Yeah I really liked the 10.5 and went ahead and got it but after a while at the range I am going to go back and get the V2 HL because I had low ball flight.
-
Well it was free, but they just look at your swing and try different shafts and you can try different grips, etc. You have to pay for the equipment if you get a different shaft or grip than the club normally comes with.
-
Just Depends on your height. Its pretty much like getting fitted for a driver where you can choose from a few shafts and get it shorter or taller if you need it.
-
Well, I spent like an hour there getting fitted. Probably would have only taken like 10 if I was more consistant. Ended up with the Ping G10 10.5 Regular Shaft... might go back and get the high launch if I think I need it.
-
But but.... its spensive.... Just Kidding but I am looking for something a little more forgiving for now. I can always steal the FT-I I bought my dad if I need to

I'm going to have to say that the hybrid will be easier to hit from the rough. You can just look at the design of the two and decide what you are looking for. The Wood has a longer curve so you would probably have a higher MOI but the way the head is shaped on the hybrid it looks like it would be able to get it up and out in a hurry. I've always thought of hybrids as more of an iron replacement than a wood (that's just me of course) even though they are technically supposed to be a combination of both. In my game I have always had better luck with hybrids from the rough and I leave the Woods to the tee. Hope this helps at least a little.

So I am going to Golfsmith this afternoon to get a Ping G10 and have it fitted. Any comments or concerns with Golfsmith or the driver choice? I am going to try out a few others while I am there but I think I have finally made up my mind. Maybe.

I am still looking forward to GOW2 and Fable 2

Yeah I havn't even gotten to see anything other than the trailers for GTA4, I have to wait until my paychecks start flowing in next week to go pick up a copy.

So I saw this pretty sweet deal with the ESPN Golf School Today. $525 Gets you a full day of training with the pros. Normally this wouldn't be worth it to me, but you also get a $450 Callaway Gift certificate! That is conjunction with a new credit card I have that will give me $50 Back for my first transaction and you are getting all that schoolin for $25! I was just checking to see if anyone here had ever gone to this training group before. They have training for beginners all the way up to fine tuning the game. www.espngolfschool.com

Anyone play Xbox in here (Halo 3, Call of Duty 4 in particular)?

I have a Giant Yukon that I got last September and I love it. The shifters have a really fun style and It is holding up really well. Havn't gotten to ride much lately though :(

Nike Sumo Irons vs Callaway Big Bertha
UprisingPure replied to UprisingPure's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Well, I wasn't necessarily talking about clubs just for me and that 20 on my profile probably needs to be adjusted more to like 40 for average play :/ -
Nike Sumo Irons vs Callaway Big Bertha? Which ones provide the most forgiveness and distance? I was reading in Golf Digest and both sets had very promising reviews and I just wanted to see what everyone else thought of them.

Thanks for the post! I just bought my dad an FT-5 for $200 last week and it works great compared to his old Hippo Driver.

Beginner to the Game - Need Equipment Advice

I need to try and find a golf club around my area (Lewisiville) that will let me try different clubs and even suggest clubs based on my swing, etc. That would probably be the most beneficial as I could compare them head to head before I make my decisions. -

Well, the reason I am looking to upgrade is two fold, One, I feel like I have "done my time" with my old set for a year or so, and I will be golfing in the business world almost on a weekly basis in 3 weeks so I will need to have some respectable clubs in my bag. -

I could get the Standard 460cc Sumo Driver with the Nike OSS Slingshot Irons and the same Ignite Putter for $500 on ebay... That would probably be a better choice for me as a beginner and then just upgrade as I need to over the next few years -

I agree it is a lot to spend, thats why I was kinda looking at last years models as well (such as just a slingshot OSS irons set and just a regular Nike Sumo 460cc Driver) that would save me a bit of money. But on the other hand I didn't want to buy equipment that I would have to replace in a year. -

Oh yeah you should see my dad's face when I hit right into the green with a $15 hybrid I got from walmart and he loses 5 strokes to the water with his fancy callaways :) -

As far as holding me back, they are not in the least bit forgiving. If I am off center by even the slightest I have a ball that will either fall like a brick or just decide the ground is the best place to be -
I am very new to the game and have only played a few rounds of golf over the past year but I have really enjoyed playing what I have gotten to so far. I have an old hand me down set of Wilson's that my dad used for a few years and even in my inexperience I can tell they are holding me back. I was just looking for some general advice on what my new set should consist of from you guys that know considerably more than I do. I have been looking at the Nike Sumo2 system (5900 driver and hybrid irons set) but I noticed that not many of you are using Nike equipment. Thanks for your help in advance!
