effecting the way the club was being brought back, ultimately altering the club face. -
Opening club face at takeaway is helping my shot?

Thank you very much. And i have been practicing my pitch and chip shots more than anything. I want to be able to hit my long clubs. -
So I recently picked golf back up and my swing was decent enough to at least constantly hook the ball and sometimes have a perfect draw. So one day I just decided to slow my swing down and perform a neutral grip instead of a strong one to help hit straighter. In result I started massively slicing the ball to the point where something went terribly wrong with my swing and would constantly shank the ball. I know exactly every time i'm going to shank the ball now just from my takeaway. It feels like the club wants to to twist in my hand, as if it wants to close at the takeaway. Almost as if the club head is to heavy if that makes sense. It always results in a shank. It happens mostly with my longer clubs (6iron,5,4,3,3wood) except driver but even driver is a terrible slice it feels like ball is coming back to smack me in the face. So anyways I started fanning the club face open at takeaway or rolling writs or whatever you call it. it looks terribly wrong but my takeaway feels incredibly smooth and the ball for the most part goes perfectly straight. It also usually creates more of a baseball style swing. So with all that said, I dont want to have to swing the club like that to hit the ball straight, it interferes with my short game and i never had to do this to hit the ball straight. As bad as it sounds i would rather go back to hooking the ball. If anyone can help me I would appreciate it. Iv probably watched every grip lesson on you tube. Im pretty much stuck to settling with swinging a sward at this moment.
