  1. I think Haymes said it well in his interview with me today. The mental side of the game was his and Bernie's strength. I think maybe Camila's youth and inexperience is what caused her to lose it a bit. She sure has the talent though and with time and hard work, she'll make it - so will Hugo. They really are great golfers and, from what I've heard, really really nice people.
  2. Oh dear, I better start interviewing everyone! Please don't think I know what's going on. I connected first with Andrea because she was friends with other ladies I'd interviewed in past shows. I had no idea that she would leave the show so early. I really wanted to interview Haymes because of his brother. I am happy he said yes and even happier now that I picked a winner :) but seriously, I really don't know what's going to happen. But tonight when I saw the interviews on TV and how Camila was cut out and we only saw Hugo for the first part of the interviews, I figured they were out. I expect her face was a give-away they didn't want to show. It must be hard to keep it secret to the last 5 minutes. I think GC did a really good job, but I too wished I could have watched this over two days instead of skipping shots. Well, Michael's interview was tonight and it was sad to say goodbye to him, but I'll keep in touch with him and his teams and see how they perform next year. And he's agreed to be interviewed for BB PEI, which should be fun. I see they are 6 men/6 ladies again. I guess GC likes mixing it up. tomorrow...it's Andrea, Sally, David and of course, the man (daddy) of the hour, Haymes. It will be pretty cool to watch him play with his brother next year.
  3. Hmmm...really? I better start taking better notes. I had Robbie up by 1 after hole 4 in my notes, but maybe that was Robbie was up by 1 more . Sigh...Gotta get a PVR! Thanks for setting us straight! Gayle
  4. Skiing??? You didn't golf Whistler? Oh...you really missed a fabulous experience. There are amazing courses there - I love Big Sky where you feel drawfed by the mountains around you...and Nicklaus North - a challenge for sure, but great fun course for hackers too like me...Chateau Whistler - after the first 4 uphill holes, if you haven't been eaten by a bear, the rest of your round will be fun. And finally the Whistler course - a Palmer course with lots of "gotchas". 4 great courses. Waaaaay more fun that skiing. ;) Actually, Whistler gets more tourists now in the summer with golf and mountain biking than they do in the winter. Now that the the Olympics are coming in 2010, the highway is getting a makeover and it will be less hazardous to your health to drive up there ;) Gayle
  5. Here's how the scoring went... Hole 1: Amber 1/2, Bernie 1/2 Hole 2: Amber 0, Bernie 1 Hole 3: Robbie 1, Haymes 0 Hole 4: Robbie 1/2, Haymes 1/2 Hole 5: R&A; 0, H&B; 1 Hole 6: R&A; 0, H&B; 1 so totals: Amber and Robbie: 2 Haymes and Bernie: 4 So they did get to 4 points to win, but through a match play format.
  6. Lots of ups and downs for sure. I loved the poker faces - I really thought from Bernie's face that they had lost. Haymes' shot out of the woods was so great - love a good scramble! I was lucky to talk to Amber tonight. She was feeling pretty bad and that last bunker shot didn't help (although it was pretty irrelevant in the scheme of things). But I think she'll be okay - she'll make it someday - she's so young and she has talent. And hey...look what BB'er Jeanne Cho-Hunicke did on the weekend - never give up - never surrender!
  7. Okay...I get the carry over. But it's still confusing to me... Let's start from the beginning... Robbie and Amber win the first challenge and get a point. In Challenge 2, B/H and C/H tie, so their points go to the 3rd challenge. The 3rd challenge is now worth 5 instead of 3 because of the carry over. Okay...I get that. But don't forget A&R; have 1 from the first challenge (is that irrelevant now?). So now we have 3 teams playing for 5 points. R&A; made it in 1. C&H; made it in 1. And now Stina calls it a playoff on TV. What? H&B; hadn't even played the location yet. So is this a timing issue? Once Haymes and Bernie make it in 3, they are out of it, right? Then it's down to a playoff...A/R & C/H playoff. I think I was confused about Stina calling a playoff before Haymes and Bernie had even hit a first shot on the 3rd location. After listening to Michael and the number of times they had to play that hole, it makes more sense to me that the call for a playoff may not have been as clear as it could be in terms of timing. OR am I still missing something and should go back to my wine ;)
  8. Okay...so were you as confused over the first set of challenges as I was? I couldn't figure out how they got into a playoff so fast. Amber and Robbie had 1 point going into the 2nd challenge. Haymes/Bernie & Hugo/Camila both got that challenge in 2. And suddenly we're in a challenge? Did I miss something? Oh well...thank goodness I was able to ask Michael after the show what was going on. He filled in a few holes and gave some behind the scenes insights that brought a little light to the confusion. Tomorrow...Amber, Haymes, Sally and David interviews will be added. Gayle
  9. Just bought a ton for Xmas gifts for golfer friends. I wonder if I should send their pics to BQ :)
  10. Hey Fat Slice! I hope you don't mind, but I shared your post with Michael this week. He said nice things about you too :). Check out his interview tonight. I'll add Haymes, Sally, Dave and Andrea tomorrow to the blog. Golfgal
  11. I'm in a hurry to play some golf in Maui, but wanted to let you know that I finished up all the interviews this week on my blog (Mike, Dave, Sally, Haymes and Amber). Learned a few new things - always love that.
  12. Funny you mention the women driving first. My golfguy said to me that he'd make me play off the tee first because he said, "I would hate to have you play from behind a tree - it's a shot of which you have no knowledge." LOL!!!
  13. It never ceases to amaze me what people notice on BB's. Camila and her obsession with hair - LOL - I never saw that, but have heard it from others. But what about Sally's eye? Did you notice how red it was in the interview? And I loved Amber's putt, but more what she said to Robbie :) Got Michael's interview on the blog tonight and will add Dave, Sally, Haymes and Amber on Wed.
  14. I'd like to see Lori from BB Ka'anapali and Dave play as a team ;) Now that would be entertaining! Dave and Sally's interviews this week are up on the blog. Listen to them and then let me know what you think.
  15. I think that we should have a BB for all the contestants over 10 shows to date, that viewers love to hate. I have a few to add to that list. ;)
  16. I'd love to share my opinion - that was the most bizarre BB I've ever seen. And I've seen all of them. BB Ka'anapali was mean spirited, but that was between competitors. The tragedy of Dave and Sally is just so sad. I spoke to Michael about this week's show. I felt bad he and Sherri were eliminated, but they were really gracious about it. Michael shared a few things we didn't see, which is always great. I'll chat with David and Sally on Wed and post those interviews on the blog. They should be very entertaining ;) Gayle
  17. It's funny...in a hockey game or a football game, David wouldn't be looked at twice for his so called "trash talk", but in golf, people want to tar and feather him. I find that pretty funny (I come from a hockey family - David's tame). Anyway...certainly lots of drama tonight. I chatted with Michael about it and will add the rest of the interviews to the blog tomorrow - including David. Let me know what you think. Gayle
  18. Well, all interviews are done for this week - whew! There were a bunch, but all good stuff... Haymes confirmed Stina had her baby with her. Sally said what we saw/heard this week was the tip of the iceberg. And the big bad wolf, David, joined in on the fun. And it was fun talking to him (or listening ;)). The dark side of reality tv is on the golf channel (quote for Haymes I felt was worth repeating).
  19. I really miss them too. It was great chatting with them after each episode. I want to call them up and ask them what they think of the Big Break Michigan episodes - I'm sure their interviews would be a hoot. Hmmm...wonder if they'd be open to that...
  20. I believe Stina just had a baby not too long ago - heard she was pregnant during BB K (taped in Dec). So if she's breast feeding, then there's good reason for the "enhancements" ;)
  21. I have to agree with you. I figured David would pick R&O;, but I wonder if he was told by the producers to "draw it out" to add drama. I sure didn't like that part. Yes, Otis's blunder wasn't his 3 putt - it was his comment to Rachel that brought her to tears and made her miss that putt. Poor guy...you could just tell he felt so bad for the whole day. And poor Rachel...she really was behind the eight ball most of the day. They definitely get my sympathy vote - nice guys do finish last sometimes I guess. I interviewed Michael and Amber tonight . I'll add Haymes, Andrea and Sally on Wed. Let me know what you think of what they had to say. Gayle
  22. The thing I love (and hate) about BB X is that I never guess right what's going to happen (which I love), but then I share my ignorance with the world and show how wrong I can be (which I hate). So I'm left humble (well...not really - that would be asking too much ;:) Anyway....tonight I was sure after last week that Camila and Hugo were going home. Maybe it's because I've never had a chance to interview them, but somehow I just didn't think they'd last very long. Wrong again... Anyway...Mike and Sherri were like a different team tonight. Actually there were like a real "team" which was quite a transformation from last week. I think that's what made them successful. They really stuck together. I was able to interview Mike right after the show and found out he has an interesting collection of tatoos. You just never know what you're going to learn from these late night chats :) Andrea and James also looked much more together tonight. I'm not sure what went wrong, but that bunker shot was certainly uncharacteristic of Andrea. I'm chatting with her Wed AM so I'll ask her and I will certainly ask her to continue the weekly interviews like I did with Tina Miller - always great to get the perspective of those who have been eliminated. And I really like these people. I would hate to cut off the conversations before we really got started. I am also going to be talking with Haymes and Sally D tomorrow. Did you know that Sally is playing in the Remax Long Drive World Championship this week? I talked with her today briefly and she had made it into the semi finals. I think she won it in 2004. Wouldn't that be cool to see her win it again? I will know more tomorrow when I interview her. Meanwhile...I'd like to know who you think will leave next week. I have an opinion, but I'm wrong so often, it really doesn't matter what I think :) Gayle
  23. Well, I remember Kim Welch shanking a 5 iron on BB K and then standing over a 2 foot putt and saying she felt like a 2 year old over the ball. And low and behold...she makes it into the LPGA - no exemption required. There were many who criticized her back then too. (I could probably find the posts if you want to read them again :)) So I'm going to give these very nervous (or should I say scared s....less) folks a chance. Bernie and Haymes didn't do much in episode 1, but their performance on that first challenge this week was "impressive, awesome, inspiring, fun to watch, phenomenal..." (I took notes ;)). So you just never know. I'm going to wait to pass judgement - it's too up and down right now. Catch me after episode 6.
  24. Episode 2 on BB Ka'anapali was supposed to be an elimination but then Tina and Courtney both survived for another show. That was the first time I saw an elmination challenge where no one was elminated. Tonight was just plain frustrating for me - I am not a nasty person by nature, but I really wanted to see someone elminated. Okay, maybe I am nasty, but shows that end with "continue next week" kill me! Anyway...my evening ended nicely with a friendly chat with Michael - I love it when a man (or woman) can laugh at themselves. Michael was a treat to interview. Amber was having a high time with someone she called a "cutie" and had to DVR the show. She'll be on the blog tomorrow with Haymes and Andrea "if looks could kill" Vanderlende. Gayle
  25. Thanks Harry. Kind of nice having our own private chat room for a while :) Back to BB... 5'6" isn't short - in fact, it's a bit above avg for ladies, so I think it's because the guys are pretty darn big - David, Michael, Otis, Rob...they all look like big boys to me - NOT that that's a bad thing ;) Gayle
