I just came back on a long weekend vacation and at a golf shop I was looking at wedges. I need ato get a 49 or 50 wedge since my PW is a 45*. I dont want to spend 100 on a wedge and I also dont want to buy anything very old. I had seen a couple used pings in the $50 area but I really dont know much about them. I have heard cleveland wedges were good. How about the black pearl? Anyway I am a high handicapper so I want something that is easy to hit. I noticed on a couple discount websites there are some cheaper brands well below $50. Hogan, Simac, Adams etc. Anyway thanks for any info on a model to look for.

That is a good ideam. I will have to do some searching. Thanks -
Since my PW is 45* I am looking for a 50 or 52 Wedge. Would like to stay under $70. Any suggestions would even consider used. I also am a high handicapper so forgiving would be a plus. Thanks for suggestions.

I just started playing my new Nickent irons and they came with 5-PW acording to their website my pitching wedge is a 45*. I am not one that has to have 4 different wedges. I also dont want to spend a fortune on a wedge. Anyway what wedge should I get. Perhaps I do need 2 more wedges since if I need to go in 4* degree increments. Thanks for the advice.

Like most things you get what you pay for. I seen these at Dicks and they had a house type Aldalia shaft on sale for $59. Just curious how good or bad these are. These have been marked down.

That is also a good deal. You should love the hybrids also. I love my #2 ironwood. Let me know how they hit.

I recieved my 5-pw Nickent 3DX RC irons last week. All I can say they blow my old Callaways S2H2 w/graphite shafts away. With the Callaways I consistantly topped the ball. I think mostly because of the light weight. I gained a club on distance and was amazed on the height I could hit my shots. I decided for the true temper uniflex shaft and am so pleased with them. I cant believe I bought them NEW on e-bay for $145 plus shipping. My LGS sells them for $299.

ks8829 Thanks for the comment on the grip pressure. I have several things I think about before I swing. I think about my swing plane, I think about slowing my backswing, I think about keeping my head down and looseing my grip. I also think about not overswinging. I have noticed when I keep my grip looser I usually strike the ball much better. I believe that one tip if I can execute it it will make me a better golfer. Thanks One other comment on raising my head. I seen on a video were an instructor stated that many golfers thinks they raise their head to watch the ball he said that is not right he said they raise their head because they are doing something wrong which causes this to happen and I can see were a tight grip can cause more tension. Thanks again.

I have got a bad habit in raising my head when swinging. I am trying to slow my backswing and swing more smoothly. This has helped. Any suggestions in fixing this. One golf partner says he can is going to use the rope training aid to help cure me. You tie a rope around your neck and tie the other end to a body part. Need advice to a alternate solution. Thanks

My other 3 wood is 15* my go to club at long distance on the fairway is a Hybrid 17* ironwood. One other club I have is a Titleist 983K driver that has a R flex Titleist shaft. I dont hit it much at all.
-
I have 2 three woods and no drivers. I had bought a Nickent 12* 3 wood to use as my driver but I actually now have decided I probably should have bought a driver and learn to hit it. The shaft in my Nickent 3 wood is a Aldila Proto 85 stiff flex. I was thinking about taking it to a local club maker and get a good clone driver head installed. Thanks for any opinions.

Did he get the graphite shaft? I really like my hybrid 2 ironwood with the graphite shaft. I know on some of the nickent irons you can get a uniflex true temper st-90 shaft or the graphit shaft. Anyway I dont really know which shaft would be best for me. thanks

Just curious if anyone has hit or played these irons or even felt them. Thanks for any opinions.

I am currently playing older Callaway irons S2H2 with a reg flex graphite shaft. These clubs were made around 1990. I know by far most plays steel shaft irons. I was looking at getting a set of Nickent 3dx irons and notice on the bay that most of their stuff is graphite shaft and they have a lot of stiff flex available. Anyway I just dont know what shaft would be best for the irons. The biggest selection on these nickents are stiff shaft irons. Thanks for any guidance and suggestions, My main reason for Nickents is a have a couple hybrid nickents and I really like them a lot. For shat its worth my 2 ironwood is a reg flex and my #7 hypbrid is a stiff shaft. Thanks

Just curious I usually play Callaway HX Hot however at home I have enough land were I hit old balls over and over. Some are 15 years old and probably been hit 200 times. Just curious how much farther using a 3 wood would a new HX Hot would go compared to somthing like a topflight XL that is 15 years old and has been hit 200 times. I am sure it depends on the individual golfer but I am guessing with a 3 wood on the average 30 yards. Thanks for your guesstament.

Just curious how much shorter distance I can expect with my new Hybrid #7 wood and my #2 iron wood. The ironwood is 17* and the #7 hybrid is 21* and 1 inch shorter shaft. Thanks

Thanks for the reply. I am about 100% sure I will get Nickent irons. I just dont know anyone that plays them personally. Several of my friends plays their hybrids. I have the genex 2 ironwood and flat out love it. Its my go to club. I just can get over how a high handicapper like myself can hit a club so well. I also just bought the 3dx Tour 3 wood. 12 degree. I use it for my driver. It does a good job also. Tommorow I have one of the hybrid 7 woods coming. Love the Nickents. I am glad you like the irons. I'll probably get me a set next year. Thanks -
I may do a combination. I use to be a avid cyclist 2 or 3 thousand miles a year. Actually rode 2 centurys a couple years ago and about 50 lbs ago. That would be good work for cardio and legs. Probably do some light weight workout. I really dont want to spend too much time because I still need to swing the club. Better yet I may just change my lifestyle and try to work out in the mornings. Thanks for the ideas. Keep them coming

Just curious what weight training exercises would be good to help my golf swing for distance. I know I need to work on flexibility. I belong to a local gym so I have access to a large range of equipment. As for my body structure I am just over 6-1 and am overweight weighing about 280. I am dieting and want to get into a weight training schedule with cardio. I did walk 9 holes yesterday it was tuff bu I know its good for me. thanks

I recently took golf back up about a month ago and I bought a set of used irons Callaway S2H2 in good condition. They have graphite shafts. I think they were made around 1990. Perhaps next year I am thinking about buying a new set of irons perhaps Nickents or Callaway X14's dont want to spend a fortune. Just wondering what difference if any the new irons would have over my old irons. thanks

Your club swing was very similar to mine outside in. I finally cured it and really it was simple. 2 things I would try. First on the back swing go striagt back at least 2 feet. "Just if there is a 16.9 water bottle standing 2 feet behind the ball that you would knock it down on the back swing Better yet I played a lot of baseball and softball in my life. Practice swinging a baseball swing in your normal golf stance. Then picture in your mind a ball teed 2 feet high and practice that swing. Then come down to about 1 foot. Then 8 inches then your normal tee height. Trust me you will be swinging inside out. One last thing dont grip to tightly and swing smothly. I have not watced the videos yet another good practice at the range is try hitting your drive 125 yards. One other good type to help tempo is do a 1-2 count on your swing 1111 back and 2222 forward. I am a high handicapper however I have cut 12 to 14 strokes off my score in the last 2 outings.

UPDATE A friend of mine neighbor hunts balls daily at a local course and in selling me 300 plus balls extremely cheap. These suppose to be the better balls he finds. I was told the scuffed balls has been removed. I'll keep some, sell some and the bad I'll use on my driving range. Suppose to get them tis evening.

I just bought 11 new callaway xh hot's on ebay for 11.98 shipped and 15 near new 16 shipped. I am good to go for a while.
-
I think I am going to go with the HX Hot. I have played 6 rounds of 9 holes since I started back the first week of July and the last time out I played the HX Hot the last 4 holes and had my only 2 pars since I started. I may go the lost ball website and order them instead of buying them new. I think my game is turning around to the good since I am trying to be more disciplne in my swing.

My handicap is about 30 and getting better every week since I started back playing over the last month. I have played a few different balls and the one I like best was a Callaway HX Hot. (found this ball) I have also played the Gamer, Pinacle distance and Maxifli distance. I think I like a lower spin ball plus a ball that will give me good distance. I have thought about the Nike Juice or perhaps the Nike Power Distance soft. Since so far my favorite is the Callaway HX Hot what other ball would be comparible to it. Thanks for suggestions.
