Ok, the only reason I ask is because I thought you had to buy clubs from the shop, and they'll fit the ones you buy from them.

How's it going guys? I havent been on here for awhile. Lately Ive been thinking of getting new graphite shafts for my irons. I called a golf shop the other day, and they said I can choose what shafts I would like from a place online, and they can order them for me. But before they do, they want me to come by and see how my swing is, and make sure I'm getting the correct shafts for my swing. They said it would be free of charge to test my swing, but I was wondering if after they test my swing I should just ask them to cut or add length to the new shafts as well? Would this be a reasonable question to ask, and would it benefit me even more? Thanks

How do you mark your Titleist(or any other golf ball)?
ttime replied to WTCC_golf's topic in Clubs, Grips, Shafts, Fitting
Kind of hard to explain, but those of you who use TaylorMade balls will know what I am talking about. When they spell out taylormade all the letters are normal and black, except for the "T". The "T" is black all around it, making the letter white, so I color that in red. Actually you can see what I mean in my signature haha -
Just turned 17 a month ago. Used to golf when I was around 11ish. Wish I would have stuck with it,maybe if I did right now colleges would be looking at me to play for them haha.

Thanks for the reply, I actually decided to go with a regular 3 wood that has a 15 degree loft.
-
I am getting ready to purchase a Nike Ignite T-60 3T wood. I am a little confused on the lofts and stuff. The normal nike ignite 3 wood has a lost of 15 degrees, but the 3T has a loft of 13 degrees. Will this make much of a difference on how far I hit a 3 wood? What would be the difference. I need some help with this. Thanks

Yeah, I will have to just postpone the practice swings. -

No, not the driving range, just swinging the clubs. Alright thanks -
I just received some clubs today from a friend I know. The grips were slippery, and a little worn out. So I just got them regripped about 2 hours ago. I was told that I cant golf with them for about 5-6 hours. But I wanted to know if I could do some practice swings with them anytime soon? How long should I wait?

Anyone have ideas?

I was wondering if any of you have experience with these clubs? I am a beginning player. I know that these clubs will get the ball high up in the air, but Im wondering if this is really necessary? I sometimes have a problem with getting the ball in the air, and I dont know if that is just a beginning mistake, or an actual problem I have. But Im wondering if I should get these, or go for something else. What do you think?
-
This might not sound like much, but for a beginner I was so excited. So I just finished 9 holes today. It was the 4th hole, a par 3 about 168 yards. I could have been on the green, but I hit a terrible tee shot, and landed in the fairway. I got out the pitching wedge from maybe 100 yards away, aimed, swung at the ball, and watched it hit the flag stick and then bounce to the side of the hole. I was pumped.

Whats up with my shot? Very inconsistent
ttime replied to ttime's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Trogdor: I know that a hybrid will hit longer, but the length Im hitting it seems to be pretty far considering the club I am using. But Im not doing the same with the short irons. jambalaya: At the range I go to they only have mats. But when I hit on a course I try to take divots out, and on occasion I do. But most times I will just brush the grass. Zeph: Im not sure what you mean with your first question. But yesterday at the range I noticed that all my shots, except with wedges, just did some what of a "line drive" not too much height. But the day before on the course if I got a good shot it would take a nice high arc, and then just come down. wachesawgolfer: I usually do ok on the course, with the exception of driving, but thats a different story. Im still a beginner so Im not the best, but like I said I guess I do ok. Yes, the range is very easy to tell the distances. CoolBreeze20: No I have not really been able to see a difference in trajectory. Thanks for all the replies. Hopefully I answered each question. Sorry if they are a little vague. Im going golfing sometime this weekend, and will see if I can see a difference. -

I thought about that, but then I thought if that was the case, how could I still hit my hybrid over 200 yards? -
I went to the driving range today to accuratly find out how far I can hit each club I have. Usually I am pretty good with the short irons (7,8,9). I hit quite a few balls, and with all three of those short irons, I hit about 125 each time. Sometimes a little less. But none really hit further than the other. On the other side I am usually terrible with the long irons. I have two hybrids that I hit pretty decent, but still inconsistent. I have a 19 degree hybrid, and on a good shot I hit it about 210. I dont understand. I know you probably need more information so let me know if you have questions, but why is it that I am hitting a hybrid over 200 yards, and all my short irons hit the same length?

I played a round of golf with some friends yesterday, and I had a hard time figuring out what club to use for each shot. Part of it was because I didnt know how far the pin was after my tee shot. But most of it was because I dont know how far I can hit each club. I printed off a page which gives you a general idea of how far a club hits, but obviously everyone is different. Im going to the range today to get an average of how far I can hit each club, but Im trying to figure out how many times I should hit each club to get that average. What do you think? Sorry if this may be a dumb question, but Im just a beginner still trying to figure everything out .

Oh ok thanks. So I think the best thing to do is put the 7 wood back in, keep the G5 in, and take out the 9 wood.
-
Awhile ago I had two hybrid clubs. One was a 22 degree 7 trouble wood, and the other was a 9 wood. I was told that the 7 wood should replace a 3 iron, and the 9 wood should replace a 4 iron. A friend of mine gave me a ping G5 19 degree, and I read that it replaced a 3 iron, so I took the 7 wood out of my bag, and put the ping in. Can someone tell me what each of these hybrids replaces(7 wood, 9 wood, and ping G5 19 degree)?

So I got some balls called almost golf balls. I didnt read the back(where I saw that they still go pretty far), and hit ball 1 or 4 into the neighbors yard...oops
-
Gotcha. It would seem that the plastic ones wouldnt go as far. Hopefully I dont lose too many in the neighbors yard.
-
Im just getting back into golf. And while I was out today I saw some practice balls. Some were just soft, and others were plastic with holes in them. I want to get these so I can practice my swing at home. But where can I use these? Inside? Will they break anything? Do I have to buy a practice net to use them? At that point I would just use regular balls.

I just got back and it was soo fun. I was with some friends who play golf a ton, so they taught me a lot of stuff. Im in highschool, and so are they. All except one play for their school so theyre pretty good. Anyways we didnt go on the course and play, but just hit a lot of balls at the driving range. I tried out all my clubs. I wasnt consistent, but a lot of the balls I hit went pretty far. I practiced with the 5 iron a lot, when I hit the ball good it went about 145 yards. But sometimes shorter if I didnt get under the ball enough. Unless I hit the top of the ball too much, instead of getting under it, the ball had no problem flying through the air. I did better than I expected, and were going again within the next couple of days. Im definatly hooked now. But I want to hit at the range a few more times before I go out onto the course.

Im going out golfing this morning with some friends, and I havent golfed in 2 years haha. I guess hitting the range for a little first, then playing 9 holes. All as I can remember from the last time I went was I hit the ball really really flat, and couldnt get it up in the air. Any suggestions for this, and any other things I should do?
