We'll find out today. A friend of mine who works at a proshop brought me a sleeve. I'll give em a shot today. Hard to tell how they react though because my swing is inconsistent.

Yeah I did gather that's what they were after from the wording on the box. Question is, though, does it work?

Advice on focusing without undue pressure
Rugger replied to NBGC's topic in Instruction and Playing Tips
Being a 18+ player myself, I usually just try to remember that I'm out there playing to have fun. If I mess up and have a blow up hole it's not the end of the world. I usually end up playing better when thinking like that. -
I saw these in the store today and was intrigued. They use some sort of double dimple, meaning a very small dimple within the normal dimples. Is there anything to this or just marketing?

When I hit my long irons, or really any irons, my biggest problem when I make a good swing is both a push and or slice. When I make good contact the ball usually either takes off to the right immediately or starts straight and fades a ways to the right, enough to the right to ruin a good shot (ie: miss the green). The irons I'm using are spauldings that came as part of a complete set (they're the only part of the set I still use), so in that regard I'm thinking they were made for someone not nearly as strong as I am. Now I don't know my swing speed because I haven't had it checked, and I'm not sure how hard I swing my irons in relation to my driver, but it only makes sense to me that this is a problem. Any advice for me? Should I just bring one in to Golfsmith and ask them or what? PS- On my driver (R5) on the shaft it says "S-Flex". Does that mean stiff or soft? I'm not sure if it's stiff or soft as I've never really swung another nice club.

Lots of people recommend Tommy Armour Silver Scots. They can be found really cheap if used.
-
Go to golf galaxy/Golfsmith and get a used driver. At minimum it will give you a mental boost. I got an TM R5 in good shape for 99$. Other than that, just slow yourself down. Better to make solid contact than kill some worms.

If you have tree(s) in your back yard just go to home depot and buy some netting. In fact, it would probably be cheaper to buy some treated wood and netting and simply build your own.

You can plug up the sink (or get a bucket) and pee in it. Then soak your hands in it for a good 10 minutes. It sounds really gross but the minerals in the urine will get into your skin and really toughen it up. A fair amount of baseball players do this, especially in 3rd world countries where batting gloves are difficult to come by.

Hard to tell with out a video. A slice can be caused by several different things. Do you have access to a video camera?
-
I don't really have a valid opinion because I'm not very good, but it seems like you're hands end up way too high. It looks like they end up above your head at the top of your backswing! I think you would be much better off with them about shoulder height at the top of, maybe mid bicep. That's just me, though.

Thanks for that

In search of some used irons for a mid level player. I want something I can have fun with but will still be challenging and that I can grow into. Problem is I'm trying to go cheap, and pretty much as cheap as possible. I'm always looking out for a good set of tommy armours but I don't think those would be challenging enough for me. thoughts?

Thanks for the tip. I'll call one up and see what the deal is.

Anyone know the weight deal in the 2 ball srt white steel?

I know adidas and nike make custom shoes for high school and college team players who's feet don't fit the regular sizing. I would try and contact these guys directly.

Well hot damn I better get in on some competitions then. -
No idea what bounce is and was considering Cleveland simply because a friend recommended them.
-
It isn't brand new, it's got some noticeable nicks on it.
-
Friend gave me a brand new 2 ball SRT. Problem is that it's a 35". I think I would rather have a 33 or smaller. Can this be done?

Club we play at has GPS in the carts that can measure from hole or from teebox. One of two carts in our party will go ahead and watch for landings. 5$ from each person each hole, longest drive gets the money. 2 hit, carts switch, other 2 hit. -

I could continue posting long drive results if you insist on continuing your denial. Hell, I'll bring my video camera out next time, roll a dice in the tee box, write the number on the ball, hit it 320+ and video picking up the ball all in one continuous shot.I suppose everyone would still revert to the 'you can't out drive tiger' argument. Hasn't it occured to anyone that maybe those guys don't go 100% because they don't need to go 100%? Because they would rather have a sufficient drive with perfect accuracy? Maybe also that 302 tiger drive stat is an average and those averages don't consider different holes, conditions, doglegs etc. Ever think of any of that? Maybe you're just jealous? -

That's utter crap. I know a 160 lbs kid who can consistently carry 325-330 and this guy thinks there's only 5 or 6 at 350? Why, cuz they don't enter long drive competitions? Give me a break. The gps on our golf carts must be lying to us. Further proof, here is the list of winners for one particular Remax local long drive event. This was a local event on feb 8th 2008 hosted by Remax. This was just one of many local events You can search at the following link for more local competitions. Note the open division winners http://www.longdrivers.com/remax_local.php -
