Oh dear...now I have to come clean... Last year when I bought my HDTV with an HD box, I didn't buy the one with the built in recorder - I was like you, I said, "Pffftt. I don't even watch that much TV. What do I need this thing for?" Now I wish I had bought the one with built-in DVR, but hindsight is 20/20 and I'm obviously blind as a bat - laser surgery and all! My laptop says that it has a TV tuner in it and that I can watch, pause, record, rewind, TV etc all from my laptop - I just have to figure out how. What's nuts???? I have a freekin computer science degree and I still get lost in this new technology - Ooops! I am starting to show my age. Enough of that. Thanks for the note about my interviews. I really do appreciate it. If you ever want me to ask something - you know how to reach me :) Cheers Gayle

I have to admit, Harry, that I still live in the dark ages when it comes to TV. I bought an LCD last year and keep planning on setting up a laptop to record shows (I really don't want another box), but haven't gotten around to it. I guess I better bite the bullet or risk being shunned by the forum fans :) Gayle

Leprechaun???? LOL!!! Now we know why the contestants are told NOT to read these forums - I think Amber mentioned in her interview last night that she and boy toy have parted friendly ways, so boy toy is no more it would seem. I'm not sure I'll enjoy the subtitles for Hugo and Camila much longer - I'm too busy making notes to be reading the screen too. I hope that doesn't go on the whole show. Gayle

Well, I liked the show tonight. Although 2 shanks in one show has to be a record - they must have been really really nervous. However, I have to say that I really felt like Golf Channel has been paying attention and is giving us real golf challenges this time around. I think the teams will settle down. I am also curious if how future elimination challenges will set up. Because this was the first show, I'm not sure how hard the other contestants tried to eliminate Rachel and Otis. I do expect it will come back to bite them. I had a chance to talk with Amber and Michael tonight. Check out their interviews and let me know what you think. I will add Haymes and Andrea interviews tomorrow. I love a new series! Gayle

Well, it's time for another Big Break . I've got 4 interviews lined up for after the show this week (Michael and Amber on Tuesday night and Andrea and Haymes on Wed). Should be fun... Given this is the first time "couples" are competing, it will be interesting to see if the drama around relationships overshadows the golf - hope not. The previews seem to suggest that relationships will play a big part of the show. That's okay as long as the golf is the star in the end. I wonder how they'll decide on elmination. Anyone think they'll use the same "two strike rule" like they did on Highway 18? I kind of hope they do something different. I look forward to chatting with you all every week like we did on HW 18 - let me know if you have questions for the contestants and I'll be sure to ask in the interviews. But puleeze...no marriage proposals, okay guys! Gayle
-
You know I had the same question. But the answer I got (or answers) just confused me more. I think Jay said that R&C; were out there over an hour, and the Ash's out for only 45 minutes until Ashley collapsed. Given they were only a minute or two apart after the clue mishap, that would mean that the Ash's could have won if the putts had fallen. Ash's drive was short between tee and green, whereas R&C;'s was long around the trees. However, I believe it was Parker who said the opposite about timing. Oh well...who knows? Peach was positive that he and Jay would have played to the strategy of missing putts when required. You should listen to his interview - he was sure that Rob and Charlotte screwed up by not thinking straight. Although he was careful to say how smart they both are - he's such a sweet man - such a "peach" (okay, that was really bad ) I sure loved talking to every one of the contestants - they really are very nice people and all so different. I hope they do many more HW 18's so we can meet them again in a reunion show like they did with BB. I am sure they'll learn a lot from the show and I bet you anything, they are reading this forum to learn from fans as well. Now...off to Big Break Michigan - 4 interviews set up for next week! Gayle
-
LOL! Well, you might be surprised at who's doing the stalking of Harry and another golfguy in here. I just got off the phone with Ashley and Ashleigh and they both had messages for you boys And of course, Charlotte wasn't taking the bait I threw her way tonight - that girl is just too darn clever! But I see she's joined us here tonight, so let me be one of the first to welcome Blingo Queen to TST!!! Check out their interviews and have a good chuckle. I'll add the other interviews tomorrow. I'll add the other interviews tomorrow if Blogger behaves - it's been very very bad tonight. Gayle

LOL! If you only knew how many want to jump in but can't. I expect you'll hear from some of them after the show is all over. When BB Ka'anapali ended I know Tina started participating in "that other forum" ;) The FUTURES Tour 2009 schedule isn't posted, but the 2008 schedule didn't have much in your neighbourhood, so you didn't miss anything this year. Maybe you should move east - lots of events out east ;) Kim Welch is -2 on the LPGA Navistar event today (her first LPGA event since getting her card this year) for those of you who are following the BB gals. Cheers Gayle
-
Well, Harry...I guess I am on your hit list now. Will I ever live down the Larry faux pas? What if I told you that I got a message from Charlotte just for you? Charlotte (who calls herself now Sherry Longshanks ) told me to tell you that it's no hoax and that you are secretly her favorite! Shhhh...don't tell anyone :) Now...am I forgiven??? Gayle
-
Just got off the phone with Parker. A hoot as ever. I asked him about whether Jay was DQ'd or not and he said that they were allowed to play, but the time at the doctor counted against them. Seems fair to me. He said even with that delay, they played amazingly well and didn't come in all that far behind the others. Can you imagine if they hadn't carried that time delay into the final challenge what the other contestants would have said (or screamed)? No, I don't think it was rigged - just a lot of bad luck for Jay and Peach. Anyway, enjoy Parker's interview . cheers Gayle

I think what you heard were the clubs banging around. I checked with Jay and he was wearing rubber spikes - he doesn't wear metal. Sorry guys...Is it better to clarify or just let you live in speculation? :) I'm interviewing Parker in an hour or so and will get Mr. Shellman's post up as soon as I can. IMHO, I don't think GC went out of its way to make Jay look bad in the past episodes - he said so himself this week that the show brought out the worst and best in him. Jay is what he is and his dad even said that some of his friends wonder why he lets Jay talk to him the way he does. The other contestants also told us in previous interviews that they were surprised by Jay's mannerisms with his dad. But that being said, I think Jay has a lot of good in him and he proved that this week. So I'm glad the show let us see that side of him. I always thought he was great in the interviews with me. I'm just not sure I could handle being his partner in a competition :) He is a tad intense at times. Gayle

Oh my goodness, HARRY!!! I can't believe I confused you with another forum friend. I've been married twice, so let's just say this is not the first time I've put my foot in my mouth. Okay...you can call me Golfgirl (but don't tell her - she's younger and much prettier and might be insulted) Gayle
-
I love them and always try to buy one at every course I play. The Blingo'ery, the better! Golfgal

You know Alex, I was surprised to hear Jay say that too. But I'm not sure they were told they had to lose. I think he infered it from what they said, but you heard what I did, so who really knows. It did take them a while to make a decision on what to do. After talking to all the others, it sounds like the GC decision to only discount part of Jay and Peaches "doctor delay" was considered fair by all. Rob indicated that Jay and Peach still had a chance, although a remote one in the end. If GC had not given them a break at all, they wouldn't have had a chance to even hit a ball in the final challenge. Peach's comments about the reckless driving, Jay's accident, others' injuries and all the things you said above about hiccups strongly suggest GC needs to rework some things in the format, but I hope they do a HW 18-2. Would be a shame for it to be just a 1 season wonder don't you think? Gayle
-
HAHA...too funny Larry and too late to change things now :) BTW...Peach just joined the weekly gab-fest on the blog . Golfgal

Darn close Q.Q. :) Charlotte is a big Sand Trap fan. She lurks here. Almost like a "peeping Tomasina" LOL! Gayle
-
I got to talk to Jay, Charlotte and Rob this AM to get more inside info on the injury and what actually happened. And Charlotte explains what happens next week in terms of their no strike status. She also has a message for some of you here :) Raul and I are chatting tonight and I've got Parker lined up for Thursday which should be a hoot! Golfgal

Well, I wouldn't put too much cash down just yet. Underdogs have been known to win before :). And the Ash's are flying high tonight - they plan on being together to watch the finale next week, so I'll interview them both at the same time after that show. Do losers get together for finales? Actually I wouldn't put it past the two of them to celebrate regardless of what happens - those girls love to party! I interviewed them tonight and they both said Jay's injury was pretty bad. I am chatting with Jay Wed AM to find out more and will get that up on the blog ASAP as well. And the rest will follow like they do every week. Gayle

I think I'm in love

I was told that they were "advised" not to read the forums because others who did, lived to regret it. The BB Ka'anapali posts were brutal - I read them all and some were really really bad. I was told the same thing about previous BB's, but I didn't follow the forums as much back then. So they weren't forbidden to lurk here and on other forums - just warned that they should be careful. If I were a contestant, you wouldn't see me here for love or money! My ego just isn't strong enough Gayle
-
Not only that...but the contestants were advised NOT to read the forums given how brutal we forum folks can be. Some Big Break contestants are still feeling the bruises and affects of reading posts about themselves. Ouch!
-
Good to see you paying attention, Harry :) I just finished up the interviews with Jameica and Rob as well - so check those out. And I said "chatting with Ashleigh next week" not "caddying" - sorry for the bad connection on that part of the taping. Gayle
-
Apology accepted - thanks Harry. BTW...Charlotte just wanted to let you know...she's reading this thread too. Vangroovy is wonderful right now and all I want to do is golf! But making a living is once again getting in the way of a good time. Cheers Gayle
-
HEY!!! What am I - chopped liver? Last time I looked I had an X chromosome stashed somewhere - LOL! Well, I was lucky to catch Charlotte and the two Ash's tonight after the show to get their perspectives. Seems a lot happened behind the scenes we didn't see. Next week should be very interesting. Check out their interviews and come back later in the week for more. Raul, Jameica and the rest will be added Wed and Thursday. Gayle

Hey worst shot ever :) #4 is funny. I never thought about the romance idea but now that you've planted the seed, they girls and the boys have been playing look/no look in the cars along the way - foreplay? :) And today, Jameica said in her interview today that she thought Ashley's eye candy remark was about the southern boys. LOL Golfgal Jay said it was cold and wet - maybe slippage is an issue when you're trying to kill a ball. EVER??? I agree that Charlotte is quite an impressive young lady. I really like her - no nonsense too - love how she stays so in control (no crying over a ball). I hope she goes far in her pro career. She's got spunk! But in terms of hot on the CG...what happened to Stina? I thought she was the "hot" one on the golf channel these days? Or is she now too old? Please tell me it isn't so. She's not only gorgeous - she's a golf equipment junkie too! As a mature woman, I tend to side to those over the age of 25 :) Golfgal
