  2. I've been Playing Golf for: 8 Months My current handicap index or average score is: 21.8 My typical ball flight is: Straight (Irons + Hybrids) Slight Slice (Driver The shot I hate or the "miss" I'm trying to reduce/eliminate is: Chunking Videos: Any Tips will be welcomed thanks
  3. So played a round with swing by swing app. Found it fantastic, Only problem i had was that i didnt charge my phone before going out on the course so battery ran out on the 16th. Came home and logged in on the site. Can see where my shots went and also gave me an accurate average with each club used. Gives you targets on how you can improve ie need certain amount of GIR and FIR to meet a target score you set and it will also work out your handicap with the rounds you have uploaded. Would recommend for sure.
  4. I either play alone or with my brother. Brother out of work at the moment so doesnt have the money to join the club. Anyone got any tips on how to get to know people at the club to play with. Im only 23, been playing 6-8 months and arent very confident with new people

  10. Cheers for the reply guys! As im pretty short on funds think for now it will be a gps app and some marking flags! I did know my distances but my new clubs have thrown me off completely! Most apps will be the same right?
  11. Just wondering if anyone has any suggestions on the best way for me to get the distance of my clubs. The local course where i am a member has a practice area but has no distance markers. I would go to the local range but they use balls that dont fly as far so that wont help me either. Having just bought some new irons im finding club selection is a bit of a pain. Does anyone have any suggestions or is it going to be a case of get on the course and hope i chose the same one until i get it right.
  12. Yeah i'm not a big hitter atall. I tried hitting it harder and ended up going shorter. I hit my 7 iron about 150 when i connect properly. Only have 5-pw and then 2 hybrids as cant hit woods
  13. Cheers! Always good getting advice from someone with the same name!
  14. Hey guys!! New member here, from Stockport in the UK! Just outside of Manchester! Also wont let me change my signature to put my name in it! Matthew Dougherty
  15. Thanks for the replies guys. Feel abit more settled about having the tour version now. I suppose seeing an instant improvement is something to encourage me.
  16. Thats ok then. I seem to be hitting it well 9/10 times then the other time it will either be a big divot behind the ball or me topping it. Im hitting it about 20 yard further with each iron.
  17. Hey Guys I consider myself as a relatively new golfer. I started about 6 months ago but have managed to play on average 2 times a week. I also have been having a few lessons from my father in law who is a scratch golfer and has been for years. I was playing with some hand me down MDgolf irons and was advised to invest in some more because my swing was better than the clubs were suggesting. Being 23 I dont have loads of spare cash lying around to spend on new clubs. I was advised to get some Cleveland CG16 irons as we found a good deal. I then found a better deal on some CG16 Tour irons with a free wedge so decided to go for them. Before having the irons I was hitting around 100 on my local par 69 course (im a 28 handicap still). Since getting the clubs iv played 3 rounds, 103, 98 and 93. What im wondering is would i have seen this improvement with the normal CG16s? Should i have maybe got them first to bridge the gap considering my hadicap? I thought by getting the tour version they may last me longer so that i didnt have to invest again so soon. Also just got myself a couple of hybrids so hopefully they will help me improve the score too!
  18. Hey iv been playing around 6 months and managed to get sub 100 2 times now. I found the time i did this was when i just thought about hitting 5 a hole. Luckily when going over on par 5s i usually made up for it on par 3s. Probably not the best philosophy to go by but it helped me bring my scores down and my confidence up. Also scoring stableford is a confidence boost
  19. My goals are to:- Break 90 5 times on the trot at home course (Current best is 98) Get more involved in the social side of golf Enter atleast one comp at home course Lower HI to 20
