  1. Here's some detective work: 1: pull up the video and put a piece of paper over the logo, so that you can only see the top part of the ball but not the logo. Replay from that instance over and over and you can't tell when the ball supposedly drops. Illusion of movement caused by logo/twig/shakey camera vs oscillate? 2: for those of you who think Tiger saw the ball move and then stopped (aka cheated): he squeezes the twig the same moment the ball moves. when i'm moving debris, i watch my fingers until i secure the debris, then as i move i watch the ball. for me in this situation, any type of movement of the ball would be in my immediate peripheral vision. for a ball that supposedly moves 1/16 of an inch in my peripheral, away from my view, there's no way you can convince me it's "moved' without slo-mo zoom replay. Officially moved or not, you've got to be witch hunting to call Tiger a cheater. IMO.
  2. I'm glad he pointed out the part about what anyone would do if they saw a ball oscillate . .. stop touching stuff. Which is what i saw happen until it was zoomed in on. If all this happened to me, I'm saying it didn't move bc that's the concern; there is NO concern about an oscillation. However, if they then show me a video of a ball moving, I'm sure I would explain further that i believed it to oscillate. This is how I would play it, and it's how Tiger played it. So I see no problem whatsoever. My only other concern/confusion is: if a ball rotates in the exact same location, basically spinning . . is that oscillation? When i first saw the zoomed video i was looking at the top and didn't notice that ball moving down in comparison to the twigs in the background. But everyone is pointing out the relation of the logo to the twigs in the foreground. I'm sure it's very possible for a ball to simply rotate, but not actually move. However, when i look up the def of oscillate, it specifically mentioned something going back and forth. Spinning does not fit that def, but i'm not so sure it's considered to have moved either.
  3. D = 250 3W = 240 3H = 230 4H = 215 5I = 210 6I = 195 7I = 175 8I = 155 9I = 140 PW = 125 AW = 110 SW = 100 LW = 80 These are carry distances as best I can tell from the range.
  4. Been playing for just over a year. The past couple months I've found myself needing to move my hands more and more fwd at address to feel comfortable. 7i for example, the end of my grip will likely point to my pocket vs the inside of my thigh, where it used to be(ball is slightly in front of middle of stance). I even have them slightly in front of the ball with my driver (ball is inside my left heel). If I put my hands closer to neutral, I'm hitting major pull-hooks, and it may be I'm just not getting my hands back out front when I start closer to neutral. I'm pretty confident that hands in front is common/recommended, but that I'm a little extreme. And also to note, I'm happy with what I'm doing as I'm carrying my 7i 180yds. I just want to mentally understand as that helps me physically stay in form. I asked my club pro about it in passing. He had me get to address and then had me hold the club out straight in front of me, parallel to the ground, and to relax my arms/grip......all done with my hands NOW back in line with my zipper. My club face was way closed and he told me it needed to be square to my target and since I was closed, this is why I have the urge to move my hands more fwd since it basically opens the club face when I do this. My question is, and assuming the tip is legit, if I'm addressing the ball with my hands fwd ... should I really be doing this little test from a neutral position to check the club face (like he had me do) or should I raise my hands up from the fwd position that I'm using?? In case that's hard to imagine, do I raise my hands from my zipper up ... or do I raise my hand from my pocket up? I haven't asked him to clarify as I feel bad for asking to get a follow up on freebies. And there is no telling when I'll be on the range again and he's free. Thanks!
  5. i posted a similar question about this today. this is a very old post that doesnt have any closure, so i was hoping those that chimed in are still around. i'm currently trying to figure out the exact issue. one thing i noticed was his impact came into question a lot. i'm not sure if he had the same issue, but i can swing at nothing and have the same closed face result. So it's not the impact cuasing the turn for me. in fact, i know that my issue will happen prior to actually doing ANYTHING. it's happened to me enough to realize when it's going to happen, before it does (the moment i address the ball). so i know it HAS to be my grip. more specifically, i think i'm griping too tight. i just started golfing late last summer and played all winter long, even got my first eagle in 32 degree weather from 152 out. i think that as i begin to sweat more, i'm subconsciously gripping tighter as the thought crosses my mind from time to time that i'm going to lose my club in the backswing. however, i just stop my swing and start over and usually am fine. the real issue is when i know it's coming before it happens and at that point i'm done for the day. this just started during the hotter months. anyways, 2 nights ago i finally broke down and checked my grip pressure. i was really sweaty and it started happening, and was bad. i took my dripping glove off and wrapped a towel around both hands and the club. problem solved!! i actually hit both my 7i and LW 20 yards further than ever. .with total control and complete "feel" during the swing. unfortunately, it was at sunset and i havent had a chance to test beyond those 5 shots, so i'm stoked about my range session i'm hitting today.
  6. I'm in a similar situation, for a couple weeks now . . . I start out the day with my hands JUST in front of the ball, with a 7i for example, and ball placement about 1 ball length fwd from center. After a while (sometimes 5 shots, sometimes 16 holes), as I address the ball initially, I'll look down at the club face expecting a square setup, but I'm closed and it feels natural. I immediately know something is wrong, but have yet to figure out what. If I try to open the face, the odd feeling intensifies and totally screws up my entire shot, back to front, most commonly results in me smashing the club into the ground behind the ball. If I try and swing through it from the closed position, I either "goat hump" it and get a weak pull, or I actually hit it clean but get a nasty pull-hook. The only way I can get rid of the feeling is to move my hands towards the target until I'm square, not uncommon for my same 7i to have a setup with the butt of the shaft now pointing at my left pocket, 4-6 inches difference. This move allows me to manage my shot, but it also requires my backswing to be slightly different to which point I no longer have the same level of consistency, plus it just sucks. After several failed adjustment changes (grip setup, shoulder angle, etc), it dawned on me last night that it may be my grip pressure. Again, I get the odd feeling before I make ANY move whatsoever, and I don't think it's mental becuase it can happen when I'm in the (my) zone. I tend to sweat a lot and it's been really hot lately. I normally have good grip pressure, the whole bird in the hand bit, so I think that's why I've overlooked that up until now. While in my living room last night, I noticed that if I squeeze the grip with my left hand, it closes the face. And as I get sweatier, I can't imagine that I'm not making this mistake. Any thoughts? Guess I'm hoping someone out there has had the same issue and overcame it and has some advice to pass along. I hope to get out on the range today with some grip gel stuff I bought. Thanks.
